I still like the touchpad, it's actually my preferred controller for Smash Bros and Mario Kart.

Follow the 1st guide to get it hacked. Follow the second one to get wii u/ds games.
Use nintendont for GameCube. The guide I linked will cover everything and even has a nice little pack of all the files very very useful.

Not the game pad something is interfering or your unit is defective most likely the former. Amazon firestick messes with mine sometimes for example so no telling what it could be.

Be careful stick to 1st party sealed and xenon blade chronicles as well as any game that looks like it was never bought. I never opened half my wii I games cause I just forgot about them now my wii u is hacked so I'm just gonna hold onto all these sealed ones.

It's not defective it just has very low range. I've had it since 2013 it's not defective. And nothing is interfering with it, I've had the same results in like 4 different houses/apartments

Then it is defective cause 2nd wii u I got had similar problems. These things are horrible about problems. 1st one disc drive was a dud out of the box. Raised hell with Nintendo and Amazon get another one. This one the drive works but the pad can't go for shit distance not even out of the room send it back as well. Get a 3rd one that finally wasn't a goddamn dud and I hated it by that point. Left it alone until I hacked it and now love it. Wii u had so many problems both hardware wise and game wise it is no wonder it failed. In 30 years it'll be one of the hardest consoles to keep going due to lack of enthusiasm parts and just being such a cheap piece of fuck on launch. There's also like an extender thing you can get for the pad range never owned one so can't testify to its usefulness.

I honestly liked the Gamepad, I'm glad they took that part of the Wii U and expanded on it with the switch.

It didn't deserve all the hate it got. It had quite a few games. Most of them fell in "good, but not great" installments of franchises, but they weren't bad by any stretch. Off-TV play was a lot more convenient than I first thought. In all honesty, I hate being tied to a couch and with the gamepad I can play while shitposting.

Using the gamepad as the camera in Fatal Frame 5 is still the most genuinely "next-gen" experience I've had this entire gen.

it needs to be a y-cable for the specific HDD you want, so pick that first then get a y-cable for it
