Show me a console that can.

The shiny new Xbox One X can't do native 4k30fps, let alone actual native 4k at 60fps.

>tfw still using 1080p and didn't fall for the 4k meme

The 1080Ti is just $100 more and worth the upgrade if you're playing at native 4K.

>let's crank up AA to retarded levels just because episode

Jokes on you. I haven't played on my PC since I got a 1x.
>tfw mods for Skyrim look better on 1x than my PC

This.
Framerate >>>>>>>>>>>>>> resolution

This desu

Just wait for vega, it's getting released in 5 months max and if we assume that current trends of GPU performance progress will continue, the 1170 (a mid to high end card) will be able to run like the 1080ti from the current generation, which can play almost everythin at 4k60fps and max settings.

Not vega god fucking dammit, I meant volta.

god i so wish this 4k meme would die off and all the people who waster their money on a shitty meme monitor to burn in hell

30 fps is good enough for most single player games.

you only really need high framerate for online shooters, which aren't particularly heavy games to begin with

This, on anything other than racing games. It's upscaled/dynamic res garbage.

>1170
I thought they're going for the 2200 series next.

Is it possible to build a PC that can do native 4k 30fps for $500?

Who is forcing the 4k meme? There aren't very many 4k displays, players, or BDs, and what is there is way expensive, 4k performance with current GPUs isn't amazing either.

>god i so wish this 4k meme would die off

Why would it die off? It's the future.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is native 4K.

>WTF DEVELOPERS AREN'T TARGETING NON-TOP LEVEL CARDS FOR MAXIMUM GRAPHICS AND EXTREMELY OVERLY LARGE RENDERING RESOLUTIONS WTF
Turn the fucking settings down, or buy a card built around 4K. It's not fucking hard.

It's not the cards being shit, it's the developers making the 'Ultra' setting actually be impressive. God you retarded little shits that just expect everything to work magically and devs to never include a setting your system can't run are the most retarded, inbred fuckers around. Go back to consoles if you want everything to just werk.

>Only really need
Everything responds better with higher framerates and everything feels significantly better at higher framerates.
60 is good simply because it means that a camera in motion doesn't look like hot garbage.

And yet it looks worse than even 1080p ultra on PC.

first it was the SONY board now it's the microsoft one. TV builders fell in line too. how can people that handle this much money be stupid enough to not analyze the market first?

then again they've been pushing electric cars too and we're certainly not in a place to push up batteries to completely replace ICE like they want so I just don't know anymore

same I'm not even falling for the 1440p meme because I like higher framerates

Xbox One X

Same I can't justify paying so much for little change. I'll might give a fuck in the future when 10k or 20k arrives.

But 4K porn user

He meant at one that can handle 60fps, not 30.

we are definitely some time away from this being doable on a single card on Ultra

>first it was the SONY board now it's the microsoft one.
they started with this shit because of pc fats don't lie

stop comparing gaming PCs with a price tag of over 1000$ to the xbox one X with it's 500$.
Microsoft sells these consoles AT A LOSS. I can assure you, the graphics card alone would cost between 400-500$ in retail if Microsoft wouldn't set all their cards on this one console and sell it at a loss. It's a huge gamble on their part and I'm interested to see how it'll play out - it's undeniably the strongest and cheapest and best price/performance ratio gaming hardware out there right now. Just keep in mind if you buy it you'll have to pay for tacked on shit like internet costing money, and games generally costing more than on PC.

I have a 1440p 165hz monitor, you mad? Best from both worlds, and only cost 520€.

>What are graphics settings

there are others games that are native 4k.

Volta will handle 4k60fps.

At least that's what everyone hopes.

I like how PC players go from consoles holding gaming back to calling it a meme when they step their game up. Some people will never be happy I guess. God forbid people push the industry forward with competition.

Too bad it doesn't have games.

Volta is cancelled for consumers. Consumers will never get Volta.

Ampere then

What do you mean with "for single player games"? Are you that retarded that you do not see the difference between the 30 and 144 fps and think that high fps is only for the competitive edge and nothing to do with visual fluidity? Unless it is some 2d spriteshit 30 fps can be fine but for everything else 60+ is way better. Even XCOM (which is turnbased) I rather play in 60+ fps than 4k for some extra pixels and unresponsive 30 fps.

>he doesnt watch porn in interpolated 120 fps

>4k middle settings look not as good as 1080p ultra settings
As if better shadow, textures, aa is literally more important than a fucking resolution. But no, let´s push this 4k meme even further because it´s a shitty buzzword and sony just wanna push its 4k tv sales, because who gussed no ones buying it.

People laughed at ninty, because they still were at 540p while others pushed themselves to 720p-1080p went nearly bankrupt, made games literally million budget and introduced dlc.

And now look, now they are trying to push fucking 4k while they can´t even have steady 1080p games

reminder to just use 1440p and not 4k, 4k won't be a solid meme for another 3-4 years.

Nice deflection lmao

games push the industry forward not resolution

What's that?

No.

OHNONONO

Hardware push the industry forward. The games follow the hardware.

so that's why the xbox one has games, oh wait.

no it's like $640

the 3DO says hi

That's why the 1x had more support before it even released than pro does to this day.

That's barely above 3k resolution.

It has more games than any consoles.

and yet you can't name any examples

PC gaming is pathetic. Selling my steam account was the best thing i ever did

Literally this.

I play everything on ultra at a silky smooth framerate, I don't need to even think about upgrading anytime soon.

xbone x can only run 4k games at medium settings and even then the dynamic resolution plummets down below 1440p

nice list brah
LMFAO

How long will I have to say that 4k is a meme?
Here it goes again: 4k is a meme.

