AMA with Battlefront II devs

Thoughts?
Will it just be EA shills asking themselves loaded questions?

The top comments are bretty gud. Waiting for those responses now. They must have at least 10 higher ups reading draft responses for maximum damage control since they're taking so long

I don't understand how reddit works, did EA answer anything at all?

Not yet. You'll see the responses when they do.

>mfw EA's entire marketing department gets pink slips for Christmas

It's useless they will just damage control and won't answer all questions. Too many persons will be there.

How do top comments work? The highest one sits at around 5k upvotes but the second comment is at over 15k.

>Top rated comment is a user bringing to attention the microtransaction shenanigans
Johnny normie learning and the world is a better place for it.

>we dont want people to exploit multiplayer!
>unless they pay to open lootboxes, thats fine

off to a riproarin' boogerfart of a start

>Top comment 2 hours old
>No response

Kek. How long do these usually take?

I've never felt more proud of Reddit than I do right now. Pretty much every single top comment brings up the microtransaction bullshit, and does so in a very well-put together manner, ensuring that EA can't pull the "harassment" card on them, being forced to resort to radio silence to try and save face. Good on you, /r/starwarsbattlefront. Good on you.

I think over at EA you have a whole bunch of PR people and suits trying to craft the best possible responses to each question.

>MGS3 poster is a reddit cocksucker

Why am I not surprised.

>Le leddit xD
>Get out of muh secret klub :(((

Kys EA kike. The people over there are trying to do something about this and meanwhile the contrarian faggots here were trying to group together idiots who would raid the thread asking for dumb shit like lower credits at the end of matches. Just for "epik lulz" xD

Why would they even do an AMA when they're getting this much flak?

Did they think Reddit is gonna suck their dicks?

>Kek. How long do these usually take?

I imagine there are a hilarious number of people they have to run their answers past first, hell, they're probably in one giant meeting at the moment with secretaries drafting up the board approved responses.

That's actually a good question. They could have just ignored everything. The game is coming out in 2 days. They can only hurt themselves by answering these hard-hitting questions. Unless they say "we will increase credits earned by ___ amount" or "we will decrease the price of loot boxes to __"

Meanwhile you're doing what? At least they're trying to do something to stop the EA jew

>who would raid the thread asking for dumb shit like lower credits at the end of matches. Just for "epik lulz" xD
Sounds pretty fun, maybe you're wrong here and need to go back kiddo. You think we give a shit about this shit here? The harder it burns, the better.

You have to be at least 18 years of age to post here.

And you don't fulfill that requirement, I get it. Just leave.

>hey are you guys willing to change the pricing of stuff
>W-WE'LL MAKE ADJUSTMENTS IN FUTURE
>hey what about the levelling system
>IT'S GETTING CHANGED
>how about the limited cosmetics and the fact that gameplay content is locked in lootboxes
>T-THAT'S CHANGING TOO

Basically all I'm getting from this so far is that EA KNEW that people would still buy the game and they wanted to milk as much as they could from the whales before dropping the prices and changing the lootbox content in a few weeks/months (probably after all the kiddies get it for christmas and spend all their money on boxes) so that the people boycotting change their minds and buy it anyway. They already raked in the early whale money and now they don't give a shit if people boycott.

>40 point comment
>Will you have private servers?

kek, taking the easy shots

>We never intended you to unlock all of the content

That the Ubisoft excuse to a similar issue. For Honor was the game

I-I-I'm rubber you're glue

You're absolutely pathetic, lad. Stop posting during class and pay attention to your studies.

Because the faggots here dont buy bullshit games like this series. We are just laughing at all the mad idiots that took this long to figure out why horse armor is bad.

They answered that top question (reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7d4qft/star_wars_battlefront_ii_dice_developer_ama/dpv9cio/?context=3)

Q:
>Lootboxes should be removed. These ruin the feeling of accomplishment, are a form of gambling, and are obviously an incentive for players to buy credits using micro-transactions. Currently, Battlefront feels like a free mobile game, not a $60-$80 AAA title. There should be absolutely no micro-transactions that affect progression. While we recognize that you need money to continue creating free DLC, it should not come at the expense of fair gameplay. A compromise can be limiting lootboxes to cosmetic items only, so you can still make money.

A:
>I'll take question 1. I think crates can be a fun addition as long as you don't feel forced to engage with them in order to progress. I feel that's where the issue is with our game right now and that's where we'll look to solve as quickly as we can. We're looking to add additional ways to progress your favorite character or class, while allowing crates to be a fun thing for those who want to engage with them.

It's 7pm here my dear Amerilard. Stop thinking the world revolves around you, although you might weight enough one day for it to happen.

