Worth getting 30% off?

Worth getting 30% off?

The only other AC games I liked were 1, 2, and 4.

I know the story won't be historically accurate, but does the setting feel authentic? Is it fun to explore?

imo it's worth it at 30% off. turning off the HUD and exploring is quite satisfying desu. huge map. combat is improved somewhat. won't be the best game you've ever played but it's solid and def an improvement over the past couple of games.

It's probably the best AC in the series, followed by 2, brotherhood and ac4

I'm not sure what to tell you. I'm really not digging the poor man's Dark Souls combat and how RPG-ish it is in terms of level mattering and that.

Where the fuck is it 30% off?

wait a year and get it for 5 dollars idoit, there are so many fuckngi game out right now you SHOULD finish first

Not hard to improve from Syndicate.

Neck yourself, shill.

How so?

>Neck yourself, shill.

not a shill

The setting (in my opinion) is the best one of the series, the main character the most likeable, the gameplay the best, the entire world just overall one of the better ones, its no surprise its my favourite AC considering its made by the same guy who made black flag, also one of my favourites

Didn't you like having to punch people fifty times in Syndicate? That game's combat was downright cartoony, made Unity's look actually good.

Are you sure you're not a shill, friend?

it's alright, they obviously took inspiration from witcher 3 in terms of combat and how they populated the world with shit to do.
The combat is better than the old asscreeds but still a bit wonky at times and certain weapons and abilities make all fights into a joke.
The exploration is good, although I kind of miss the "climbing puzzle" style locations they had in the early games but not everyone liked those anyway so take it as you will.

TL;DR
Its a decent asscreed that does a few things better but it still feels and plays like all the other asscreed games

Is the climbing better? Unity's system felt very on rails for some reason, I didn't like it at all.

i mean I had to use my own hard earned money to pay for the game, especially here in canada where it costs 80 dollars

Do you need uplay for this game?

>It's probably the best AC in the series, followed by 2, brotherhood and ac4

Fucking this.

You will get disagreements from butthurt pirate NEETs wishing they could play it.

Thank you Denuvo.

Its okay, they seemed to have changed some shit to make it easier but it'll still go full retard and do shit you don't want it to sometimes.

They obviously wanted a female protag but they learned from that other one that they'd lose money.

I rented it on ps4 and it was complete trash, like someone at ubisoft played witcher 3 and said "we need to rip this off as shittly as we can" but I'm going to pirate it when I can and see if it is any better on PC

No.

It's OK. The climbing feels a lot more scripted and not a puzzle you need to try and figure out.

Yes.

I disliked the other AC games as I thought they were boring and the combat was that shitty press counter to win crap. This game is actually fun though. It's nice to get to explore ancient Egypt and the surrounding areas. Its one of those eras we dont get much of.

But would the game have been better if it was set in Ptolemic Egypt? I feel like the Romans being there dilutes the history a bit.

You can climb like 99% of everything in this game

I would get it but that CPU usage thing scares me.

wait until it's about $20 or you'll feel ripped off. The game is empty and the story is terrible. The only redeeming feature is the graphics but you get used to that really quick.

>game is empty
t. BotW hater

If you liked Black Flag, you will like Origins

Besides 2 this is the only AC game I don't regret buying. Plus the combat mechanics are pretty nice once you get the hang of it and the exploring is probably the best in the series so far.

Didn't like BotW either.

Outside of large cities it sits at around 30% for me and even in big cities, where it's at 90%+ it hasn't been that much of an issue.

>The climbing feels a lot more scripted and not a puzzle you need to try and figure out.
This will never not bother me. Why did they have to change it like this? It takes out the fun.

tell me where you see it for 30% off and I will answer your question

I say don't get it because you honestly shouldn't be supporting shit like Ubisoft or EA at this point until they get their head out of their ass. But I will say it is legitimately the best AC game since the AC2 franchise and Black Flag. But seriously. Fuck their triple layer DRM bullshit.

what did you like about it

The world design mostly. Combat, story and sidequests are okay.

Its set in Ptolemic Egypt....

it ain't worth it for free

No I mean before the Romans invaded. Hell even before Alexander would have been OK.

the Romans don't invade in this game, that doesn't happen until after Julius dies and Mark Antony flees to Egypt

Yeah they needed to have you kill Caesar obviously. Thats just how it is with these games.

