TO THIS?????????
not even the worst offender, Skyrim with it's fucking pointer markers is worse
Daily reminder that people save up money for months/years to upgrade their PCs so that they can play these """"games""""
Top cuck
It really isn't.
I want to play Gothic 2.
What is the best version?
it really wasn't that bad at all, you could turn them off if you wanted to kiddo
...
Sure, but then you're fucking lost since the game doesn't actually give you directions anywhere.
Problem with Withcer 3 is that the same enemies have different levels.
So if you turn UI off and run into say bandits they can be lower/same/higher than you and you do not know if they just though or that you can only hit them 0,01% of damage and whole fight would take ages even if you do not get hit.
Geralt is a character with certain abilities that need to be represented in the game, game worlds are also getting increasingly larger with more points of interest on them. Though I'd prefer something that let me write on a map myself rather than the game putting markers there.
Can you play with pad?
yes
>you're fucking lost
>open world game
thanks user(s)
Just because it's an open world game doesn't mean it gets to waste your time with pointless meandering bullshit when you're supposed to be doing something.
you're not supposed to do anything, every single thing in that game is optional
also,
>"the game wastes your time with meandering"
>what is fast-travel
>turn off markers
wow that was hard!
>get a quest
>description has no directions
>world has no significant landmarks
So you're just supposed to ignore the quests you're given and stumble around aimlessly doing things as you trip over them instead?
If you're on a quest, you're supposed to be doing something by definition. Also can't fast travel to places you haven't been to, so good luck finding that draugr tomb on your own.
There's literally nothing wrong with quest markers.
We went from the former to the latter because games are expensive to make. They therefore have to sell to more people than before. The devs consequently have to take some of the tedium or potential points of frustration in RPG's and games in general so that more casual people will play the games and beat them.
Your average dude who works a 9-5 and buys like 4 games a year doesn't wanna have to follow directions in a questlog or work too hard to access content in a game he paid for. And who could blame him?
That's not the point. It's always the same problem when devs add a completely unbalanced feature after the fact to placate "hardcore gamers".
If your entire game is built around having quest markers then merely disabling them without tweaking the game to work without them doesn't solve anything. It just makes the game frustrating. And then retards like you go "hurr durr but you said you didn't want quest markers and now that you don't have them you complain".
Developers got more skilled at making games.
Anything else?
>games are expensive to make meme
They're only expensive because the devs choose to make them expensive.
I want to play Gothic 1&2 but at the same time I have already completed Gothic 3 and going backwards starting as a level 1 mudfarmer in a story that doesn't mean anything at all since the stakes what with the god war finally ending on 3 are high af
Is this the ELEX thread?
>playing Gothic with mouse
Literally what for? Going full keyboad is far better and better for control.
And you can chose not to buy them. I'm not sure what's your point, it's just circular logic. Play small indie RPGs if you want something more niche. You might as well complain that Marvel Studios don't produce experimental new wave movies in polish. You're barking at the wrong tree.
>who could blame him?
I can. He's making all the potential games shit through trend.
more pb shills from krautchan. you should pirate gothic 2. none of the people who made those games work at pb anymore. you're giving untalented hacks free money for work they didn't do
I don't see why you're complaining about games getting more casual if PB is still creating gothic clones and we get still get games like dominions.
I mean fuck the last one came out like what two years ago.
The big budget games have always been fairly casual I mean fuck even half life which is looked back as some paragon of gameplay, it's best gun had unlimited ammo and homing bullets.
So devs shouldn't push the technology as far as they can? They should scale it back? Because even as high as game budgets are Sup Forums still insists every AAA game looks like trash and has an empty world. Could you imagine if they cut budgets back?
Weird. It's almost as though games are for more people than just you. If your demographic was relevant or sizable to keep AAA studios afloat, you'd still be catered to. I know you wanna stand on your soapbox and talk about how games like Witcher 3 and Skyrim and Fallout 4 are complete trash, but it would be fiscally irresponsible for a company like Bethesda or CDProjekt to make a game that you thought was good enough.
That's capitalism for you, pal.
Why does Falk look pissed? I played Outlaw so I dont think it was possible for me to get him to true friend status, he was just always neutral to me because I killed Konrad
How's Elex gothicfags?
Can't find Mario Anywhere so I might pick that up
That's not how it works. If only hardcore gamers bought games then of course devs would cater to their tastes. At the same time it'd mean that games would only sell a tiny fraction of what they do currently and super large and expensive games like Witcher 3 wouldn't be possible to produce.
If you want games that cater to niche tastes then you need to look for niche games, not the AAA flagship titles.
Should I install L'Hiver? I've played the game loads of times before, but is it actually good or what? What changes?
Gothic 3 is shit and people don't consider it canon, so not playing the masterpiece that is 1 and 2 because you played a piece of shit that is 3 is pretty retarded
Throughly enjoyable. I just finished it 2 days ago, after about 60 hours. Its the typical Pirahna Bytes schtick, the slow and steady progression for the first 10 or so hours and then you really start to kick ass.
