doesn't even look that good.

>those trees

this looks like a painting
this looks like a plastic dollhouse

Both pale in comparison to pic

These devs need to capitalize on their graphics engine/environment assets. They could hire a couple designers and just make walking simulators.

You need to post more then a hazy sunset and an aluminum phallus to prove your point

Is all of this from Hitman?

Holy shit. I would hope that someday, DayZ would look this good, but nope, Hitman.

Then you need to post more than a hazy sunset and "buildings" that look like pieces of plastic to prove yours

what game?

Grass pic is from The Hunter.

This ain't no Hitman, I tell ya.

Hitman (2016)

Crysis would like a word with you

Crysis was incredibly pretty when it came out and remained among the best looking games for years, but please, stop pretending that it’s still there. While the most beautiful moments of it still look good, there are many low-quality meshes etc. that stick out if you look at it closely now. It still holds out a lot better than any 2007 game should, but still.

That's better

>It still holds out a lot better than any 2007 game should
desu 2007 was the best time for graphics and most games from it still hold up

I don't care about hunting but I need this.

I'm still not impressed. Someone impress me.

I’d say that 2007 is the moment when vidya graphics hit the point of diminishing returns. Go any older than that and you get things like blurry textures and low draw distances, but most games from 2007 still look good enough that they don’t really show their age as long as they are played on proper resolution. Of course, when under close scrutiny you can always find stuff that doesn’t look as good as in modern games (eg. the example of Crysis having some relatively lowpoly models such as rocks in the scenery), but it’s not something that sticks out when actually playing the game instead of looking at details. Of course newer games look better on average, but it’s no longer a day-and-night difference.

Hitman has really good lighting especially in the interiors.

Can't say it's all that great texture/model wise though

While Hitman looks mostly good, sometimes it looks surprisingly flat. For example, Marrakesh’s bazaar could really use some more contrast in it.

*blocks your path*

you're saying the opposite of what's true.
there's this timeframe from around 2007-2012ish from which most of the games have aged like horseshit. during said period, developers were only beginning to head toward "realistic graphics", and as they had no idea how "realistic" worked, what was realistic back then is a nauseating pile of shit. some better known examples of this are Dragon Age, Tomb Raider, and Infamous, all of which look fucking horrific today.
prior to that period, artstyles in games tended to be extremely simple, with Source games really being the only games that could be called "realistic" (although that is entirely due to Source engine's ability to make simple things look real) today. as such, most games prior to 2007 actually look better than games from 2008-2012.

Newer games generally are superior in terms of fidelity, like polys/textures and shit but I personally feel they are lacking in the art style department.

Hitman is overhyped, it's a shallow experience that purports ingenious ways to kill yet you're faced with conveniently placed props to kill a guy whos whole existance it living in a permanent loop of taking a piss every 4 minutes before sitting down again before getting up for another piss

The game is beautiful (especially with a good reshade), but unfortunately it’s pretty shit otherwise. Shallow gameplay, buggy as hell AI, jank everywhere, and devs who don’t give a shit.

Sucks because I’m a big fan of hunting games.

Yeah, it's a puzzle game. People shouldn't expect more than that though...
