How hyped were you before this game was released?
Be honest.
How hyped were you before this game was released?
Be honest.
I didnt play games back then. Now my life is shit lol
it's by bethesda so not at all
I was slightly hyped.
And I enjoyed it well enough. It certainly wasn't better than I expected, but I wasn't underwhelmed. It exactly met expectations.
It's kinda fun. I unironically like settlement building.
50% hyped
Love fallout
Hate Bethesda
Not surprised they fucked up fallout
I'd heard a lot of negative things about it before release, so I knew I was in for a downgrade over the last two games, but my mentality was still that I loved FO3 and NV so much that even a downgrade was going to be fun so I went and bought the season pass too.
Hyped enough to buy the Nuke Edition.
At least the posters were nice.
0.
Was extremely doubtful and scrupulous of anything they showed. The running animation being reused from 3 in the trailer was a pretty good indicator that it was well deserved.
None. I passed on it when the fearliest footage showed the terrible UI, the limited interaction options, the switch to a voiced MC, and the ugly weapon usage.
I'm still astonished to this day with how anyone who played a previous Fallout game could ever get "hyped" over F4, especially when the signs of it be a bad game were blatant and obvious.
I wasn't. I finally pirated it recently, played for a few hours and stopped. I didn't like the voiced protag, premise, setting and Minecraft autism.
half chub. I know these games are shit but I spent so much time playing new vegas that I forgot how bad Bethesda proper was at doing these and I was more or less sold on the settlement building portion. Really, if they had just cut the amount of actual settlements by more than half, made them have more impact independent of factions and weren't so tied to the fucking minutemen, it would have been twice as good
I was really hyped and didnt even end up playing it till a year later. It really wasn't that bad. I think Boston was just a shitty location in general.
Was really hyped. Pirated it on the first day and really enjoyed it. It has some flaws but the survival mode with some mods was fucking awesome.
I was hyped as fuck, but purposely avoided all the gameplay footage/interviews/other media junk between e3 and release. Best way to go into a game you know you want is blind. Still, a new game in my favorite series? SO HYPE.
All in all I enjoy the game. Obviously they dumbed down a ton of the RPG stuff with the voice acting, but in terms of exploring and discovering lore and easter eggs I think the game is solid and significantly better than 3 and NV. Also the gun play is awesome.
>in terms of exploring and discovering lore and easter eggs I think the game is solid
Exploring is one of the worst parts, it was almost all uninteresting buildings with respawing mooks.
I wasn't. I was pretty happy with it when I bought it a year or so later though.
i was un-hyped because of the changes they made
Don't pretend NV exploration is any better, there's dozens of useless empty map markers
Least hyped out of all Bethesda releases since MW, everything they told about the game prior to the release sounded terrible.
I was hype as fuck. And then I was hype as fuck as I played it straight for a month or two. And then I made a simple mod for the game that got really popular.
Now I'm kinda meh about the game because I played it too much. And I stopped supporting my mod which made some people mad, but it still works so fuck it.
really hyped, went for the midnight launch and everything to pick up my collectors edition. Turns out that i fucking hated it and its the worst bethesda game by far!
Not excited, even less so when I found out they'd diverted effort to making the player speak for some reason
Not Obsidian so infinitely less so
It was the first game I had gotten hyped for in years, that trailer genuinely made me feel young again and filled with excitement for the possibilities ahead. Ultimately I was hugely let down, but I still played it for a 100 hours and had a good time exploring the map and some quests weren't all that bad. The main story was absolutely god awful but I feel like the experience wasn't all bad.
I so rarely get this these days, I never look forward to games.
Zero hype
I was just coming off New Vegas so very hyped
It turned out to be mediocre with a half assed attempt at a Bioware dialogue wheel (in the process destroying the thing that made Fallout really interesting: the dialogue) and some weird SimCity thing that they slapped on there for some inexplicable reason topped off with a cherry that gave you a hard set motive and character IN AN RPG
The gun combat was really enjoyable but I just didn't have that much fun with the game overall
HE'S HACKIN AND WHACKIN AND SMACKIN
Not hyped at all. I didn't like FO3, and I knew the voiced protagonist would utterly ruin roleplay and replayability.
