I liked elves because they're cunning and capable. Never was all that interested in stout brutes that just smash shit with axes.

Elves are not the slightly larger eared humans for me. Those are Hylians, from LoZ. Some games like Elder Scrolls do a good job making elves look unique. Even WoW's nightelves are differentiated from looking like humans.