They're avoiding all the upvoted questions

Replace the word "fun" with profitable and it almost feels honest

so instead of doing anything EA digs their hole even deeper?
what the hell is their problem?

>Lootboxes
>Fun

Why not just call them comfy and go full fucking retard?

What hole? Reddit is a small community, these hits are nothing. With nothingboxes they don't need to care, but they still have to do PR.

>but they still have to do PR.
which they're neglecting to do on the things anyone actually cares about

If they removed the lootboxes and made unlockables/upgrades progression based would you still buy it?

>Reddit is a small community
And the AMA is being shared across it, Sup Forums, likely most game and/or star wars forums, and even journalism websites like game informer.

how do i read this shit?

I mean all they have to do is make Star Cards cost credits instead of parts and then suddenly loot crates are optional again as they should be.

As of now there's literally no way to get crafting parts outside of crates

Yes, the starfighters are a ton of fun and almost worth the whole thong, but current progression is the only thing holding me back

>PR
It focuses on communication and is the basis trait that is taught, and that being said action isn't a requirement, but it is always preferable.

So far
>13000 comments
>9 of those have been answered
>5 of the answers are incomplete or purposefully dodged
LOL never buying this shit game even if it is fixed. Fucking scumbags.

Damage control

Think of it this way, doing this they're trying to appeal to those that are still indecisive on buying the game. So why not try to appeal to those suckers by saying "hey we're cool dudes just like you guys :)" and doing the AMA even though everyone hates them.

Also I think they're just waiting for someone to attack them/make up death threats so they can get pity points and write how they were LITERALLY attacked

I would be more likely to buy it than before

>We never intended you to unlock all of the content

that better not be a fucking real response...

>buying EA
What the fuck is wrong with you people? Why are you complaining in the first place, stop buying their shit no matter how sparkly it looks.

>We never intended you to unlock all of the content

that would be an even bigger PR disaster than the one comment with 690k downvotes

>One of the top comments answered is that he dislikes the P2W element, why not add cosmetic loot boxes only instead
>"Adding Cosmetic boxes is a great idea and we are planing to get it done ASAP
>No mention of the anti-P2W part of the question

Never change EA

>Thoughts?
We won't get any Interesting answers .

The Devs are most likely against the Lootcrates because they are aware how much it will hurt the gameplay.

>We want to double down on the cash shop

Nice.

>A: [I] wish the questions focused more on the amazing gameplay, design and graphical features present

What the fuck does that accomplish?

all of those are tarnished by the predatory cash shop practices

I like DICE but EA has thrown them in the mud for this and they don't deserve it.

Granted it might be more cosmetic in nature so no classes I think? Never played For Honor

>w-w-w-we poured our hearts and souls in the gameplay, the design, and the graphics.
>f-focus on that instead of the lootboxes guys

They're sliding. how dare you complain about the lootboxes when we put so much effort in to the game >:c

DICE is EA idiot. If you stop supporting EA, DICE will dissolve but that won't mean the death of the individuals that form the team. They'll move on to other companies and we'll see better gameplay from that new end.

Stop fucking buying EA in the first place and you won't have this problem.

Will it top Bill Nye not answering most of the questions?

>Everyone hates you
>Do an AMA
>Don't answer any questions because no one is sucking your dick
>People hate you more because you obviously ignore questions people want answers to

What did they expect

Yeah, 90% of the 'locked content' is just variants of armor that slightly change stats (i.e. More stamina gain but lower defense) in the 4v4 mode. The whole thing with that was basically
>We designed the game to be like a fighter where you had 2-3 'mains' and you'd try to just get stuff for them
All of the heroes only cost 500 of the currency, afaik, and you can get that much in 15 minutes.

they even hid the score on the dev replies

How the fuck can anyone stand Reddits format?

It's so counterproductive to any sort of discussion what so fucking ever.

>I feel that the score was impacted by the feedback on our progression system and obviously would have loved if that wasn't the case. I believe the gameplay, art, audio and depth warrants higher recognition, but I'm a developer, so I'm not necessarily the most unbiased source. Reviewers are obviously entitled to their own opinions, and we respect that completely.

What did they mean by this?

All the answers in the AMA is "We will look into it, we will analyze data" and so on and so forth.

what the fuck... if that was said by EA today it would have been nuclear. AMA isn't over from what I hear and they barely answered any questions at all, doubtless they will be mealy mouthed muppet responses that don't answer anything.

So basically blatant lie after blatant lie?

You fags have been shilling reddit forever. Do you really think the legion isn't there to fuck EA up?

