Will anything good ever come out of VR?

Will anything good ever come out of VR?

or will we only see more novelty games that are only fun for 5 minutes?

I became a lifetime user of VR the day i first tried it, i assume there are others like me

god damn meat for days. is this legal and where are hogs so plenty?

Good things will come, it's simply a matter of time. HDTVs existed in 2003, but there wasn't much HD content until around 2009-2010. Likewise, consumer VR like the Vive/OR/PSVR has only been around for about 2 years, plus it requires expensive computing hardware to actually use it. As the cost of computing hardware goes down, more people will probably buy VR kits, and with that will come more developers willing to get ambitious with it.

yes, feral pigs are a menace and its legal to hunt them year round without limit in many US states but especially Texas. they basically destroy the environment and fuck up the natural ecosystems

Same. I thought it was the dumbest concept and would suck like old VR and Wii motion controls, but I was floored. I bought my own headset and upgraded my rig.

What I really wonder is, how is VR porn? Are there cool VR porn games yet?

>not Blood & Bacon HD remake

the last batch of illusion games have all had varying amounts of vr support natively or with mods

...

If it was going to take off, it would have already
no, the 'next gen' will not save it
its dead, jim

Yeah, particularly in the southern US where wild boars are a destructive species.

fucking kek
wtf is wrong with Japan.
I love those guys.

I have followed the new vr development since the start of the rift Kickstarter. Was just called Oculus then but saying the Oculus feels stupid now. Anyways I have yet to buy one, I'm gonna get one before years end since the rift dropped in price I feel I can finally justified it also seeing all the VR chat videos really makes me finally get a hmd.

I think the more people we have in VR will allow developers to make bigger and better games, as of right now nobody really wanna make a full length game and would rather make a piss easy tech demo as a quick cash grab.

The Sonybros over at /r/psvr are totally globbing on Bethesdas cock right now, calling Skyrim VR the killer app. Bethesda even posted there to tell them how they enjoyed it. Pic related.

>where are hogs so plenty?
you can literally see hundreds at a time in central Florida
they are fucking everywhere

VR's pretty great already.

the piglets are still super cute though

wew at that poor piggy on the left that got crushed

One of the little ones makes it out of the back. Good luck piggy.

youtube.com/watch?v=P4XhS-Gja7c

I know a guy that likes to hunt them from his helicopter. Full auto.

Yeah, for years now. Maybe you should actually look instead of rehashing old memes.

Just poison the fucking things

thats no fun

Don't poison my carnitas.

Yes! Kill the other wildlife and possibly ourselves! Much better!

texas

Something so satisfying about pig slaying. Those wiley fucking Texans that shoot miniguns at them from technicals and ARs from helicopters. I bet that's fun as fuck.

If You randomly pick up food off the ground in the middle of no where and eat it. Then it is ok for you to just kys right now.

you cant eat the meat

What's the best caliber to kill piggies?
.50AE?
10mm?
5.56?
7.62 Nato?
.30-06?

I usually use 9mm for self defense, but with piggies I feel like I'd want to watch them get BTFO

>no hurt babbehs nuuuuuuuuu.webm

youtu.be/i7MVb_rv5sQ

If you have PSVR, buy this game. It's brilliant.

Girls either look like giants or are too far away

theres already great things in VR, people just can't afford it so they'll never know.

youtube.com/watch?v=rkDrMbQhh3Y&t=

start that at around 2 minutes. those aren't shitty animations, you have to perform every action from reloading, to reaching to your shoulder to use your radio, to reaching for your knife and stabbing someone. Wanna reload that belt fed M249? better have a basic grasp of how its done in real life.

Wild Boars are astoundingly resilient and improperly dosed poison is not a guaranteed kill.

A boar with poison in its system that gets picked up by a hunter could kill his kids if they eat the meat.

There are other ways for that shit to get into us as well as the impact on other wildlife that eats the poison or the poisoned.

We're practically doomed because bees are going extinct from spraying. Stop lopping chemicals like it's some magical crap with no consciousnesses

I fucking blocked that shit outta my memory, why did you need to remind me?

>Girls either look like giants
That's my fetish.
>or are too far away
That's close to home.

>*consequences

But those comics are so cathartic.

The basic problem with head mounted displays is, they live in a user interface uncanny valley. In a normal game, you press a button (on a mouse or controller) and your character---swings or fires a weapon, or jumps, or climbs over an obstacle, or casts a spell, or whatever. It works because the robustness of our perception fills in the gap, and, like a driver who thinks "shift into second" rather than "release the throttle, press the clutch, move the shifter, release the clutch while reengaging the throttle," pressing the button becomes the action.
HMDs put this front-and-center, which is why the tech demos focus on more closely matching the player's action to the simulated action, but that isn't generalizable.
This is what's standing in the way. Not higher resolution or cables or Fresnel lenses or whatever other tech aspie thing, there's a fundamental design flaw.