I just like how high stakes the story is on 3, with you finally ending the god war
I mean don't you just do some extremely minor tier shit in 1&2? Like killing some random ancient sleeping evil or shitty dragons
I got him to True Friend just by finishing his quest and getting a few extra likes. I was a cleric, but that only got me likes once or twice, nothing gamechanging.
Is it true that you can use monster transformation spells in Gothic 2 to clear through most of the early game?
I love RPGs that let you change into other creatures and fight but sadly even in the games that's in it's usually shitty.
Can you do that to kill late game enemies too?
It's their best game since Gothic 2. I got 65 hours in and I might start another playthrough soon to check out some other stuff I passed on or do things different.
it's garbage. the dialogue is trash and mind numbing. the combat is just as awful and it's barely an rpg. there's actual german shills from krautchan shilling this piece of shit game. don't believe their kraut lies
These scrolls are hard to come by early in the game and IIRC cost a lot of mana which you really can't get that easy.
I CLAPPED
better graphics, changes to the map, more items, rebalance of enemies and weapons.
1.0 adds shit like hunger, weight limit, crafting etc which is why people consider its shit so only the one from moddb is good
>the absolute state of gothicfags forever mad their franchise is old and forgotten
if you want to
yes
Strange, because I collected all the stuff for him and brought him to Konrad before he died and never got past neutral
The last time I cheesed the game with transformations the levels and xp you got as a monster didn't transfer when turning back to a human. Dunno if you can do it and still benefit now, I've always looked at it as a tool that let you clear dangerous areas at low levels but cost you the xp you'd get normally because of that behavior above.
Fuck off. I played ELEX for over 100 hours and it's shit.
>what is turning off the game and playing something else
Wow! That was tough!
gothic 2 wasn't "their" game. modern pb are a bunch of talentless retards. the geniuses who made gothic and gothic 2 have been gone for years
Hey, thats just like your opinion man.
Are you the same guy who literally got banned for shitposting in the Elex threads all the time? Get gud faggot.
why would you do that to the farmers cunt you are in militia you should care about them. (pic unrel)
Gothic 2 NotR is my GOTAY, but I'm not a big fan of ELEX. I never finished, but put 45-50 hours into it. I got into the lategame, and then got bored.
PB games typically suffer from a power bloat. In ELEX, you spent A LOT of time being underpowered (which is nice) before you get access to faction armor & weapons. Normally this would give you a bit of an edge in Gothic games, but in ELEX I went from running from virtually everything to fucking everything up (save a few enemies). This means that progression feels almost binary, which in turn means that there's no sense to explore more for loot or EXP. You're already covered, and it's just a matter of powering through the arguably weak story. The story is nice, but the factions are retarded.
What's even worse is that ELEX is a frontloaded game, which means that skills checks etc. are super high, but only relevant in the beginning where you won't be able to pass them.
In ye olde days I would support PB. I bought Risen 3 after the mess that was Risen 2, and the snorefest that was Risen 1. At this point though, it's obvious that they'll NEVER EVER surpass Gothic 2, which sucks.
TLDR; If you want a PB-ish game, then yes, but it's not exactly Gothic 1 or 2.
Why did they draw a fucking ship on the map?
they used to do the same stuff with sea monsters back in the day just for the sake of decoration
Yes, but you should not level up whilst in transformation.
You get +10 health pr. level up, but not while you're transformed. This is a bug. Lategame the +10 HP isn't a big deal, but early to early-midgame it can make quite a difference.
Witcher 2 and 3 are not RPGs
There's a cartographer that gives you that map, guess he liked it.
>I played ELEX for over 100 hours
>it's shit
Also that focal point 50mins autism video is amazing
>muh enemy placement WHY CAN'T I FIGHT EVERYTHING THE MOMENT I SEE THEM WHY ARE SO MANY HIGH LEVEL ENEMIES HERE, WHY CAN'T I DO ALL QUESTS THE MOMENT I GET THEM
>magalan is a weird name for a planet
>magic makes totally more sense when it comes from the gods!!!!!
>muh combat is clunky and hard what's the point of stamina why can't I learn how easy it is to chain attacks, press Q, jetpack repeat, quaff stamina pots, have fun
Nice to see gothicfags revealing themselves as the casuals they are.
You need to be 18 to post here.
>missing the point
Damn retard.
>not playing something means you can't criticize bad design
That's some shitty logic sport. Think you should just stay lurking for a few more months.
Is it also viable late game?
Is there nothing to fix that +10 health on level bug?
How should I begin the game if I want to be a mudering shapeshifter, is there a first place you can rush to get the transformation magic/scrolls?
>How should I begin the game if I want to be a mudering shapeshifter, is there a first place you can rush to get the transformation magic/scrolls?
You shouldn't do that because it makes early game too easy
But I don't want to suffer through the insufferable early game gothic experience especially when I can have fun turning into monsters and massacring shit
I've even heard this NOTR addon makes the beginning even more insufferable
I also plan on going mage and I've heard and it's even disgusting early game
>Ease of knowing what the fuck you're doing and where the fuck you're going is bad
And you fags wonder why companies don't cater to you anymore
1. No. You can transform into Dragon Snappers which are some of the most powerful mobs, but you will not be able some midgame to lategame units.
