I don't know. Neopets exists for as long as I can think back. I recall bugging my mom to please let me play on our dial-up connect that had to be paid for by the minute when I was, like, 8. And I recall my over 4 years old account with tons of achievements get banned over something I felt was really stupid at the time and honestly still think is stupid to this day. Fucking mod on a power trip DEVASTATED ~12 year old me. I don't think I'll ever forget about that and how crushed I was.

What I did was use the title of a song that's preeeetty explicit in a PM to somebody else. I even went so far as to make use of asterisks as to censor myself, that's how much of a swell christian kid I was. Kind of like "hey do you know the f*ckf*ce song from x". I don't know if the mods monitor the PMs or if the person I was talking to reported me or whatever, but it honestly didn't and does not feel like the kind of thing you should get your ages old account instantaneously banned over. I also wrote a ticket, bawling, asking for forgiveness, asking for the ban to be reverted, but no luck.

Like I want to eRP as my shota Faerie Ixi with another cute boy or girl.

It's still updated pretty frequently, obviously nothing major but it still gets shit like new items and clothing.

Most current players barely use it as a pet simulator anymore, it's mostly a business/economy simulator.

My account got killed probably from immense inactivity a while ago so I can't even enjoy it.

I really have to ask how the hell Neopets still exist. I can't imagine anyone still buys Neopets stuff.

Why don't the developers do any advertising again anymore to get new players then? Are they just like milking the remains and not doing anything major with the game?

Who knows, back when Nickelodeon still owned it they never really modernized the game. I guess the developers were told to pump out microtransaction items instead of doing long-term things, like creating a mobile app (Funnily enough they teased an app called Neopets Go long before Pokemon Go was a thing, and it was never heard from again).

The game still uses flash for a shit ton of things (and there's still no mobile app in sight), so it's still stuck in the mid 2000s era.

Now that Jumpstart owns it I'm pretty sure they're just keeping it alive because of the recognizable brand, but nobody expects any major overhaul. It's pretty much running on nostalgia at this point.

I heard about Neopets being a business/economy simulator which sounded kinda interesting, but then whenever I tried to search up how it worked all I found were videos of people constantly refreshing NPC store pages until a certain item popped up, buying it and then putting it in their store for 100x the original price or something. It didn't seem so much a business/economy simulator as much as it was a scalping simulator.

Man, I MISS the wars and plot events. I remember the Lost Desert war, Tyrannia War, Medieval two wars, and the maraqua war. I was an oldtimer, and quit in 09 or so when they pretty much stopped doing war events.

Really loved Mr Insane's games. Gold trophies in Hannah games, NQ1 and 2, the board games were amazing, the Drake in the castle game was fun too. Man, Neopets actually brought me into getting NES games later on because thats what the flash games were, ripoffs of classic NES titles. Good times.

Apparently they started a war event yesterday. No idea if it's good or not, but it's nice they're finally trying to do something with the fucking website.

Maraqua plot will always be the best one. After that it felt like they moved away from the Battledome and tried to force boring puzzles for every plot.

Neoquest II was the shit! I remember when I barely survived the second Terrask fight on Insane (or what was it, InSaNe or something?) when my shields went down. Also, the Four Faerie fight was pretty cool too. God damn that game was fun.

They basically just said they were young and naive and trusted anybody for help, and then when the website got sold they desperately tried to reverse the decision but it was too late, and they were practically ignored while they still worked there. Must have sucked.

Not sure how things are now, but aside from scalping, the main source of money a few years ago was a fictional stock market where you'd buy and sell stock for fictional brands and they'd go up or down in value every day. I played with it for a while to raise money to buy an item that my sister wanted because she was having trouble making money and it was kind of fun.
