Can we have a thread for this game? Anyone playing it for the first time since the sale this week? I've been playing non stop and just most recently did Chun-Nan Night, the Dark Gaia Phoenix right after, Spagonia Day, and then Chun-Nan day. I think I have a boss coming up. The game is fantastic so far, my favorite day level was Holoska and my favorite night level was Spagonia or Chun-Nan. What were yours? About how much more is left of the game? It feels massive but I know Sonic games tend to be short.

You still have another 4 hubs to visit with day and night stages and boy is the final stages gonna take your asshole for a ride. Fucking 30+ minutes
This truly is a grand adventure, and my favorite Sonic game. Nothing more thrilling than learning the levels, getting a tempo, and speeding through the world.
My favorite day levels include act 1 of Spagonia, act 2 of Apotos, Act 1 of Chun-Nan and act 4 of Apotos...
THat’s right, Act 4, as in DLC.
I recommend you buy all the DLC. It’s actually quite fun!
Damn 4? That's great to hear, so about halfway. I've been replaying levels looking for medals and collectibles, grinding for EXP, and trying to do faster runs. I realized you can skip some mobs in night levels if you are really trying to speed run. I have 53 lives now so I think I can muster some more before the final levels fuck my shit up.
I know exactly what you mean. The levels are so fun to replay and I keep doing them over and over. Going from like 8+ minutes to 6, to 5, to 3 etc has been really addicting. I think I have mastered Apotos and Mazuri, day and night, by now, as far as tutorial/early levels go, I find them to be excellently designed. I definitely gotta get the DLC once I beat the game, I saw it in the store.
They need to make it backwards compatible for the Xbone.
Imagine if it got X enhanced. Would probably buy one just for that. I think this game actually has the best graphics and lighting I have ever seen in a game. Modern games look sharper but the attention to detail and intensity of scenes and all the different color vibrancy and hues and all that other artsy shit, this one takes the cake. Chun-Nan night looked absolutely phenomenal, the Asian styled bridges, buildings, and general architecture combined with the mountainous area and moonlit river.
>The man who made The Thing and They Live loves this game
Why does a 2008 Sonic game on past gen hardware look prettier than Forces?
Last game to have an actual noticeable budget.
Wait...John Carpenter loves this game? As if I needed any more reasons to love him.
I just beat the Egg Devil Ray boss in Spagonia, fixed another chunk of the world, and am about to start Holoska Night. Any advice anons or more easy going? The enemies and levels are definitely starting to get harder, based off Chun-Nan and Spagonia Night. I realized putting EXP into the shield was a waste.
The OST is amazing.
>shield
Nigga you fucking stupid. You should've been upgrading Strength, Combat, and Unleashed the entire time. Life maybe if you're a scrub but shield is fucking useless. Skyscraper Scamper(Empire City) will mostly be platforming but enemies will start getting a little harder at Arid Sands(Shamar), Jungle Joyride(Adabat), and of course Eggmanland.
I want to like this game, but the Werehog is a slog compared to the daytime stages and all of the padding is a huge turn-off.
Sega should've just made this into a movie.
Better plotline than most jewlywood movies being shit out.
I know I fucked up. At least it's only level 4 though and it was pretty cheap to get. I thought I would use it more. I mainly use it to roll away and launch into an aerial attack which is satisfying to do. Unleashed is the one I actually have been ignoring, it's only level 2 but I can tell that bigger bar is going to be useful later. Well shit man thanks. I just beat Holoska Night at 28 minutes, this was the longest level yet but I really loved the environmental transitions from chilly, watery arctics to cavernous with traps and pitfalls. Also that little blue tint that the area lights gave off was gorgeous. Another portal just opened, time to fuck up another boss. I'll be back in a few mins
Its gonna be really useful. I don't want to completely spoil you on the final level but there are two titans at the end of eggmanland and a decent sized unleashed bar will really help take those annoying fucks out quickly. Good to hear you're enjoying the game. Unleashed is actually my favorite boost Sonic game. Very fast and satisfying. Night stages may take a while but it beats beating the fucking game in a day.
Just slapped around Dark Moray, simple but fun boss fight. The feeling of seeing another chunk of the world fall back in place is very satisfying. The day and night levels couldn't be any more different, but I feel like that's the thematics they were going for. Showing the duality of day and night. I love moving at godlike speed and then switching over to enjoy the same area under a different perspective and enjoying the cool and breezy atmosphere at night. It gives the game a lot of heart (for lack of a better word) and seeing two halves form to make a whole so they compliment each other is paying off for me so far. I will be leveling up the unleashed gauge some more, so those titans can be handled quickly. The first one in Apotos really slapped my shit around.
I can see how some would call it padding, but I see it more as a way to get a closer inspection to the amount of detail in the levels and appreciate the fine art and music and fun gameplay. I can tell this game is extremely divisive, but even I was surprised at its low Metacritic score. I guess the average person really does hate these night levels?
I friggin' LOVED this game and I've never been big on Sonic to begin with. Wish my PS3 didn't break down since I never got to beat the Eggman level.

It was a different pace, but it was like the classic beat 'em ups of old like Double Dragon. I had a blast with both stage types, though it seemed like there were more night stages than day.
Just did Empire City Night...it was FUCKING NEW YORK! That shit was tough but I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, balancing on the spiked rails. Those titans knocked me off a few times.
People need to stop shilling a game where only a third of it is good. I thought the Werehog stages were shit when I was 12, and they're probably even worse now.
Just wait until you get to the daytime stage. Shit is fucking fun.
Nah man I'm not mad. It was hard but definitely enjoyable. The most platform heavy level yet but once again, the atmosphere really carried it all, going from skyscraper to skyscraper. I bet the day level is hype as shit
> 10 years old
> Still beautiful, especially in motion
Where is my PC version? I want to play it in 60fps.
It is pretty weird that this seems to be the only Sonic game never to be released to pc other than Colors.
Just a reminder that sonic is literally a man hog in that game
Needs more Jun Senoue.

Shamar day and night were fucking HARD. The user who said the difficulty starts ramping up, you weren't kidding. I can definitely feel the end is near...I'm gonna stop. Thanks for the help once again friends, I'll be back soon.
>mfw fire wizards lit my ass on fire
Why the fuck does every poster itt have the same fucking writing style? Sega can't be shilling an old game on Sup Forums. What the fuck are you dipshits playing this atrocity all of a sudden?
I hope Sega re-release this game, Colors and Generations for Xbox One X.
Hopefully better than their SADX and SA2B ports
Best cover
The SA2B port is great. At least it is on PC, I'm not sure about the console versions.
The laziness of their SADX port can be fixed with BetterSADX, though. Not only is it in proper widescreen, it also swaps out all the assets so the game looks like the original Dreamcast version.

It really, really, really, -really- makes me think.
Happy Birthday Sonic Unleashed!
Because Forces ended up being such a baab.
>The laziness of their SADX port can be fixed with BetterSADX,
Referring to the work by Sonic Retro modders is not an excuse for Sega incompetence, user
Imagine if Unleashed had been all day stages.
that or werehog was replaced with Knuckles and instead of that jazz band every time you went into combat, knuckles like music would of played.
>inb4 we would of still hated it xxDDD
everybody knows ITT that it would of went down a fucking storm.
What are your favorite stages from Sonic Unleashed, Colors, Generations or Forces?
