Darkwood Thread

Please? No one ever talks about it and I would've thought Sup Forums would since its a lot like Stalker.

Experiences?
Tips?
Intersting locations?

Im currently stuck. In Silent Forest but died and lost a lot of ammo in the Old Woods so have to go back and and pray I don't get assblasted by Chompers again. I have no clue what to do. Meet the Musician about Pretty Lady and thats it. Wolf is no help either.

Played it a bit, it's pretty fun. Sadly Sup Forums doesn't seem to like this game since the thread I made died soon too.

I like the atmosphere but just starting out I keep getting frustrated with the controls and stomping over those mushrooms you're supposed to shoot up with.

Bump

RIP thread though

Are parts of the forest randomized on every run?

I think I have this in my library for ages but hardly played it. Guess I'll fix that now, OP.

Saw a video on it and gave it a try and loved it. Question though.
Was the burning of the forest literal?

I played the first night. I really like the premise, but is there anything you're supposed to do while the night passes? Or do you just sit in your base every night twiddling your thumbs until morning?

From what I've seen on streams, you'll miss those quiet nights as you're sitting in a corner, listening to barracades being beaten down.

Monsters begin to show up on Night 2 on, as do the voices.

Some monsters only show up at night. Including HER.

Goody.

Come out
I want to see you again

Yes
In my opinion anyways. The world isn't really ending, it's paranormal activity affecting the woods. When the Tree is burned down, it takes a massive section of the woods with it.

anything I should know before firing it up? no spoilers pls

>HER

n-nani?

>frustrated because I step on and destroy the item(s) I need
So pay attention and stop letting yourself get worked up over your mistake.

Spoopy.

Literally no enemy variety. Fuck off with this shit.

If you want to be immersed, make sure your sound is on. Don't step on mushrooms.

...But there is. Did you not make it very far?

>A lot like STALKER
How exactly?

There literally isn’t. Dogs, savages, chompers, lizards and spiders. That’s it.

>Day 1 look for log piles. They're common and VERY useful. has logs and nails to make barricades and early weapons.
>use workbench and other wardrobes to drop items off safely
>During night, turn on generator (it also helps to not have any lights on so monsters don't get curious. Basically choose your poison)
>When it comes close to night, make it to a hideout, not random houses. Your map will show its location.
>During night, don't move a lot. Monsters come and wonder around outside. If they hear or see movement they will come on. Don't stand close to windows either
>move furniture around to block holes in Hideouts
>After a night ends, time freezes around your hideout and and starts when leaving. Good time to gather things when going out and a Merchant will always be there.
>Exploring is key. Look for resources. NPCs are very important to talk to.
>After a night ends into the next day, time freezes and its good time to prepare when going out.

The wolf is cute. Cute!

who are you quoting?

just repeated a tip twice like a headass.

also one more thing that confused me:
>there isn't really money, just Reputation with merchants/nps like Wolf and that dude who appears in your hideout after night.
>you gain Rep by selling items, doing their quest, and surviving the nights.

no one? Im just organizing tips.

I'm just happy to be playing a survivalist game that isn't constantly ticking down a hydration meter.

This game doesn't get much attention because it isn't very "good" at anything. Having put a lot of hours into it I don't feel like I get much out of it. The combat is pretty poor, weapon durability seems like a way to waste your inventory space with additional weapons rather than something the game really needs, and there's so many materials that my inventory is constantly full. The atmosphere is amazing in the beginning, but quickly becomes mundane as nights pass, even in the more dangerous hideouts.

Yes.

I've never heard of this game before but sounds interesting from what I've seen ITT
I'm out right now so I can't check but I'm guessing its an early access game?

Nope, finally released after a kickstarter from a few years ago. Though they had early-access for it for some time.

it spook