You can look for it. Never heard of a search engine?

so why didn't you? the burden of proof is on you.

the xbox one x doesnt even render at 4k. they use cheats such as checkerboard rendering or quarter rastariztion. heck many games that are advertised as 4k dont even run at 1080p at all.

xbox.com/en-us/games/xbox-one/xbox-one-x-enhanced-list

Forza 7 looks amazing. It's not just the 4K but the HDR that really sets this game and others apart. They weren't kidding when they said you can't build a PC to match the value of the new Xbox. It's hard enough trying to find a HDR monitor but to find a decent one at a decent price nearly impossible. I'm sure by next year we'll see more games on the Xbox running 4K/HDR@60fps.

Define a meme and why it's a meme.

>wait for polaris
>wait for vega
>wait for volta
I'm never going to upgrade at this rate.

that uncharted knock off couldnt even get 30 fps on 10k PCs at launch, it was a poorly coded game

I would rather shitpost in other thread than spoonfeeding.

There is some Native 4K games. It does render 4K kiddo. Y

4k is marketing bullshit unattainable with even the best of today's hardware. I own a 1080 Ti and it averages about 45 FPS in modern games at 2160p, that's fucking pathetic for a resolution that companies are trying so hard to push. I hate the name 4k too, 1920x1080 is closer to 2k than 3840x2160 is to 4k, but nobody calls 1080p 2k. It's all marketing. Framerate trumps resolution in all cases.

>every platform was captured in 4K except for the Playstation 4

>mfw using 900p monitor and can see the whole screen while using highest settings and getting a smooth 60+ fps on any game
>haven't bought a new gpu in years
mfw

>i'm just pretending to be retarded

Something people repeat over and over but has no bearing on reality.
4k is multiple times more demanding than 1080p and graphics cards are only getting marginally better.
4k for movies? Why not, I don't even know if it's being done. But not for games, not when dynamic shadows are still not something that is present in most games.
Having a game at 4k right now is the equivalent of taking out a loan for storing all your money when you win the lottery, it's fucking stupid.

I find it hilarious that any game that run in a native 4k on the xbox one x also runs above 60fps at 4k on a high end PC with cranked up settings.

Don't worry. As soon as you buy one people will tell you to wait for the next one. Just like every fucking time.

>But has no bearing on reality
Well this part of your post is stupid within this context. The rest of your post is a sound argument.

pretty sure xbone doesnt run it at 4k, and they are pretending like they dont sitll have xbone platform now their new 700 dollar shit that nobody will buy came out

Does this statement take into account how poorly ported ACO is?

XboneX run it at a maximum resolution of 3584x2016, which is very close to true 4K (3840x2160). Still good for an open world games with that shit CPU.

thats 2k, and to get it running at 160hz you need to add the 800$ 1080ti to have a decent sub 120fps.

>things that don't exist yet don't exist yet
I don't know why the surprise.
$600 GPUs haven't been able to handle 4k60 since home computers were invented.

Why does Nvidia wojak has a Luigi hat?

This. At 4k you don't need AA anymore.

Nor have I ever seen a game that benefitted from motion blur, lens flare, bloom, volumetric lighting, etc.

Max textures, Max resolution, Max Anisotrophic filtering, shadow detail depends, in some dark games it'll really help to turn it off so you can see where you're going, but in others having shadows on high can cause a big dip in framerate.

There's really no reason to run games at "maxed" settings anyways, especially since ~70% of the settings add visual noise and makes it less enjoyable to play.

Been playing 4K60FPS for about a year now on my GTX970 and shit's just fine, you just gotta stop being retarded with the graphic effects that don't do shit for the game's enjoyment.

>tfw when own a 1080ti
With
>i5
>1080p
>just one monitor
>16ram

I feel so fucking dirty.

Was it a waste lf money?

the 1070ti its 400$ retard if you pay more its cuz you are a retard. and that card its mid tier anyway

No. You are good for the next 3 years.

for the long run no.
if you upgrade your monitor, you need to upgrade your cpu/mobo. nothing more

Anyone in here use an OLED monitor? I've looked at a lot of 4K stuff and the LED and LCD sets just don't do 4K justice. Not to mention HDR. It's implemented so well on an OLED TV set. I haven't seen any PC games running on an good OLED monitor yet and was curious.

>There aren't very many 4k displays

It's actually pretty hard to find a current model year TV at $500 or so that isn't both a Smart TV and 4K.

Some may or may not have HDR support features. Some may have more HDMI inputs than others. Some might have better contrast ratios or backlight zones. Some might not suffer from as much motion blur or ghosting as others, etc.

yep, feels great
high smooth buttery frames with amazing detail settings
if the console cucks really wanted something to brag about having, it would be hardware HDR support
but then we can just counter with high refresh

Nothing on PC supports HDR or expanded color spaces well. It's a Windows problem. Expanded color support supposedly works fine for Mac OSX shit.

Do consoles really need to go 4k? 2k or 3 k is enough, as long as it runs well and is optimized. You wouldn't even tell the difference.

They use 2k in for movie size screens user. There is such a thing as diminishing returns. Resolution certainly is one of them, and high refresh is another(around 150hz).
So unless you have an absolutely massive projector, or sit with your eyes mere millimeters from the screen(VR), there isn't any justification.

Consoles can't even go 1k, it's just a marketing gimmick.

I just some research into HDR on PC games and there really isn't much out there right now. Strange because I thought it would have been widely available by now on the PC spectrum. I guess only TV manufacturers are putting this into all of their 4K sets now. I found this article and it seems to sum it up.

pcgamer.com/what-hdr-means-for-pc-gaming/

It does look like more and more content is coming to the PC but devs are using it in all of their console versions of games now. Looks like the trade off now between consoles and PC is frame rate vs. HDR or better colors/contrast in games. Interesting stuff.

Lol the absolute butthurt of this comment

OLED is what sold me on 4k.
