Trails in the Sky

When the story and characters felt a little generic I feel like the brilliant world building really made everything shine so much.
I hate when in the jrpgs you have a world full of random shit put together without them making any sense. Or when every village in the game is there only to serve as a temporary place to buy new equipment and you never get back there after beating the dungeon next to said city.

It's not only cities, but whole world too. I hope that Trails of the Cold Steel games are also as good as TITS, because I am really excited to explore the country of Erebonia from within. I really liked how relationship between Liberl and Erebonia was shown in the game. Even when you were put in the shoes of character from Liberl, who suffered major losts in the war with Erebonia, game never forced on you that Erebonia was some
>le spoopy evil empire
like a lot of jrpgs would try to do.

And while are we at this, are there any other jrpgs, that has a good world building like Trails in the Sky? The only example that comes to my head is Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII.

I just finished SC myself yesterday and im about to jump in the 3rd game soon. I heard the 3rd game is more like a dungeon crawling game and that Kevin is the MC?

I'm also excited to jump into cold steel and im fully expecting it to be more ''weeb'' from what I have saw from the trailers.

>I'm also excited to jump into cold steel and im fully expecting it to be more ''weeb'' from what I have saw from the trailers.
It's way more weeb but they stepped the world-building into overdrive.
CS1 and CS2 are the weakest games in the entire Trails series but CS3's quickly become a contender for best or second best in the series.

>stepped the world-building into overdrive

Thats what I like to hear.

Most extensive world-building, but the characters are really hit and miss, some are fantastic but some are really, really fucking bad, and they don't fix this until the third game.
Hope you like school settings and teenage melodrama.

>3d portraits
why tho

3rd>SC

There I said it.

I don't have much a problem with generic school setting unless its done very badly. Shame about the characters though since I really liked everyone in TITS. I really can't think of anyone I dislike.

Is liking 3rd over the FC + SC something bad? I adored 3rd way more than I did the latter. Kevin was a fantastic protagonist.
The school setting is actually pretty nice, relatively at least. I'll always prefer the adventuring format than the static school one but the NPC students sometimes have way more story than some of your primary classmates.
>I really can't think of anyone I dislike
Same goes for me, aside from Josette just being useless, I genuinely came to like everybody. Even fucking Agate who I thought was some shitty Not-Cloud who I never think I'd like became a pretty cool guy in the end. The other user is right about one thing though, your classmates are hit or miss and a good chunk of them don't really matter. For good measure, stick with this guy. He's easily the most developed character in CS1 and 2.

CS 1 and 2 has excellent world building as you have come to expect from the series. I'm excited for CS3 and pray falcom learned their lesson in trusting NISA. I will purchase a used copy of CS3 used if NISA is the localization team just to see the butchered translation.

Best tracks in the series desu

It's not that the characters are badly written barring one character I won't name so you can see it yourself, it's just that a third of the party has unlikable personalities and another third of the party is boring. The final third of the party ranges from good to excellent characters.

It's not that only Cold Steel has generic anime tropes.
It's just that Sky are old games and they had tropes of the older anime era.

Lack of bonding events do a lot for character development too.

Laura best girl.

...

Although the characters follow archetypes, the Sky trilogy is so damn long that everyone is given genuine, tangible character development. And that's a rare feat.

Fucking alisa

>Bumps into you in the most obvious way 5 minutes into the game
Ob boy here we go, tsundere time.
>Says oops, my mistake and they have a giggle
Well shit, maybe this wont be so bad
>try to save her and she lands her tits in your face
Well she seems like a reasonab-
>REEEEEEEEEEE

I'm sorry guys, but despite all that, I still like Alisa.

These games suck and I wish people would stop enjoying them.

>Sen 3 almost pulls the same thing with Vander boy and dumb bimbo
>Resolves itself relatively quickly
God, Nu-Class VII is way better it's not even funny.

I like her too user.

...

They didn't spread out the focus too thin. In the end, hardly any of the girls in Class VII in particular matter.

They went through the trouble of giving every single NPC in the game a personality and more than 3 bullet points of backstory and their conversations change with every passing event (even the store vendors).

I platted the CS1 on Vita.
I own CS1 on PC as well. Should I wait for CS2, or get it on Vita?

Also does anyone has Nightmare save file for PC?

I miss chest messages in CS.

PC. Unless you really want to experience fighting McBurn at 3fps as he melts your Vita.
You could probably find a nightmare save on the steam forums.

>3 FPS.
Was it really that bad? Like Finale of CS1 or even worse than that?

>Looks at post.
>Sees spoiler image.
>Name file ruins the spoiler
FUUUCKKKKK

This, you definitely get your money's worth with these games.

Is this on the Switch yet? I'd buy it for PC but want it mobile.

It'd be a pretty ballsy move on Falcom's part, but I'm sure they'd receive a shit ton of backlash from fans considering he's their most popular male character so probably not.

Don't worry, we didn't see a body yet.

even if dead they can just bring him back like that one dude
