>Wolfenstein 2 came in at 14, and The Evil Within 2 was 13th, in the list of best-selling games in the U.S. last month. Forza Motorsport 7, Gran Turismo Sport, and Grand Theft Auto V all finished higher (NPD does point out that racing-game sales are up 43 percent year-over-year). This comes with some caveats. Bethesda doesn’t report its digital sales to NPD. The only other publisher with a top 20 game that doesn’t report digital sales is Nintendo. Full-game downloads could represent anywhere from 10 percent to 40 percent of the total copies sold. On top of that, Wolfenstein 2 only had two days on the market before the end of NPD’s reporting period.
>The biggest issue here is that every single one of these Bethesda games are well made and the exact kinds of games many people claim they want when the complain about live-services that rely on loot boxes and microtransactions. Prey and Dishonored 2 are some of the best immersive-sim action adventures ever made, and I think Wolfenstein 2 is the most impressive work of political criticism so far in 2017. The Evil Within 2 has even won over a lot of fans. But for some reason, they just aren’t finding blockbuster-sized audiences.
I don't even give a fuck about whatever alleged political ideologies are in the game. What pissed me off was the play time. There's youtube videos showing that the game (while not even speed running) only clocks in at 6 hours, and half of that is cutscenes. I liked TNO and TOB, but this was just fucked.
Daniel Butler

Do we need to have this thread during every hour of every day?

It depends, really. If you blaze through it on the easiest difficulty without doing any side missions or looking for secrets, you can get through it in a few hours.
How many times are you gonna make this thread? Did a communist rape you?

hmmm i wonder why no one cared about this game
Evil Within makes sense, the first game was a trainwreck. no clue why Zenimax/Beth wasted the money on a second one.
Jason Parker
>Wolfenstein 2 is the most impressive work of political criticism so far in 2017. DUDE NAZIS R BAD LOL
such cutting commentary. very brave in this era of the third rei- oh wait, we won that war. decades ago.

I do not give a fuck about the story, but the gameplay design is a mess. They try to have stages with both frantic action and carefull approach/stealth, against enemies that can sense you almost magically in mostly linear corridors you cannot swerve around shooting. It's a worse shooter than it's predecessor.
Still, not a horrible game or anything, but Doom is so much better, it's not even funny (the 2016 Doom, the original doom is obviously better)
Camden Jenkins
>I think Wolfenstein 2 is the most impressive work of political criticism so far in 2017.

Nazis are bad and not good.
Wyatt Taylor
To me it feels like Doom with hitscan weapons. So you can avoid getting damaged by dancing around projectiles, but everything kills you almost immediately. At least on Death Incarnate.
Nolan Green
This game isn't platform exclusive.
Christian Rodriguez

They don't, it's reasonably difficult on Nightmare.

Also, I forgot to add: Aside from playing again in the hardest difficulty and dancing around so you do not get hit cause you die in 3 hits, there is absolutely no other incentive to try again.
Maybe they should bring back the Gpldeneye silly cheats that you unlock by clearing stages fast.
And of course, no multiplayer for the carefuly crafted 5 hour campaign.
Yes, there are no lootboxes and microtransactions, but people still want something more when they pay 60 bucks.

No I have looked at the facts of ideologies and have concluded that nazism is not compatible with most of mankind and is inherently self destructive. As I said, nazism is bad and you should stop shitposting about a video game just because it hurts your nazi fee fees, go daydream about the day of the rope or something, you reverse SJW.
Ayden Myers
>But for some reason, they just aren’t finding blockbuster-sized audiences. maybe it's because the majority of the top spots are multiplayer games with a limited shelf-life, whereas the rest are singleplayer games you could play in 2 years, or hell even decades later and still get more or less the same experience. So why would you buy them at full price when 6 months later you can find em for $20 cheaper and get the exact same experience? this shits kind of obvious
Brandon Watson
Could you repeat that in English?

Allright, this is obviously shopped.

