this what was the last game that had locked content? BotW? I know odyssey has amiibos too but nothing they give you is locked content as you can get it in-game without amiibos at all, so this thread is about 9 months late. The amiibo fad is practically dead now.

With BotW amiibo you only miss some paper-thin weapons, useless armor, Epona(a litteral whorse, and the Wolf Link Follower(who is shit at 3 hearts). That’s not even DLC, it’s just sad.

Can't really defend it but it must be cool for those who actually like to collect stuff like this. I bought the $40 amiiqo so I don't have to worry about missing content here and there.

Um I don't know the only I can can think off the top my head is mario party 10 amiibo party and that game midis shit.

A) They're not mandatory to enjoy the game
B) They serve a function outside of the game, ie being ornamental and
C) Implementation is entirely down to the developers not Nintendo. Whether a game even uses amiibo or not is totally optional.

Naturally I won't defend shit like Metroid using Amiibo to unlock an extra difficulty, but like 99% of amiibo unlockables so far are just vanity content you can get at end game.

Nobody does, the industry came out with a far worse idea that makes (the bad side of amiibo) meaningless.

I buy amiibo to mostly have a cool looking figurine.
I guarantee you that over half of the ones I have, have never touched an NFC point.

The DLC is pretty minor and doesnt really affect gameplay (except Twilight princess) Honestly my biggest issue with it is that they discontinue them which leads to DLC becoming more expensive (although it means you can technically make more money like a magic card or TF2 item) I would prefer if they made Cards with chips in them that allowed you to get the items after they stop making a figure. I would get them for anything i missed. i would still buy figures because i own a few and its really only because i enjoy what they look like.