Having said that, I picked up 4 a few months ago on the cheap, and after like 70 hours I'm still having a blast. It's barely an rpg - more like an FPS with RPG and sim/Minecraft mechanics. I've only played on Survival mode, but I can definitely say this is my favorite 3D Fallout, since NV's gameplay was so abysmal (like 3) that I couldn't stomach more than a couple playthroughs.
pic unrelated
I was trying to keep myself from getting hype, because I knew my PC won't be able to handle it, but I downloaded anyway after it came out. After playing a couple hours I was no longer feeling sad about not being able to run it properly.
Not much. Skyrim was already a huge disappointment, and knowing that the game will feature a voiced protagonist was already a bad sign.
Despite that they still managed to disappoint me with the almost-complete lack of skill checks and other RPG elements. I’d lie if I said that I didn’t have any fun with it, but it’s the worst 3D Fallout by far, as they took missteps is almost everything besides the gunplay.
I wasn't at all. Not a Fallout fan and upcoming AAA western games typically don't get on my radar anymore due to my evergrowing cynicism. I played it eventually though and enjoyed it up until I got to The Institute.
I'll be honest then. I wasn't. I knew it was going to be a pile of shit the moment they released that "vault management" game before Fallout 4 itself came out.
>It's barely an rpg - more like an FPS with RPG and sim/Minecraft mechanics
I just started replaying the game with a melee build (it’s something I usually never do in Fallout) and by trying to look at the game through that viewpoint, I admit that I’m having some fun with it. It it wasn’t called Fallout, I’d probably enjoyed it more originally, as I wouldn’t have had any expectations about RPG elements then.
I'll admit, when I realized they completely removed speech checks that aren't persuasion, I was really disappointed (and faction relations), but popping bucket of drugs and charging tits-first into a firefight with my meticulously crafted fuckbot Ada is really a treat, no matter how many times I do it.
I'm sure it helps tremendously that I love going full autism on settlements, which survival mode actually gives purpose for.
insanly hyped, This was one of the three games I wanted so badly in 2008. Other two were halo 4 and half life 3
so far I've been gravely disappointed
Have a (you)
Hyped
It was the only game I've ever pre-ordered a physical copy for. My internet was shit at the time so I figured, why not?
>get home at 12:30am after picking it up
>Put in disc
>install finished
>still need to download 18Gb of content on steam
I was so mad. I'll never buy a physical copy of a game ever again. What's the fucking point
0 hyped
I was hyped for a new bethesda fallout installment, aka a slightly worse elder scrolls, and that's exactly what I got.
I was -100% hyped. I could not have wanted this game to come out less.
It was almost exactly as terrible as I imagined.
"Oh that's a thing that exists, isn't it" level of non-hype. FO3 was okay but not great and I had no reason to expect anything better from this.
Mildly interested at best, The location didn't interest me at all.
pic related
After watching the E3 presentation, I knew it would be shit.
I was mildly hyped. I thought to myself pre-launch "well Skyrim was rock bottom, the only way from here is up". Boy did Bethesda prove me wrong.
Hyped enough to pre-load and play it at midnight
I had my expectations low, all they needed to do was Fallout 3: 2, new engine edition.
I preordered game and season pass expecting some decent bethesda DLC.
Fuck these stupid kikes. They completely gutted the game, it might as well not even be an RPG, just another """"""""survival""""""""" game.
How do you fuck up this bad?
I don't regret the $67 I spent but still, fuck them.
hype was at 23.2%. I don't get hyped for games mostly because there are a billion to choose from.
It was shit for a lot of reasons, and mainly for me it was the RP element being destroyed.
nope
i didn't even put in the effort to download it, but a pirate friend of mine dcced it to me while i slept
Well I was hopeful. I was hyped but I was also very skeptical since Skyrim was hardly even playable but I enjoyed their other games so it was just a question whether or not they realized some of the problems of their latest games and whether they had addressed them.
