>Still got a working Xbox Arcade
Feels good man
I love my modded PS3. Bought one on ebay that was 3.55 for $150. PS1 games look so beautiful on it.
kys
What do you do on yours
I got one last year, played Crash 1 on it a bit and haven't touched it since
Play PS3 games that I never got around to trying out during that generation. I beat my physical collection of PS3 games so now I'm just searching for hidden gems and whatnot. Also gonna put NES,SNES,gameboy, and genesis emulator on it.
Also like I said to play PS1 games. The compatibility is pretty high but PS2 games I just use my FMCB PS2. The compatibility is pretty weird.
Best place to find ps3 games?
Googling them yields scam sites, tpb is fucking empty and ay forums are dead links
lemme guess, it YLOD'd on you.
You could fix it up using online or yt guides only to have it die again several months later.Just get a slim.
Cool thanks
Glad to finally get some use out of that ps3
Lots of hidden gems I'm sure I missed out on
>launch ps3 still works
>2 360s broken
>but launch 360 still works
I swear my luck with launch consoles is high. My super slim ps3 hdmi port broke before my fat ps3s like what the fuck.
unleaded solder
you can thank brainlets and california
Why do you have two other 360s if your launch still works?
>more complex piece of hardware broke sooner
Color me surprised.
Because he's mentally impaired.
The launch 360 is my 3rd 360. Got it because perfect darks framerate sucks on the n64 and it was 50 bucks.
Maybe he got a launch Xbox Core. Didn't those not even come with an HDMI output?
That makes more sense, thank you for explaining.
Just reball it. Dont let em die, they are the best ps3s. Everything after that is for poorfags and children.
is this a fake ass?
Aye its silly I went through 3 360s. But my first one was like a slim I got in 2009 or 10 that keeps freezing after 10 mins. Then I got a used halo 3 one in like 2015 that crapped out 6 months later. Least I got that one for free.
yeah that old shit did the same too me.
New slim, no problem so far...gonna buy another one just in case..
Because you went and bought the launch version of a Playstation console.
The arcades were after the first run which were the major time bombs but still impressive.
Same here, it broke just this week.
I think I got my ps3 when I was 16 I’m 23 now, still works, its like the original slim or whatever
PS1 and PS3 alive and well. My PS2(s) all have their own issues. One has a very loose power connection, so it can shut off without notice. The other is fine but it doesn't read Persona 3. I've tried multiple copies, used and new, and it doesn't want it. I'm forced to use the one with the loose power supply and that's what I played on for my first playthrough. Nerve-wracking as fuck making progress in Tartarus or in the story knowing it can go to shit at any time, or when saving.
>ps3 already backwards compatible with p1 games
PS1 isos
Because newer tech runs hotter
it's not really that complicated.
No it doesn't.
>put power supply made out of metal that gets super fucking hot over critical components
>give it shit ventilation, not even a fan on that side of the console
>and then skimp out on the thermal paste, causing it to dry out after 3 to 4 years
What the fuck was Sony thinking? People like to shit on the 360 power brick but the fat ps3's were pants on head retarded.
What things you downloading? I downloaded some weeb stuff (Vesperia, Xillia 2) but can't think of more that didnt get remastered or anything
Yes it does, especially the FAT ones like in OP's picture.
Of course the fucking treehuggers are also to blame.
>let's use ROHS shitty solder, that will make it easier on the nature when we dump this crap
>order of magnitude more crap breaks and gets dumped
>but hey, at least there's no trace amounts of lead in those mountains of dead PS3 and XBOXES
The shitty solder wouldn't be a problem if:
>the consoles were properly ventilated
>they used half-way decent thermal paste rather than the first thing they found on aliexpress
>didn't make retarded engineering decisions and actually measured stuff with thermals
My fat ps3 is YLOD, and that's with minimal use. My launch 360 is still going fine though, and I've used it way more throughout it's life. I'm gonna attempt to repair the ps3 myself though, I'll be happy if I can just see it working again.
Reballing is a fucking meme, all you're essentially doing is reflowing the chips at the same time due to the heat required, which is what actually causes them to start working again. It is one of the biggest myths perpetrated throughout board repair because of idiots.