>tfw Bayek is the most likeable protag in all AC games

I wasn't ready for that

Once I got past the terribly paced and scripted intro sequence, I came to really enjoy this title. Much of what you do consists of fetch quest/hunt and kill missions, but that is to be expected. The world is breath taking and really does late kingdom Egypt some well deserved justice. I just wish that the character and animal animations were more fluid, I understand there was a lot for the teams to program, but seeing npcs and Bayek move in jerky fashions just makes the experience feel like an expansive last generation port.

Not him but one could easily mistake the greek soldiers for romans. They really romantified their artstyle a bit much in this game. Or maybe he meant the Romans in Cyrene.

Sorry, no, I just suck dick at history.

This board is in a s ad state when people unironically buy Ubishit.

no one cares :^)

it happens

They're literal shills. Ubisoft has been paying for fake positive reviews and fake positive chatter on social media. This is actually nothing new. Try asking any of these guys about the game. They know nothing about it outside of vague bullet points that they have to repeat.

lol

I'm not a shill and I unironically enjoy this game. I haven't yet bothered using the light bow and I literally see no point in using the predator bow when I can just melee animals.

I found it disappointing that you can't tame cobras in this game. I also enjoyed how I accidentally finished the "The Taste of her Sting" quest purely by exploring and finding a random crack to the wall of a cave. And it was cool because the only reason I knew to go there was by talking to local fisherman who suggested the island nearby is cool.

I'm currently looking for one of the papyrus scroll treasures near Letopolis.

Sickles are the best weapon.

Scepters are the best weapons thank you very much, also the warrior bow is like a shotgun and incredible

also camels > horses

They also probably give them a copy and tell them to leave it running on their computers to it racks up play time as "proof". The game doesn't have 100 hours worth of content. The story is done in 20ish hours and the rest is just finishing up the short list of activites.

Is there any benefit that camels have over horses?

Horses are 5% faster than camels and chariots are 5% faster than horses

the camel however reaches its top speed the fastest (something like 12 seconds as opposed to the horses 25 seconds) Either than that, its pure preference which is why camels are the best

Side quests in this game are quite fun though.

lmao dis nigga grasping at straws

Yeah, it's kind of staggering how likable and charismatic Bayek is compared to even Aya, who's a total edgecunt.

Camels make a weird ass noise I was legit scared the first time I heard it

They really tried to make Aya likeable and shit but the general consensus is shes a terrible human being with no redeeming qualities who leaves our best bro bayek because shes a bitch

she didn't even care about their son

Not a shill here; I got the game on PS4 and have done a majority of the content over the last few weeks.

Dunno really how to prove I'm not a shill, though I could answer anything about the game.

>that quest where you rescue a drunk Greek surrounded by crocodiles and then bring him back to his wife who married him while he was drunk and you then kill her brothers.

What's the light bow good for?

I use the predator bow to snipe enemies or animals in water. Otherwise, I used the Warrior bow. The only time I ever used another bow was the rapid-firing one (forget what it is called) on Elephants.

Sickles are great if you're abusing the powerup they get as their super move.

>What's the light bow good for?

not him but lmao literally nothing, that bow is shit compared to every bow, although I guess its only redeeming quality when I used it was the life on hit while fighting Anubis

Not him but the light bow is amazing with that slow motion jump ability

>That mission where you fight in the streets and the 'arena' is just regular NPCs around you cheering so when you do a finishing move you end up taking everyone down

>tfw spent more than half of the game using unarmed only and lining up bad guys and using the over power skill and drop kicking three or four enemies at a time

what a feeling

What's really frustrating is that I was excited to take down the next few targets early on, but Aya was all "Lol no I already did that" and it wasn't even cool assassination shit, it was literally that they both attacked her in a house and she killed them.

What really bothered me was being forced to use Aya for the finale of the game despite investing in Bayek all game.

I think a proper rendition of the system would be to give you access to swap between Bayek, Aya, and Layla whenever you want. Make it so Aya and Bayek have their own skilltrees and different movesets for the same weapontypes on a shared inventory. Make it so you can tag-team between Aya and Bayek to do assassination missions. Let the players decide when they want to play one character or the other. That'd be neat.

Give Layla some actual real world shit to do with her assassin skills growing as a culmination of her experiences as both Aya and Bayek, but don't make it mandatory--for instance, you could optionally steal Aya's mummy rather than just finding it, allowing the optional unlock of Aya as a playable character.

Black Friday sale on Xbox I think.