They of course went the opposite direction I wanted.
I actually never played Fallout 4 until all that shit about paid mods came about and the rating tanked.
So I immediately pirated it. I love it. It's a great loot and shoot game. Story sucks, but whatever that's the Bethesda standard.
>""""""""""""people"""""""""""" who like fallout 4
i was hyped for build mode and that was fun for awhile. shame it served zero purpose because any settlement you build never gets attacked. i played the game for 50 hours and only 2 of the places i built got attacked by a whopping 2 super mutants at one place and 3 of the soldier faction people at another. every other place was just npcs walking in circles and getting stuck on beds.
not at all, bethshit fucking sucks
Was megas hyped. then I tried to kill Preston Garvy when I frist met him and it wouldn't let me. Then I tried to kill the mayor and it wouldn't let me.
that's when I was dead inside.
>being hyped for bethesda garbage
I was so hopeful that they would have learned something from the mountains of praise and love heaped on New Vegas.
But they learned nothing.
Why do bad things happen to good franchises?
Expected typical bethesda release.
Got it on release because bored. Dialogue wheel. Uninstalled. Waiting a few more years for player-made mods and bug fixes are all sorted out before I reinstall.
This was my first Fallout game, so I didn't know what to expect. Seemed okay at first, with mechanics a little more shallow than Skyrim, but still okay overall.
Ended up giving New Vegas a shot and then realized exactly how shitty 4 was.
I wasn't hype at all, but I had the smallest hope that Bethesda would make it at least better than 3. They did, but it was still as bland as I thought it would be and bad from a roleplaying standpoint. The shitposting from the Shaun leaks was great though.
Slightly hyped
The game spends too much time in dialog.
Got a reasonably powerful PC but game lags in the city.
this
played
not at all. got tired of bethesda fake hype long ago
The game was awesome. Stop being contrarian faggots
Calm down, Todd.
Sorry Sup Forums I but this hivemind shit is gay
Fallout 4 was a solid 7
Slightly hyped, especially how the power armour was no longer just a piece of clothing, it was actually a giant thing that you had to literally climb into.
That’s basically the only thing they did right.
>le contrarian opinion
I am honest with you, I had 0 hype about that game. I knew they will pull off a "Skyrim with guns" and Skyrim, as everyone knows, has 0 depth in character developing and rpg mechanics.
Not an argument, retard
>lets pretend this game is bad because its bethesda am I cool yet Sup Forums??? please approve of me!!!
pathetic tbqh
Sup Forums are the contrarians, normies love fo4 and don't give a shit about NV
>hey single female lawyer! get up here and help me!
>grab that minigun and power armor!
>wait, are you telling me this shit has been sitting on this roof for 200 years and nobody bothered to use it? why aren't you using it instead of your wooden hand crank rifle??
>lol don't worry about that! just have an epic good time!
Leading up to release I expected it to be just as shit as NV and 3. After playing it I'd probably rank it higher, it's a decent open world FPS.
> Why are you flooding the commonwealth with synths and super mutants?
> You wouldn't understand.
YOU GODDAMN RIGHT ABOUT THAT BETHSOFT.
YOU
GODDAMN
RIGHT.
Not at all. It was clear what the game would be the moment they showed gameplay of it. It still surprises me when I see people call it disappointing because it could not have been more clear what kind of game it would be before it came out.
The game is bad
>It was released after 2 weeks it was announced.
*pats you on the head* good boy have a Sup Forums snack *throws you a Sup Forums snack*
But do even the normies really love it? I thought that it got a somewhat lukewarm reception in the mainstream gaming media and people don’t talk about it nearly as much as they talk about Skyrim. They might not actively shit on it, but it never was really loved either, especially if you compare it to reception Skyrim got.
