I find them better thematically because male heroes tend to either be based on, inspired by, or copied from heroes of literature, legend, history, etc and end up being the same characters or archetypes over and over again, while female heroes (save for certain tropes) tend to be built from a more freely creative space rather than basing them on the same things we've always seen.

Of course, this isn't always the case, but there are trends in male character design and writing that end up boring me after they've been done to death.