2. Nope.
3. Gothic 2 is an RPG, but not like that. Most named NPC's have quests (in any chapter) and killing them will screw up your ability to gain EXP. Unnamed NPC's (hostile or friendly) are fair game though.
Here's a pro-tip: Play Gothic 2 first without the NotR addon. Seriously. NotR adds a shitton of content (mostly in the form of another continent/map) but it also fucked with the balancing. It was made for hardcore fans. Gothic 2 on a blindthrough is much more enjoyable, and easier to break. Mages are definitely doable and VERY viable in Gothic 2, but not so much in NotR.
By going on a massacre I meant killing enemies/monsters, not neutral npcs.
Unless you have a link I'm not going to bother hunting down a standalone copy.
Now if only Gothic 2 wasn't a buggy piece of shit with terrible gameplay
>it would be fiscally irresponsible for a company like Bethesda or CDProjekt to make a game that you thought was good enough
Incorrect. You can't know that.
>that's capitalism
That's the most superficial understanding of capitalism and one that leads to every product being the same and tasteless.
>niche games
Which nobody is producing because as soon as a niche studio appears and makes one game, they are bought out by EA or another cancer company and forced to produce audience tested streamlined one-size-fits-all product.
So yes, it IS Joe Schmoe's fault that games are shit. He should've never been catered to in the first place.
>Mage is not viable in NotR
Maybe if you fuck it up and spend your LPs on Sleep, Light and other useless shit. Otherwise it's more than doable and lategame Mage is OP as fuck with Rain of Fire and other spells like that.
What's so hard about making an ingame journal with directions like Morrowind and allowing you to turn off markers and shit? It would take an intern what 2 days max to type out all directions and shit?
>played over 100 hours
>for something he considers shit
seems legit
You have to run it by a suit and he will say they don't need it because the option would just confuse buyers and the budget would go up $20.
>being a mage in NotR
>spend early game going for dex until you can wield the mastersword
>spend a shitton of LP's on learning magic circles which have useless spells just to progress
>spend shittons of LP's on mana so you can spam fireball, lightning, and create goblin skeleton
>only viable spell against dragons is learned after you've killed them all except for the last boss
Yeah, no. It isn't viable. I mean it's viable on a shoe-string-shitty-ass-mage playstyle. As a mage you'll end up turning to scrolls to kill dragons, which is pretty fucking ironic.
>he's too stupid to be objective
The point was
>waaaah it's not exactly like gothic!
>it's too hard and i can't bother learning the combat mechanics!
>he's too stupid to make claims that aren't extremely dubious
>enemy placement in Gothic is used to naturally lead players to areas they're meant to explore while gradually unlocking more of the map as you become stronger
>enemy placement in ELEX has not point and haphazardly throws high level enemies right next to weak ones for no reason
DAMN
RETARD
>>enemy placement in Gothic is used to naturally lead players to areas they're meant to explore while gradually unlocking more of the map as you become stronger
That's why you can find wargs, shadowbeasts, orcs, Orc Elites and snappers around Khorinis, right?
Man, fuck that high level shit, a pack of wolves is enough to wreck a new player and they're eveywhere. Good luck trying to pull one at a time too.
The game is pretty in your face about IGNORING WHAT LOOKS DANGEROUS AT YOUR LEVEL
>DAMN
>RETARD
wtf? my e-feelings have been hurt now!
The enemy placements weren't haphazardly thrown in. They were placed there to keep you on the roads, and when there were strong enemies on the road you're meant to get around them using the terrain and jetpack.
Literally addressed in the video, damn retard.
I can't decide to play Dark Souls 3 for the 7th time, but this time ON PC.
Or to play Elex.
And so is Elex with THE BIG FUCKING SKULL AND CROSSBONES ON THE ENEMY'S HEALTHBAR
Then there's no excuse, unless you feel like dying of course.
Always interesting to test out dodging skills against super powerful shit at low levels.
it's not reduced to text-support.
It's about how a game is designed.
For your example, Morrowind, you had quests designed around exploring/inquiring into the world and it's residents. You had to talk to a lot of NPCs, convince them to give info, search for clues, etc. World-building also was made as to offer immersive pointers / landmarks which can be navigated/ tied to lore/quests.
In Skyrim you had it the other way around. And a quest involved following a set of waypoints. If they were to be removed, you could not suffice with Dialogue. You had to have special item placement, care to detail, to generate a richer environment in which the player can expand, explore and discover/ resolve the quests. Not like in Skyrim where there is one office with one drawer where the quest item is marked.
Those are a very shitty indicator and immersive breaking.
>restrict self from fast traveling
>alternative is walking with aid of map and carriage rides
>restrict self from using markers
>alternative is _______
There's no alternative. The game gives no information on how to get to certain locations unless the NPC marks them on the map. Good luck finding that one item you need to pick up as a retard who spams shouts at every corner displacing quest essential items into crevices and canals.