Keep telling yourself that
Nobody likes the game besides contrarians on Sup Forums
>Male SS was an army vet with combat experience
>Female SS was a lawyer
And yet somehow a Female SS is supposed to have all the knowledge of using guns and power armour that a Male SS has with zero reason as to why.
The forced happy family backstory was stupid to begin with, especially in a game with romance since it makes the happy marriage seem extra shallow given how quickly you can rebound, but for an RPG series that's supposed to be about building your character this was ridiculous.
I will because it's the truth
They definitely like the building stuff, there's plenty of people on youtube still getting good views for their settlement builds.
You know, seeing all these threads on Sup Forums made me wonder: how would Sup Forums handle Fallout 4? Like, if one of you was told you could redo the whole thing, what would you do? Any major improvements? Any thing you would want to add?
Also got the same impression, I guess that it sold well enough for Bethesda to profit on it nicely, but it never became a phenomenon. And we sure as hell aren’t getting any special editions of it 5 years later either, it just came and went.
Your wife was dead for 160 years, it's perfectly ok to move on with another woman.
I'm not giving you free market research, Todd.
ask how hype i was when 3 came out
it was fucking like my dream come true
that first trailier dashed my hype to the ground. it looked like new vegas with slightly improved graphics. was pleasantly suprirsed when shooting wasnt absolute garbage and enjoyed the game. the key here was zero expectations.
>axe the perk levelling system
>add actual skillchecks that allow you to solve quests in different ways
>axe the dialogue wheel and voiced protagonist
>less focus on the weapon modding system, a bigger selection of guns with some degree of moddability but not necessarily as much
>axe the retarded legendary equipment system, replace it with hand-placed unique loot like previous 3D Fallouts had
Not even going to the plot here, but doing all the previous would fix the gameplay at least. Wouldn’t necessarily make the game great, but at least a lot better than it is now.
The spouse was dead for 60 years and to the SS it still feels like mere seconds had passed when they get released, hence why if you go to their pod they're nearly crying.
Yet you can still shack up with a companion while angsting in the main storyline about your son and your dead spouse. It's stupid roleplaying design.
I was skeptical when I saw half assed crafting at E3.
>no voiced protagonist
>make settlements not useless i.e. generate something for me thats more than 50 caps a day
>make settlements not gimped, i want more than 20 people and i want to build skyscrapers if i so please, yeah mods exist but the base game should have this option
>rewrite storyline so im not the leader of 5 different factions simultaneously
>remove and handle 'essential' npc deaths
>fix companions ("why did you pick up that piece of junk" x1000 - and why are they all so unlikeable)
>better weapon effects, no gun in the game save for rifles feels satisfying to shoot
>npcs that aren't bullet sponges but as if bethesda could do that
>fix the lack of optimization in cities
>give obsidian a license
Hadn't played any of the games before it, so I literally didn't care.
when a romance companion asks about your spouse you can say that it doesn't matter, and then proceed to have them follow you taking revenge on your ex-spouse's killer
tfw this game lets you cuck companions
Remove dialogue system obviously
Remove voiced protagonist because it limits how much people write for you to say character mostly
Fire the entire writing staff
Add a two dimensional karma system with good/evil and practical/impractical things so as to allow for more gray area choices
Use the old Fallout 3/NV system of leveling and attributes
Add New Vegas reputation system
Demand more cities be made and have at least on paper what would allow for a working economy and sensible world. Also have things like the fiends with great khans instead of just raiders to give enemies and the world more depth too
Not make the game focus on loot
Change the music and the main DJ
There's mods for everything you listed. You can make thousands of caps every 20 minutes if you set up a ton of water purifiers somewhere like spectacle island all around the perimeter and some shops.
Super fucking hyped and I honestly really enjoyed the game.
Couldn't pay me to replay it though.
>give obsidian a license
There's no mod for that mate.
i thought it looked good and when i got it and played it, i very much enjoyed it since it was my first fallout game i ever played. i have new vegas installed on steam but i haven't touched it yet. what should i be expecting?