>STOP TALKING ABOUT THE LOOTBOXES REEEEEEEEEEEEE
>LOOK AT ALL THE COOL SHIT WE DID IN THE GAME REEEEEEEEEEEEE

This is exactly what I thought was gonna happen. They're trying to get everyone to look past the lootboxes and focus on the actual game.

Except NOBODY on reddit right now wants to ask questions on the game. They want answers on the lootbox shit (which of course the devs are avoiding)

tl;dr Devs are fucking idiots

If you spent some time at school or worked you would realize every forum has a different format and has no bearing on discussion.

So wait. All the AMA'rs are devs, not the suits who pull the strings?

as they laugh all the way to the bank. or not because this game is a flaming wreck and millions of people are beginning to take notice now

this story just gets more and more crazy by the hour it feels

You're right EA gambling IS fun

The difference is that the things you unlock in For Honor are color palettes, emotes, and armor decals, and most of it is acquired just by playing without having to pay anything real or in-game.
Not cards that let you 1 shot people across the map that you had to peay to lootboxes to get.

of course, you didn't think EA executives would get on there themselves when they have plenty of figurative cannon fodder to take the heat?

Pretty much. It's a shame really that we have these fucking loot boxes. Because the game itself looks beautiful, the details, enviroments are really good. I recogonize stuff from clone wars episodes on Kamino for example. But they have to ruin it with this.

I don't think all the dice devs necessarily want this. It's obvious that some care by the details and work put into the game itself. Sucks for them i guess.

who's
>we
?

>dropping vast amounts of money into scamboxes for competitive advantages over others
>fun

just like I've been saying, blowing smoke up everyone's asses. boycott this game. if you buy it you are an idiot.

It sure will suck for them when EA wants them to go for a stroll down by the river.

What legion?

>If you spent some time at school or worked you would realize every forum has a different format and has no bearing on discussion.

Horseshit.

All I do as a television producer is facilitate communication.

Reddit is literally the worst format i've ever seen, twitter being a close second, for any sort of communication.

>People are realizing lootboxes are trash
>EA's major holiday release is crashing and burning
>The mouse is fucking pissed
Merry fucking christmas

>>The mouse is fucking pissed
After eating so many smaller companies, EA is going to get themselves eaten.
Qui-Gon was right. There's always a bigger fish.

>2017
>falling for bait
>buying EA

exactly, if you were to remove all the lootboxes, locked heroes and everything EA has done to fuck this game up you have a pretty decent star wars game, however it is absolutely diseased by microtransaction kikery that would make most cell phone cash sinks cower in shame. oh and its still 60 dollars... sorry 80 if you wanted lvl 4 star cards to kill all the noobs with

all the average uninformed joe has to do is buy the game, play it for a bit to realize all the heroes are locked and they are only allowed to play for a limited amount of time before they see right through this shit. fucking unbelievable.

>post yfw EA will die in your lifetime

>Prepare a set amount of pre-written "awnsers'
>Go through AMA and apply pre-written awnser written in a different form to questions that slot it in.
>Ignore literally fucking everything else.

"Arn't we great! We love dialogue!"

Fuck EA.

...

Exactly. It was really obvious when i tried the starfighter mode and got killed by people with much better starcards than i did. They took a really long time to kill as well.

>Yes, they are answering, but half of the time they're being mass-downvoted, so the answers can be hard to find
>mfw the AMA became such a shitshow the mods had to link directly to the developers' answers

What a beautiful trainwreck.

Do you seriously think the stockholders are going to answer anything? The most that can happen is the devs and managers getting kicked, of course the PR heads are 100% fired after this though

>every answer basically breaks down to "we're looking into it"

Great AMA EA!

I used to think the format here was abysmal (coming from funnyjunk), but I got used to it eventually. Reddit's is meh.

Even reddit is smart enough to know EA is dodging the actual questions.
Literally the only way for EA to save any kind of face here is to answer the uncomfortable questions, which they will never do.

...

Is there any way EA gets out of this unscathed with this much awful word-of-mouth going around?
Even if the game turns a huge profit, will Disney be ok with this kuch negative attention on the brand?

Well the game playing public as a whole has the memory of a goldfish, so once this all blows over it'll be back to business as usual. Just enjoy it for now.

How can people understand what's happening on reddit? I literally just see deleted comments, bots and le funny puns

>the only guy answering questions about loot crates and progression has the least answers
did he get axed?

>There's always a bigger fish.
Who the fuck is big enough to eat Disney then?

That's what I'd like to know. It's hard to tell considering it's Star Wars

>Who the fuck is big enough to eat Disney then?

China/Gabe.

I want to say google or facebook but I'm not really certain any of them could take Disney head on, perhaps Disney is the biggest fish? The literal Leviathan?
