They seems to have improved a lot of things too, like now you get weapons and armor for the other class, even if you play solo. So your Ranger can unlock armor and weapons even though you play superior Fencer all the time

Also now, the Ranger, Wing Diver and Fencer have equipement slots, where they can install new armors, powercore and upgrades (Fencer can double dash with the right upgrade for instance)

The Air Raider now have a third weapons slot and can aim air raid with a top down view for precision strikes

Weapons can be upgraded now. If you find a gun, every stats have a star next to them. If during a mission you find a duplicate of same gun with better stats, these stats are automatically upgraded (up to a certain point, then the star is full, meaning you reached the max upgrade for said stat)

So they've both decreased and increased the grind, excellent! Not that the weapon grind is a problem, it's only the armour grind.

The Deroys don't have their fuck you lasers anymore, they have projectile based lasers now

Damage on bugs and frogs looks great too. Also blood decals on everything now

Yeah, the fact that every other class' armor goes up with you main (at a lower rate but still) is a good thing. Also the weapon upgrade on duplicate is a good thing but it will be harder to get the top tier weapons with max stats now, since you need to find that weapon multiple times

I'm just curious if you can still dash-cancel as Fencer since it doesn't really seem intended but actually makes the class way more than fun than it would be otherwise

No too concerned by the upgrade stuff if it's just going to be extra damage/rof/range. Now if there were options to add wierd shit like homing/laser guiding/bouncing/extra projectiles to weapons without then there could be some more fun in it.

So many things in EDF need some tweaking to fix, but I just hope they don't feature creep too much and ruin something.

Well, we don't know for sure but the new upgrade system let's you double dash (maybe more with the top tier upgrades) so we believe they removed the dash cancelling in favor of upgrades so that newbie could enjoy playing Fencer much more

Some weapons can now have range finders and scopes.

I'm hyped as hell and I will buy it on release, as I did for EDF 2025.
I hope that they keep the 2fast4u shield exploit for fencers

What I hope is that each character would get an unique weapon for finishing the story on each difficulty, like with EDF 2017. Finishing the story didn't feel rewarding because there wasn't anything special after it

Pretty much. The reason I'm looking for Sup Forums games is having a quick match or a few with semi-randoms, not joining a community that maybe occasionally plays the game I'm looking for.

I mean for a game with a long campaign like edf I can see it, but even then it would probably be easier to just find some randos and then make a private group chat for handling that

They given Ranger a sprint (thank god) so I imagine they’ve given Fencer a slower, jet-boosted equivalent

Insect armageddon was just bad, although the flying unit is pretty cool

If this is an introduction to it, fine. Like, its a massive construction robot or something. But this design really looks like shit if its the new one taking over.

Remember that the earth eaters where never pictured in any of the ads for EDF4. They never talked about them during the liveshow either so maybe well get suprised with new designs for the higher level versions

Also EDF5 is a reboot of the series. In this universe, earth was never attacked before the Primers attack

I would heavily recommend a controller. You'll be fine without one, but the controller just feels much better.

The whole bundle is essentially circlejerk incarnate already, and when you dump the average Sup Forumsirgin into it the results are even worse.

Actually pretty good. The shooty classes benefit a ton from the pinpoint aiming, though the APC is a bit janky to drive and the already infamous bike is even more uncontrollable.