If I were you, I'd start thinking about opening the PS3 up and replacing the solder, it's notorious for drying up after 3-4 years, which is partially the reason YLOD happens.
>replacing the solder
Fuck me, I meant thermal paste.
My original ps3 had some weird shit going on when playbacking DVDs. It'd just lose signals. My slims works fine though. PS1 doesn't read disc anymore, had to have it on it's side for years. PS2 still works. PS4 better work since I just bought it.
So I'm looking for a PS3 right now to mod the fuck out of and play me some of those sweet exclusives I never got to enjoy. I take it I should go for the slim model? Also, is it important to look for some specific FW version or can you mod anything?
>Reballing is a fucking meme
No, you're just retard talking out of his ass when you know shit.
If you replace the brittle ROHS solder with proper lead one it won't crack anymore due to the thermal cycling.
This is proven fact and a lasting solution for people that don't want to do reflow every few months.
the PS3 and 360 are both terribly designed pieces of trash.
The PS4 and xbone aren't too amazing either. At least they have actual hardware in them unlike Nintendo consoles
Only certain slim models can be hacked. There's a guide on wololo
PS2 and PS1 were also unreliable as fuck at release though.
>PS3
>games
That may be, but I've still got my original launch PS1 around, complete with the first gen digital-only controllers and memory card. Played Grandia on it a few months ago, everything still works like a charm. If anything, I'd bet that the memcard will probably be the first thing to go, or the gamepads.
Meanwhile, I went through 3 360s and 2 PS3s.
My launch ps1 still works fine though.
Launch ps2 probably would too, were it still living. Fuck methheads
my slim died unexpectedly one day at a college campus. me and my friend wanted to play dot hack versus. it fucking died.
its bullshit man. you know i pay for this shit, what is it going to keep dying over and over? do i have to fucking buy a new ps4, 3ds, and vita soon too? my fucking shitty dreamcast from over a decade ago still works.
fpbp
This is why we need emulation and native PC ports.
my 360 broke after a 3 years and i didn't play much on it, just listened to music.
My PS3 hard drive corrupted and it really bummed me out. Seeing the years of when I downloaded my games and last saved is a blast from the past. I'd be pissed if that happened to any of my PS1 and PS2 memory cards.
Same and it's a slim too.
I still have my PS1 with the I/O port and PS2 PHAT with fliptop. 2011 PS3 with CFW is still kicking.
Not like it was going to work forever.
i swear to god you could hear the fucking plastic expanding when you played for too long
jesus fuck
Maybe don't play so much, nerd.
It will, eventually
It's your fault for not having backups anyway
This.
My PS3 Fat literally died cause the power supply blew up. Fucking Sony I swear to god.
Up until this generation, Sony and Microsoft literally never released a console that wasn't faulty as fuck. Even the original Xbox had its unreliable disk drive and faulty power supply requiring Microsoft to send everybody a power cord with circuit breaker.
Give Nintendo shit for underpowered hardware all you want, but their consoles have always been solid and reliable. I've never even SEEN a broken Nintendo console.
Rohs is the culprit
Laser will eventually shit itself if you keep playing the console
shut the fuck up you stupid bitch
?
Way more fiddly bits of technology in there that can break.
Saturn had possibly the most complicated assortment of chips ever (something like 11 processors) and yet it was a super fucking reliable system.
More like, too much heat for the materials to handle.
Saturn also had a much higher budget and didn't need to go into mass production.
If you're only making one of it you can go all out and make it top spec. If you've got to make thousands then saving even a small amount by perhaps choosing an IC with a 3% fail rate rather than a 1% rate can save a lot of money.
>Saturn also had a much higher budget
Even adjusting for inflation the PS3 would still have been more expensive (Saturn was $399 at release).
>didn't need to go into mass production
I think you're looking at this far too retrospectively. The Saturn wasn't the Neo Geo. Sega did not make it only for hardcore gamers. They actually thought at the time it would beat PS1 and N64.
My Dreamcast stopped reading discs. I was going to buy Legacy of Kain for it, but I’m just not going to bother fixing it
only console to completely fail on me is the original xbox because of that POS time capacitor. my ps1 will stop reading discs from time to time and my dreamcast will ask the time everytime i boot it up but thats pretty much it.
