Yes. No.
>will I need a guide?
Why would you ever need one?
If you're okay with a bit of eye rolling at instant wipes, it's held up. Great art style, music, gameplay, the only part you might want a guide for is the true demon ending. Which is worth doing because some of the most interesting (and most difficult) dungeons are the optional true demon dungeons
I've heard that the game is very difficult.
>smt 3 never coming out PS4
>smt 5 won't com to PS4
Can you play Pokémon? Then you don't need a guide for Nocturne.
>inb4 use speed & defense buffs
It's difficult but not like archaic nonsense horror game puzzles you'd need/want a guide for. The difficulty is essentially a couple tricky bosses that you can be underleveled for, and random encounters that can sometimes be dangerous
This is somewhat disingenuous, no?
The series is very overrated when it comes to difficulty.
Or else JRPGs in general aren't difficult, so MegaTen stands out as being difficult (the only JRPGs I play are MegaTen,
so I wouldn't know).
If you've played a recent Persona game, or DDS then you shouldn't have much bother with Nocturne. Just play on normal rather than Hard.
Yes. Play the new Chronicles Edition that was just translated.
Wow, a PS4 owner thread shifting and port begging because the universe doesn't revolve around a single console not getting MILLENNIAL ENTITLEMENT remasters; please leave and ask Sony Twitter why the most """powerful""" Playstation console can't read and play PS1 and PS2 discs.
it's a jrpg, if it's difficult just grind more
are you okay user?
It's difficult if you're a brainless idiot who's only ever played two final fantasy games and things attack+heal is all you'll ever need
It is rather easy when you know how to manipulate and get the most out of press turns. Also USE BUFFS RETARD!
It's not that hard, it just doesn't let you rely on grinding if you hit a wall. You just have to git gud.
>that was just translated
It was? Damn, I just started the regular US version a few days back
Nicoblog didn't have any other one in english
Its a challenging game, but it doesnt really need a guide.
this, the temporary buffs are so much more powerful and essential than they are in 90% of rpgs
I'm very skeptical of the idea of most Nocturne players clearing Puzzle Boy without a guide.
Yes. Maybe for Puzzle Boy, but otherwise no.
>is the best SMT game worth playing
yes
Translation just released, you need to patch it yourself. Don't worry, that's incredibly easy to do.
>not Featuring Dante™ From The Devil May Cry™ series
Don't play that version.
You don't need to do puzzle boy unless you absolutely must have maksados
Sokoban is fun, so yes, I do it without a guide every time I replay it.
What I also mentioned about manipulating press turns is actually very important. If you can fuse a lightning rod demon (Absorbs/nulls Elements), most of the bosses become much easier. Really helps against Trumpeter due to the fact that he only uses EM/HM after 8 attacks
What's in it?
It features someone who actually has Pierce, and therefor will actually see use.
Plus Raidou is still really cool, and there are other advantages.
It replaces Dante with Raidou and has a different intro. The rest is identical.
The guy who made the translation also editted a couple lines that got questionable localizations and made a lot of the skill descriptions clearer.
>Pierce
Overrated as fuck. Only really useful in one fight.
I didn't even know this was a thing. I might play it on my next run
Why do I want Raidou instead? I guess it's a little different but it's mostly a cosmetic change because who actually uses Dante
Wait what.
Chronicles got translated, since fucking when.
I swear i just checked like 3 days ago
It also rebalances some random encounters to make the AI less retarded, also less likely to use instant kill attacks.
Lucifer is also less of a pushover.
Every SMT that Sup Forums never shuts up about, as well as the Persona series, is probably worth playing.
Why would you not use dante?
He's really fucking good and whoops lucier's ass
Those 2-3k crits every time for free
sweetness, he's my best party member
Like 5 days ago.
I'm guessing you never actually did that seeing as Dante's lack of Pierce means he only does 1/10 damage to Lucifer.

best track coming through
First I hear of it changing anything balance wise and I can't exactly say I noticed anything in my playthrough.
Raidou is technically a bit better on bosses than Dante because he comes with pierce and better utility, but it really doesn't matter much. It's mostly for the novelty of it, if you are replaying the game anyways might as well play Chronicles and experience a few different scenes and recruit Raidou.
Raidou Kuzunoha from the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner Raidou Kuzunoha (tm) series
youre such a bullshitter
I see.
Well I don't see myself playing it either way because I'm already knee deep in hardtype and that shit spoiled me
Now I don't think I can play normal nocturne anymore without dying of boredom
I wish I could just replace dante with raidou

best dialogue track
It is, but not very complex
where the fuck is pixie

actual best dialogue track
Why would you use that garbage?
cringe
I got up to about ~13-14 before I just said "Fuck it" and used a guide.
I've beaten catherine before so it was kiddie stuff
...
>Spend 2 hours getting to like level 8
>Look up how many levels there actually are
And that's when I decided to use a guide, that game's fucking bullshit
...
>Not keeping Demifiend's demonfu by his side
Grinding does little in this game.
There's a reason most bosses are very overlevelled, because you're supposed to learn their weaknesses and exploit them.
well it's entirely optional so it doesn't matter
