Does this ever actually become a game? I've spent three hours having a conversation simulator, cleaning a room, flipping closed/signs, wandering about a school, going from point A to point B to have ANOTHER FUCKING CONVERSATION! In that time, three fucking hours, I've fought three groups of enemies in a magical gym teachers castle, then the midget cat monster with me made me stop that shit because this was damn near on the verge of FINALLY BECOMING A FUCKING GAME and apparently we can't have that fucking shit. So I returned to highschool so I could continue running from point A to point B to CONTINUE MORE CONVERSATIONS! FUCK YEAH!!!

WHEN DOES THIS PEICE OF SHIT TURN INTO A PLAYABLE GODDAMN JRPG!?

Or is this it? Is this what the Persona series is? 90% angsty talky bullshit with 10% actual game thrown in every now and then?

it gets good after 10 hours

Just drop the game and download the soundtrack.

this is about right desu but the first boss is the best too

>Plays game with a focus on story

>gets angry when there is a story

loving every laugh

the first everything is the best then the game loses all steam and nosedives in quality

>not liking the running around high school and chilling with your friends
I think you bought the wrong game.

Persona is a game for people who like visual novels 1st and jrpgs second. I enjoyed it all even the slow beginning

that's what I'm doing with xenoblade 2. looks like such a chore to play.

If you don't like what you've seen, drop the game now. There is no "real game" after this, it never gets deeper.

That is the game. If you don't like it, the game's just not for you.

P5 has a really long tutorial phase that ends when you get your first party member.
It's worth noting that the rest of the game will be like this - each arc begins with an hour or so of pure story and cutscenes (usually a week or so of ingame time), before you're given the freedom to spend the next two or three weeks of ingame time as you wish.

Lol, I fell for the Persona 5 meme too. It's just reading text. It's really not for me.

>He fell for the Persona meme
Lovin every laugh

It does become a game, yeah. Just not a good one. Save yourself the time.

I borrowed it for the high school sim but the way it goes about it isnt fun. Feels, scripted or something

Its a visual novel with gameplay lol

persona games are only for THE biggest weebs on the planet. you should have realized this

I get what you mean, for me Persona is just a relaxing game I play for an hour our 2 after I workout or at the end of the day to just unwind. I've been playing 5 off and on for like 6 months and still enjoy it, but it's not really a good game per se but I enjoy it the way I experience it.

It's so controlled and linear. I was expected there to be more options but the sheer amount you're constricted is utterly horrible.

If you want an honest answer and not one from some nu male from Neofag who never played a Persona game before and yet claims this flaming pile of shit to be GOTY-

The game actually opens up in late May. It does not get any better. A ton of the script and dialogue is repeated. All dungeons will be long affairs where you keep getting interrupted with cutscenes. The game is a major disappointment after being an adamant fan of Persona 3 and 4. I suggest you play one of those instead as your intro Persona game.

>Or is this it? Is this what the Persona series is? 90% angsty talky bullshit with 10% actual game thrown in every now and then?
Yeah, but I like it like that. Welcome to JRPGs, nerd.

Your options for doing things get much better by the third Palace. However, most of those things are outside of the school, so it will never be a fun high school sim for you. I'd argue it's a realistic HS sim (everything sucks and is boring, you only pay just enough attention to pass your exams), but not a fun/accomodating one like 3 and 4 were.

>he started with the fifth game in the series
retarded speedplayer, what did you expect?

I stopped playing during the second dungeon, it's a shame because the aesthetics are brilliant it just isn't fun.

I still listen to the soundtrack though

Currently on my second playthrough and I'm having the opposite problem- I'm trying to do all dungeons in one day so I can complete all the social links in this playthrough but it gets pretty tedious at times

Assuming your social stats are maxed, and you abuse Fortune and Temperance carryover bonuses, completing all confidants on NG+ is easy. I had read all the books and completed every confidant but Haru and Futaba before the 6th heist, and spent most of December fishing and finishing off the videogames.
That Guardian fish is a tougher boss than fucking Shido and Yaldy combined.

>>WHEN DOES THIS PEICE OF SHIT TURN INTO A PLAYABLE GODDAMN JRPG!
>LEL IM SO EDGY MY OPINION MATTERS MORE

Just fuck off if you have the attention span of a fish. Go play Mario faggot.

Yeah, I kinda wish they'd just make it a full VN since the gameplay isn't deep enough, and whenever I'm playing the dungeons I'm just trying to speed through to see the next cut-scenes. The other direction that could work is
for them to open up the strategy in the combat a lot, though I'm not sure how, maybe with map positioning and then lose the instanced fights. They can only do the same combat system so many times before it gets really boring.