>2017
>Still trying to shit on VR

Why though? People (actual people) love it when they try it and it will only get better in time. Companies are dead set on technology for it.

It's not going away. I don't know why you're so invested in it failing but you lost the bet. Let it go.

...

Ruining good pork with a gun that costs $15 per second to fire. Wew capitalism baby.

Only in America will people angrily defend their right to fire a mini gun at a pig after fucking their sister

Yeah. It seems like VR only truly kicked off once the Rift got it's own motion controllers. Now it's weird to see a VR game that doesn't use them.

I think thinks are already generalising though. Games like Skyrim are dealing with motion sickness with view 'shutters' whenever you and even the infamous teleport is getting more practical. The Bladerunner 'Memory Lab' demo using the same controls as Robo Recall to point the direction you teleport in.

It's like the 90s again. The use of WASD keys was an emergent thing, not designed. As such, VR has to take it's baby steps before it can find the best way to do things.

O B S E S S E D

>hating freedom
This is an American website

Flight games will make a big comeback
youtube.com/watch?v=ibx6p_V4lQk

The highest calibur you have. 9mm will do nothing to a boar. You could unload a full mag into one and do nothing.

>trying to pull like 20 degrees with that low ass speed
Holy shit was it his first time flying or is he just that shit

>Poor little boar just want to eat something
>gets shoot

Why is the world such trash

5.56 is fun, 7.62RFN is effective too, .30-06 not so much due to the types of rifles that use it. 45-70 levergats are very effective. Handgun wise .357 or larger. Personally 44magnum or .45, .50AE works but is still just a meme

>being this clueless about flight games

because of poor little boar being in groups of a shitload more of them and their breeding being out of control

>Poor little boar
They make the world trash. That's why you fill them with holes and/or lead before they can do more damage to the ecosystem

maybe something was wrong with his plen

>I never played a flight sim
The fact that he pulled that much with that little speed means that he is a fucking retard. If he was taking off he was going way too fucking slow. If landing at that airfield ahead he was STILL going too slow and flying too low to even get near it. He isn't bingo either way so he's just a fucking retard. you're probably a /simg/ autist that's never actually played in ops so why do I even bother

The only wrong thing was his actions.

>Poor little boar just want to eat something
So does every living thing on the planet. Many at the ones eaten.

Normally natural predators would keep boars under control but humans killed and chased the predators out to protect themselves, so humans have to take on their role.

It's actually pretty amazing how much we've fucked up environments why removing predators simply because they might target us. Look up videos about the wolves reintroduced to Yellowstone park and you see there's a giant domino effect.

>meat
You will become very sick, diseased, and/or have a high chance at getting an STD from older hogs.
>Is this legal
Of course. Hunting is legal in every state.
>where are the hogs so plenty
Everywhere south of North Carolina.

You don't even know

youtube.com/watch?v=fFdCPbcItuM

I play have the PSVR on an OG PS4, i know its not as good as other VR solutions but I personally love it. I look forward to more powerful but affordable solutions in the future.

You know what VR game I always wanted to happen? A remake of Clock Tower.

dis gon b gud

Woman detected

I wish they would make more Cabela's games. I'd love one of them in VR

Is the meat eatable? I mean it should be, but I'm pretty sure a wild hog carries more diseases than a pig.

>wake up
>pour coffee
>there's a helicopter shooting shit all over your field

The payday 2 VR beta just came out.

It's breddy gud apart from no smooth locomotion.

God bless 'merica.

That's sad

> Those wiley fucking Texans
That made me chuckle

Here in Argentina we have a big porblem with wild hogs. In my town is common to give a hog as gift, its meat has some weird taste so we cook it with black beer or a srong condimment to eat it.

shit that would actually work really well in vr

I just want to be able to explore the most memorable places in FF games like Balamb Garden, Lindblum, Burmecia, Alexandria, even the over worlds themselves somehow. even places from other games like the entire Arklay mansion

>being this jelly that you will never hunt boars with a minigun

That would be pretty cool to see somebody recreate as SteamVR or VRchat environments.

Pay me.

I'd be way too chicken shit to play that.

Now I understand why gaming is an issue with VR. But where the FUCK is other shit that would fly off the shelf. How about a bunch of stuff catered to poor people like me who can't afford to travel. For example, live concerts. Being able to tour great museums in France. Or exotic landscape in China. Or scuba diving in the Bahamas. Or land a fucking rover on the moon and let kids experience what walking on it is like. Hell, how about doing a VR experience deep in the most dangerous places in the world. Experience all the danger of living in gang infested cities. Tell me you guys wouldn't watch the shit out of that.

Descent too
youtu.be/zMTRa0lsAe8
I want vr just for this game

maximum comfy

>high chance at getting an STD from older hogs.
You are not supposed to fuck them.

Amen and God bless.

Blame nature.
Or god, if that's more your cup of tea.