397221267 here, iirc Light Bows were the ones that fire a ton of arrows real fast. I think they're more worthwhile than Hunter Bows (which the predator bow overshadows entirely) but are still pretty niche. I used a light bow that had a fire enhancement to help take down Elephants, since it has its own arrow resource pool and does solid damage to them/helps build up adrenaline for a power attack.

Otherwise, I didn't use Light Bows very much.

I'm thinking they might do a AC2 type of deal where the next game will be Aya and Bayek again during the augustus/mark antony stuff

hopefully they go for the syndicate route of swapping between the two and not making Aya the main character cause really, fuck that nek

I wouldn't be surprised if Bayek's story is largely finished after Origins, with him being relegated to a guest appearance when Aya returns to Alexandria to kill Cleo

that'd be disappointing for real, I mean sure shes the one that has the statute in AC:Brother hood but shes so awful compared to Bayek

You mean the old kingdom right 1000 years prior. This is the ptolemic era

statue*

Never played Syndicate--can you swap between characters in that one?

I really didn't like Aya's weapon, though, luckily, every boss she had to fight could be easily hosed and if you did connect a hit, you could stagger the enemy through her whole combo.

It also upset me that, while Bayek was getting into this shit solely to avenge his son, Aya clearly knew they were being strung along to just be political assassins and she went along with that shit. She also seems really dejected when Bayek's finally getting into making the Brotherhood, but she ends up being the founder of it anyway and taking his credit. The whole ending cutscene for the game was such Aya wank that wasn't earned at all, imo.

the founding is a joint effort, though

I'll agree her ending wasn't really earned at all, though

you are not playing ASSASSINS DUDE LMAO like in unity, revelation or syndicate
story is more like AC2 or Black Flag, before Ezio become MAESTRO or whatever
most of the time you forget it's AC game, which is good, they should keep doing that

Unity and syndicate still not at 5 $ despite being shit
Explain this

Yeah you can swap between them in syndicate, still a trash game though

also yeah, Bayeks entire motive and his genuine grief was fantastic and then youre stuck playing this broad who only shows any warmth to Bayek when there are other people around and has very little grief when it comes to their dead son, I don't know why they made her try to seem like a bad ass when the entire game just made her seem like a frigid uncaring bitch

ubi never lowers prices, AC2 is still way too expensive for it's age

>worth pirating for 100% off?
if you really like ac i guess
it's just the same shit over and over though

name me 4 that arent Mario (lol) BoTW(lol) Wolfenstein 2 (lol) or BattleFront2(lmao)

>and has very little grief when it comes to their dead son
are you blind? or socially retarded?

no

is this how retarded Sup Forums is nowdays?

she showed literally no grief for her dead son she instead worked for Cleopatra and tricked Bayek into making him think the people he was killing murdered their son (they didnt)

I don't know much about Xbox but if the discount could go lower, maybe wait? Poorfag or no, maybe you should wait and shit.
Haven't even played it yet. But here I was thinking maybe they'll go for an AC1 remake? During the first siege, you've got a dead assassin still gripping an arrow-riddled shield, so no need explaining the no-shield thing in the original other than "lol your arab man is an arrogant ass"

hi ubisoft
didn't realize the marketing force was up at 2am on a friday night, they got you working those long hours huh

Total War Warhammer 2
Near A Tomato
Nioh
XCOM 2 War of the Chosen

half of them did, what are you on about? did you finish the game? did you miss her breakdown after siwa?
they paced it perfectly basically what she did work work work - boiling point - breakdown
grief 101, they wrote her by the book

all worse than origins

Not the guy you're responding to, but, literally, we're given tons of scenes showing how tortured Bayek is over the death of his son. When avenging Khemu is mentioned to Aya, she hardly gets the same treatment and often seems much more focused on eating out Cleopatra and killing whoever the higher ups tell her and, at the end, insisting she's some death poet.

hello Ubishill

no

What breakdown scene do you mean, user?
I have finished the game and don't remember much.

nope, try again though, you might come up with some better games maybe even some that have some semblance of being even a tiny bit good

shoo shoo, Ubishill

I might pick it up used. I swore to never give Ubisoft money again

you weren't to many funerals user?
near their son grave if you want to be specific
also how they said goodbye near Pharos, she was written as that type, I know people like this
it all made sense to me.

I see you failed to post some more games that people SHOULD beat, but hey, maybe next time you come to the table you'll bring some food