Thats persona for you. Im sick of persona for different reasons and actually enjoy the things you dislike though.

Except September, where there is almost THREE fucking weeks that you can't do anything.

>Does this ever actually become a game?

It does. It takes literally eight hours (EIGHT (8) HOURS) but eventually you will get out of the tutorial segment and can choose what to do each day on your own without being pulled from your dick all over the town. Promise.

Yeah, and an eight hour tutorial is really fucking idiotic thing to have.

lol wut? I caught the guardian fish easily.

For comparison, P4's tutorial was five hours long and P3's tutorial abut three hours. They've for some reason increased the length of these quasi-interactive sections every game.

I think the challenge is supposed to be designed around limited SP, and random encounters being able to kill you in one or two attacks. The problem is that both of those things are trivialized by the second/third Palace (SP Adhesives, and Personas that can easily null multiple elements). Maybe if you fought more enemies at a time.
SRPG/TRPG would be a cool idea, especially since we have the entire party travelling together. Imagine 8 Persona users on a map against 10~30 enemies.

For further comparison, how long was the tutorial/intro part of KH2? That was the last time I remember players making a big deal about long tutorial sections, but that came out before P4.

yeah me too, first try even. first time I went fishing too iirc.

what a disappointment coming off of p4g

True American patriots
Reading is for faggots

Game peaks at kamoshida and then plunges into the abyss at the cruise level

Maybe it has something to do with how bad the writing is

It gets good after 10 hours for like 30 minutes before going back to the garbage OP described for the last 90 hours.

Persona 5 is irredeemable garbage.

>P5 has a really long tutorial phase that ends when you get your first party member.
The tutorial phase never ends. 60 hours in I got a message that said (paraphrased) "Go to Mementos to fight enemies and get stronger!"

Can't make this shit up.

Why are you complaining about a (on average) 90 hour game when you're 3 hours in? If you're seriously that impatient stop playing and go back to battlefront

Although I agree that it doesn't end, hints don't = tutorial. Idiot

Play 3 and 4 instead. 5 was a mistake

We're talking about Persona 5, not your mom

It's not story, persona is pretty much a visual novel with some gameplay

This
I thought p4 had a long tutorial but oh boy i was wrong

>it's not story, it's story
Yup.
>Some
Okay, now you only watched LPs.

Oh please don't pretend 3 and 4 don't have way bigger lulls in actual narrative and gameplay.
3 doesn't actually start having a genuine endgame until September, and 4 spends weeks just mindlessly doing social links.

So we can all agree 1 and 2 are GOAT, right?

Next time do your research before buying a game you mongrel.

We live in the goddamn information age for fuck sake. Gamers not even once.

Yes

>Is this what the Persona series is? 90% angsty talky bullshit with 10% actual game
yes. Welcome to Persona

Have you never touched a JRPG in your life? Be glad you didn't start with 4, which takes several hours before you're even into the tutorial. I was shocked at how fast 5 put you into the school dungeon. It's an 80 hour game and you're upset you haven't finished the prologue in 3.

To be fair, it does take a while to get going. A lot of tutorials and tutorial fights to get through.

That said, Persona has always been half RPG half visual novel, so if you can't stand anime highschoolers chatting it up then just stop playing.

Maybe you should check out the newest madden or call of duty game instead, my good nigger

I loved it, but there is a hell of a lot of talking. Stick with it until you get Ann in your party and do the first palace. If you're not into it after that then drop it.

No

Remember to choose her

no

Is playing through the original P4 for my second playthrough worth it?

What a laughable statement. Remove the repetitive, dull, uninspired dialogue and it's hardly a ten hour game with a pretty but impractical UI.

>LITERALLY GOTY NOMINATED by the normalfags

stay mad Sup Forumseogaf

What's your fucking problem with my wife?.

She's boring as shit. She's still more interesting than Yukiko, though.

sadly this s true...but i still love it though

Let's not insult yukiko like that. Not even yukiko is as boring as makoto

This

How is P5 normalfag? One million sales, 40% of which are in Japan.

PUBG is the normalfag nomination, its the personification of modern mainstream vidya.

>man i can't wait to pick up an atlus rpg
>which one should i pick? persona with focus on story and social links or SMT which is focused on dungeons and gameplay?
>persona is opposite of what i like, therefore i chose thee!
Thanks for the sale.