Not him but you're a retard. All he's saying is that "dude nazis are bad lmaoooo" does not warrant the title of "one of the most impressive works of political criticism so far in 2017". You need to work on your reading comprehension? Were you sick on the day of the test perhaps, when's your next test anyways?
Evan Campbell
>I think Wolfenstein 2 is the most impressive work of political criticism so far in 2017
I don't think the game was about political criticism at all. Not about current events at least. People just insist to look at a franchise that was always about some cartoony nazi killing shit through the lenses of the current political climate. When the New Order came out with almost identical writing it didn't get this reaction at all, but because now we live in a time where almost everyone has gone full retard on both sides of the debate, suddenly this game is about current politics.
Call me when they make a nazi general based on donald trump and I'll be right there calling it retarded. After playing through this game though all I'm seeing is just a fucking sequel to the previous one. Nothing more nothing less.
Oliver Sanchez
I was semi-interested in Evil Within 1 but never got around to it, but the sequel looks like watered down open world bunk. Is that really what the fans claimed they wanted?
Christian Wood
Wasn't Wolf2 just being a silly game and running with its ridiculous premise? The fuck is all this other shit people spoutin about coming from?
Parker Murphy
systemshock, bioshock and thief clones. e.g. - prey and D2
Elijah Cooper
>playing games for political insights What the FUCK is wrong with "journalists"
Oliver Cooper
A bit easier than the first maybe, stealth is kinda OP. But they don't exactly shower you in ammo, there were segments where I was totally out and I never felt comfortable with the amount I had on me.
Jonathan Cox
When did having optional stealth and hacking minigames warrant a genre called immersive-sim?
Juan Kelly
They are just proving why letting civilians into politics was a completely retarded idea, and why political activism has to be crushed.
Jordan Jenkins

who will lead us to victory against the nazis? black women, that's who!!
Justin Turner
>immersive sims are bioshock clones Underage spotted
James Ward
I think all the bullshit politics that's going on is making people see it when its not there. Though the marketers were fucking capitalizing it and making it seem like the whole game was going to be DUCK FRUMP BLACK LIVES MATTER #COMMUNISM WINS.
From what I've seen though is this is a mediocre sequel to a game that is there purely to set up the third game. I'll be shocked if the third ones story isn't received better.
Michael Ward
A game where you immerse yourself in the simulated character and its world. Where you, one might say, play out the main character's role in his world, like in some kind of role playing game I suggest.
Camden Phillips
What's wrong with black women ?
Jaxon Cook
Did you see that I mentioned systemshock and thief? Games I've played before you were born
Luke Cox
Oh fugg pls post
Ayden Green
That's what an immersive sim is. It doesn't need to warrant one thing or another, it's just what it is.
Noah Thompson
multiple devs have confirmed it is fairly accurate on sale numbers 2 weeks after launch.

Hope it doesn't stop Bethesda from doing stuff other than Skyrim ports. Despite the flaws of their recent releases at least they weren't shoving online experiences down our throat.

i suspect these are the reasons

It's one step below and RPG. Prey and SS are not RPGs obviously

Prey is a walking sim and nothing is below it

Grayson Campbell

He should, I'm sure that game will be the most impressive work of political criticism so far in 2017.
Zachary Taylor
Then game failed because the far left isn't as popular as they think they are, and the right of and including classical liberal people don't like being called Nazis.
Eli Williams
>release a game as your contribution to American debate >wonder why so few people buy it.
They are asking people to pay for shit that is only relevant to US. You want to make game that handles racism, facism and bigotry that is fine, it has been done before, but you need to make it resound with people outside colleges of US.
Christopher Miller

Probably also doesn't help that a bunch of the major retailers have marked Wolfenstein down for Black Friday. Anyone who wasn't chomping at the bit to buy it at release day is going to either wait for the steam winter sale or get it after Thanksgiving.
That having been said, marking down a game that's been so recently released to such an extent heading into the holiday season is a really bad sign.
Bentley Rogers
The actual action is...okay, definitely not worth being lectured for three hours about how racist I am.
Michael Baker
>If you blaze through it on the easiest difficulty But even these days games can be smashed through on normal/hard. secrets shouldn't be something that someone has to do to pad out gameplay, it should be fun/rewarding to find a secret, not just for the 100%ers
Angel Ross
Wolfenstein II is a mediocre game whose marketers are trying to mask criticism of behind "You hate it because you're a Nazi"
Considering it's shorter and weaker of an entry than its predecessor -even before factoring in the much higher proportion of cutscenes in the game length- it shouldn't cost 60 fucking dollars. And I've killed enough digital Nazis that that isn't really a selling point for me by itself.

The exact same strategy as ghostbuster >"You hate it because you're a Na- sexist!' I am honestly astounded that bullying the customer into buying a mediocre product was tried at all, let alone twice by two different companies. Go back to The New Order, Bethesda. Or better yet, Wolf 3D. the only people that care about your fad bullshit politics don't buy video games.
