It's a fun pirate game, but the ship combat does start to lose its wow factor after awhile

It's good. Play like a pirate though. Throw out all the assassin crap you used in the previous games.

The best or at least the second best AC, after the first one

Nice pirate game, just ignore all the assassin bullshit

Well "good" is part of your personal taste, I'd say it's good, though there is legitimate criticism out there.

I know a few normies that love it, and they love it for the whaling minigame that was completely aped from RE4's shittiest boss. Don't bother.

It's pure pwnage good sir, with many unexpted >feels when

you must buy this KEK wills it!

It's fun but gets old as fuck quickly.

It's worth a play through. Especially for as cheap as it's been lately.

I think it's shit simply for having braindead combat like most ACs but the pirate shit might help you ignore that.

The main plot is tedious as shit, but the ship gameplay is pretty fun. Nothing particularly deep, but worth playing.

eavesdropping simulator

Are there mods that make the game decent

I'm currently pirating it and installing it.
It's the full game with DLC.
What am i in for?!
Is it worth pirating the later installments too?

>I'm currently pirating it

And this is why you need a 12 core CPU to run the latest installment.

?

I'm enjoying it a lot.
It would be a perfect game if it wasn't held down by the assassin's creed part of it.

The ship stuff is where it shines. When you start out your ship is pretty weak and can only really handle other small ships like schooners without and anything your size or larger is dangerous. Then as you upgrade your ship you are able to take on bigger ships and in greater numbers. And the only way to upgrade your ship is by using resources like wood and metal being carried by other ships. Since it's open world you can sail over to areas with all the big ships if you want, and trying to navigate through really dangerous waters because there's a harpooning spot you need to visit to complete a crafting upgrade was real interesting.

I remember the first time I boarded a man-o-war.
I was sailing south for a reason I don't quite remember when I happened across an English man-o-war fighting a small fleet of Spanish ships. My ship was only halfway upgraded at the time and I probably wouldn't have been able to take the man-o-war on my own, but in this situation I decided to start shooting it while being careful not to hit the Spaniards. It started shooting me a bit but it was already at a low enough health that I was able to disable and board it fairly quick. It was pretty exciting for me.

Have you played an AC before?
It's a good AC but I don't think AC is a good game series. i.e. overall it's a mediocre game because AC is a mediocre franchise.

still looks pretty great, controls are smooth. huge map, sea shanties are cozy as fuck, only cutscenes i've bothered watching in a game for ages.

but its shallow as fuck and full of Ubishit open map grinding and the gameplay really doesn't go anywhere. you can sprint assassinate the entire game without getting detected, the tools are mostly worthless and unnecessary. you have to grind ship battles to get resources to be able to survive the seas where story missions send you.

all in all, i only downloaded to have something my casual friend and his son could play when they were visiting, but i ended up putting in 20-30 hours myself. mostly for sea shanties and nice landscapes.

>implying this place isn't full of normies
Just look through the thread, dumbass.

The game is mediocre, full of tailing and eavesdropping bullshit and a mobile-game-tier minigame that's required to unlock everything. I played the PS4 version a couple years after it released and still experienced shit like enemies automatically detecting me from behind cover and multiple instances of Edward just not climbing/jumping where you want him to go.

It's very fun at least, also the ending is bittersweet

you get to ride around on a boat while listening to sea shanties, and occasionally sneak around as a side thing
i give it a cool boat/10

Game is gud, buuut the best part consists of the main character saying "FIRE" about 20 billion times

The primary core of the game (assassin missions) is still complete shit

People like it because of the sailing and "piracy" which is extremely basic and a repetitive grindfest

At the time it was the best pirate game in over a decade, dunno if it still holds that title.

there aren't that many good pirate games, so probably

It would have been better as a new IP focused solely on pirates. The assassin stuff is tacked on at best.

WHEN DO I GET TO BE A PIRATE AGAIN!!!

I was taking out of this test thing and i'm walking around with a shitty red haired women.
Also what the fuck happened to Desmond and his plotline? Last game i played was 3 and Desmond either died or the world was destroyed have they scrapped that completely?

Never.
The Desmond plotline is ended. There were no multiple endings, its very clear what happened.

There's actually some desmond in AC IV in those sekrit files unlocked from the real-life portion collectibles.

All the memories you're playing through in AC IV are harvested from Desmond's corpse.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you aren't counting the special edition of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2 since they are remasters of older games.

>There were no multiple endings, its very clear what happened.
Care to elaborate?
Oh damn so you're still playing as Desmonds ancestor in this game, so it's a continuation of what ever happened in 3? But there is that 'godly' women who wanted to take over the world so is that something they've yet to touch upon or scrapped?

RUNNING DOWN TO CUBA WITH A LOAD OF SUGAR!

In my opinion it would have been better if it was just a pirate game and dropped the whole assasin thing completely.

>Care to elaborate?
What is there to elaborate? Did you even pay attention?
Since the first game, the point was to avert the 2012 cataclysm. It was, at the expense of Desmond's life and freeing Juno.
The end.

Also, no, you are not solely playing Desmond's ancestors. Freedom Cry is played using DNA from someone different, as is Liberations and Origins. Not sure about Syndicate.

Have you finished AC IV? Don't see this spoiler if you haven't

The husband of the spooky ghost woman in ACIII reincarnated as the technician "helping" you in AC IV. Throughout AC IV he's trying to turn the player into a vessel for the ghost lady, but it didn't work.

>blog.livedoor.jp/isayamahazime/archives/9607152.html#more
No i wasn't paying attention because no offense, it was bloody boring and i've forgotten how it played out.. Thanks for the clarification nonetheless.
