Press X to reload

>Press X to reload
Why would people think changing the norm was a good idea? Why doesn't everyone just have the same layout -- or at least put X in the same place!

Gamecube order, SNES size. It's that easy.

Because lawsuits

>can't press X and B without also pressing A
>can't press Y and B period
shit

I love gamecube layout, if it had another shoulder button on the left, a decent C-Analog and a bigger d-pad and select it would be perfection.

>not instantly being able to adapt depending on said controller held
I've always heard people make the confusing complaint but have always been fine with it my whole life, even as a kid

>Press X
One of those is not like the others.

It is, though. The Playstation has two letters and two shapes:
>X and O
>Square and Triangle

Nintendo having X and Y be opposite from the actual axes still makes me angry
They got it right on the gamecube, how did they fuck it up after?

The X and Y labels never had anything to do with axes.

I got your controller bro

I never said they did.

Because only three of them have an X button.

I need to save this picture and throw it in my emulator folder.

because Sony didnt want to copy Nintendo
ironically

Xbox has the best setup

button location is still same. Diamond shaped arrangement. Just git gud at button config.

Is there a shake-to-reload shooter game yet? Something like how you jerk off the wiimote to recharge in No More Heroes.

It isn't a problem, what is a problem is when some fucking game uses a QTE that shows different button prompts than the controller you're using
usually Xbox prompts when you're using a Dualshock or Nintendo controller on PC but not always

-Top button should be interact / reload.
-Left button should be melee strike
-Bottom button should be confirm / jump
-Right button should be cancel and used for the game's evasion mechanics

X?

Oh, you mean Cross.

RE Revelations on Switch has a reload mechanic where you smack the bottom of the right Joy-Con, which obscures the IR sensor.

>let's copy Nintendo controllers. But not too much. Jumble colors and button names
>and we will... ...use symbols !

he literally typed a X you dumb shit. how is that not what's on the fucking controller. pronounce it "Cross" if you want it's still literally looks like this -> X

Microsoft should have done 1,2,3,4

Because law

official pronunciations are
>Triangle
>Circle
>Cross
>Square

that doesn't matter lol. he wrote X. he didn't pronounce it.

They should have done Emerald, Ruby, Alexandrite, Topaz, Onyx Trigger, Onyx Button, Pearl Trigger, & Pearl Button

X can be pronounced Cross
Just as O can be pronounced Circle

yet keyboards have no issue

You're retarded. Yes, we call it "X", but it's really cross, like when you cross something out. And some people call it "O" but its circle.

but he didn't pronounce it. he wrote X. so you should have read it as "Cross". do you even actually pronounce it cross? this makes no sense.

that is your fault for playing shitty games with QTE in them

the gamecube controller is literally the best controller ever designed. it finds your hand perfectly

Why would it? It's about a controller using a certain layout with certain buttons being named a certain way. That's trademarkable.

How do Americans & the rest of the world pronounce "Z"?

Because patents are a thing

[ eks ] and [ z ] are different you moron
unless you meant it in context of something like xenophobia, you don't know jack about phonetics

yet fake controllers have no issue

>Multiplat gets ported to PC
>Only has Xbox button displays

Both of you fuck off and learn IPA, then fuck off to a room together you massive fags.

Just don't be such a fucking stoner and remember what controller you're holding in your hand. If you can't remember the positions of 4 letters you're legitimately retarded

Z can be pronounced "Zee" & "Zett" depending on region.

Like how Sony being a Japanese company would refer to "X" as "Cross".

Trademarks expire quicker than copyrights and can be worked around easily. Notice how the old 3rd party Nintendo controllers used a disc DPad instead of the Nintendo design. Since then the trademark has lapsed, so it's a lot easier.

It's not X, it's

The different pronunciation of Z is different than X vs cross. All the buttons are shapes on the playstation controller. X doesn't exist in Japanese. Cross isn't just another word for X in their language

you sure about that?
youtube.com/watch?v=nfxsivcp9_A

that's not a great example, plenty of languages use portmanteaus
