Odyssey was better, but this game was great too.
I really liked the multiplayer, wish Odyseey had it too with multiple characters instead of what we got.
But it wasn't.
>implying
Nope, no matter what happens, 3DW will have the shittiest movement options in the series, which means itll be the worst to play.
I can't decide wich one I like more, 3D world and Odyssey are the 2 best mario games though and maybe even the best nintendo games
lol no
Best levels in the series by a fucking long shot, and as we all know that's the single most important factor in a Mario game. It was a real disappointment that Odyssey didn't emulate it more closely in its linear areas.
Most of the crap it gets is because of how sterile the levels look. Nintendo should've at least gussied up the skyboxes or something.
>Super Mario
>some random Unity game
your point?
Sand Kingdom is one of the worst kingdoms to compare 3D World against if you want Odyssey to look good.
I would agree but it’s a different game focusing on completing courses rather than exploring.
>unity game
are you even trying
Not him but visually SM3DW looks generic and boring. It's the New Super Mario bros plastic look.
I don't remember any stage being above average.
I used to classify Sunshine as the best 3D Mario game and 3D World as the worst one. I replayed both over the past 2 weeks and 3D World blew Sunshine out of the fucking water. 3D World is genuinely a great game, but there's something missing that I think the Galaxies have.
They had good art direction.
Lmao it's always the same guy saying the same shit
Odyssey's main game was better, but its' post game was worse and Champion's Road was harder than anythinng Odyssey.
That being said, if Peach's Castle included mario 64 levels (even straight lifts to go with the polygonal mario suit), it would've been a lot better
3D World is great, but yeah they're just so visually uninspired.
The enemy designs, animations, and geometry are all actually really fucking great, maybe even the best of the 3D Marios.
But the environments are just bland, copy-pasted blocks. It worked for 3D Land because of the hardware, but just came off as lazy in World.
Music was underrated as well though, pretty much on par with Galaxy imo

Holy shit that soundtrack is fucking awful.
no it isnt

>t.
Oh yea, and how is that? 3DW has like 450 green stars and stamps you need to explore to get and they are more fun to get than 80% of the moons in Odyssey.
I heard that Mario Odyssey is more like Banjo than Mario 64, turning the stars into collectibles that you get with very little effort. Is that true?
False
Banjo Tooie's Jiggies were all significantly more thought out than the throwaway Moons in Odyssey
but Banjo Kazooie isn't like that at all.
but it is, play it again, the first jigsaw in Banjo Kazooie is literally given to you on top of a small rock you jump on top of before you enter the first world
>the first jigsaw
Case closed then
>walk into a bird and get a moon
>ground pound the ground and get a moon
>throw your hat on a pole and get a moon
>go back to a spot you've already been and get a moon for no reason
>watch a dog take a shit and get a moon
I'd guess about 400-500 moons are like this
It sets the stage for what is quite different from what stars were in Mario 64, they were like a different form of a goal post, now in banjo Kazooie you smash 3 things and get a jiggy, climb some ramp get a jiggy, it's just a collectible really
>turning the stars into collectibles that you get with very little effort. Is that true?
Not really. No. I mean overall the game is still not that hard but it's still not that different from Sunshine or 64 in difficulty.
It's just that there are plenty of easy to grab moons. But that doesn't mean that there aren't tons of moons locked behind genuine challenges.
The game just kind of like to have a certain of percentage of the moons just kind of hidden/casually placed in the corners or behind obstacles all around the levels. That are in no way difficult to get to.
But it's kind of like this. If you circle around a level clockwise, and only clockwise. And never turn the camera. Then a lot of these will look like they were just plainly out in the open. But doing so you would at the same time miss a roughly equal amount of moons that would have also appeared to be seemingly out in the open, had you just circled the stage counter clockwise instead.
Basically they hide moons in such a way to condition players to actually look around.
While they have pipes, doors, or faraway platforms to get to. That poses actual challenges beyond just walking around.
I think so. The levels feel more focused, as opposed to big open world explorathon like B/K
>Stars in Mario aren't out in the open
Did you ever PLAY 64? Half the time I finished the level by stumbling into stars that were intended for later missions because they're just there
A handful of the absolute first jiggies in the game are like that. Treasure Trove Cove and forward all the way to the end of Tooie you could not be more wrong.
fpbp
why they wont port is on switch? i wont buy crappy console with censored games for one game
Some stars were exploration based ones, but the levels changed between each star in a way that the point wasn't to collect the star, but rather to navigate the environments. In Banjo the levels stay the same, the level design is also trash, and the point is just to go there and collect the things, and there's also barely any platforming, and the movement sucks compared to Mario.
This Nintendo bias.
There's only a few 64 stages that come remotely close to touching Kazooie or Tooie's stages
I played Kazooie recently, the levels are laughably small, and they're all designed like shitty rooms, and there's barely any platforming if anything. It's worlds apart from Mario 64 that's for sure. It's your nostalgia glasses, Banjo Kazooie is a fairly overrated game.
>The state of Sup Forums contrarianism
This is widely agreed to be a very good game
it's the worst 3d mario game on consoles
>This entire post
Take your autistic grudge that has somehow managed to persist since the 5th generation and fuck off you actual autistic person
>old grudge
I'm afraid you're stupid and cannot comprehend what was posted, I played it recently and found it to be just shit gameplay wise.
That's not Sunshine or Odyssey
You're right, it isn't Sunshine or Odyssey, it's 3D World
All the 3D mareo games are good games.
>I played Kazooie recently
And apparently stopped at the first world.
Not even that guy but BK is very methodical and clever in its placement of world elements and uses the camera as part of gameplay instead of as an unfortunate necessity that must be wrestled with, as in Mario 64.
But Mario 3D World is in the trifecta of the best 3D Mario's along with 64 and Galaxy 2 user.
Take your third rate collectathons and shove them up your ass.
This. The point of arguing which one is better is moot because it all comes down to personal taste.
You have some fucking awful taste. If there's anything that 3D World does better than Odyssey it's music.
Wrong, I played until the ice world, and of course you don't need to adjust the camera in BK you barely need to fucking platform in that game.
yeah sure.
3D world has one obvious goal per course and other challenges in the course. The courses are linear whereas Odyssey has more spread out courses with objective being to collect moons.
lol no
The absolute state of Odysseyfags
Just admit it's Mario Skyward Sword already
And even that way odyssey is better than 3dw
lmao I disagree about music tastes between two games and I'm called an Odysseyfag.
kill yourself already
You fucking shitting me? Have you even played Odyssey? To beat the game you just have to following the big glowing pillar of light in each level. It's just as linear, if not more linear.
False, you just have to get the minimum amount of moons do get to the next level. Whatever moons you get dont matter.
Yes
Odysee is over rated shit
Srsly it was nothing special
Pretty sure the minimum number of moons is exactly how many there are in the main mission...
this
Theres like 5 original standout tracks in 3D world meanwhile every one of Odyssey's Kingdoms has memorable and distinct music
It also has much more variety.

First post always nails it.
3D World isn't bad. In fact, it's pretty good.
But the lack of movement options compared to every other 3D Mario just puts it below the others for me.
Just hit 250 moons so yeah I have.
I never found that star hidden in the wall until I looked it up online. Shit was hard.
