Nintendo Switch firmware version 5.0

Version 5.0 of the Nintendo Switch's firmware will be released on January 12th 2018, and is a massive update.

>Nintendo Switch Online service will begin the day of this update. A 30 day trial will be made available at the launch of this service. Switch Online users will receive Donkey Kong as their first monthly NES title, those who have been playing Switch online before January 1st 2018 will also receive a choice of either Super Mario Bros or The Legend of Zelda as a bonus NES title for free.
>The Nintendo Virtual Console will be launched with this update, and will be a separate store from the Nintendo Eshop. Nes, SNES and GameBoy series games will be made avaliable at launch, following will be N64, MegaDrive/Genesis, Master System, Game Gear and TurboGraphix/PC Engine titles.
>All the video streaming apps that aren't on Switch already will be made available with the 5.0 update. This includes Netflix, YouTube, BBC iPlayer, NowTV, Crunchyroll and more.
>The Nintendo Switch Online app for iOS and Android will support every online Switch game. All existing games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, Rocket League, Doom, Fifa 2018, NBA 2K18 and others will be updated to support the app and it's features.
>Video capture support will be added to more games, and you can now upload to YouTube from your Switch. There are no plans yet for live streaming games.
>Select titles will be getting a new achievement system called stars. Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Skyrim will be the first games to have the stars system added. More games will soon implement this feature.
>Last but not least, Nintendo Zone will be made available for Nintendo Switch. Select locations around the world will have Nintendo Zone spots to connect your Switch to the internet.

Sorry but no nintendo said they will only release VC games that have online enhancements

I know that you just want someone to provide you with information you don't have but looking like an idiot is a dumb way to do it.

Will they finally have themes?

sauce?

Fake.

>following will be N64
fake

Poe's law.

>free NES title for the month
we already know that they're not doing this anymore, so I can automatically ignore the rest of your post.
Do some research next time.

How so? Nintendo have a functioning N64 emulator on Wii and Wii U.

GameCube too if you count OOT Master Quest.
The only reason emulators are so bad is because only Nintendo actually understand the architecture.

>All the video streaming apps that aren't on Switch already will be made available with the 5.0 update. This includes Netflix, YouTube, BBC iPlayer, NowTV, Crunchyroll and more.

Why the fuck would these companies all release their shit together with a firmware update?

Why do people come here and write fake shit?

Are you that desperate for (You)?

Because Nintendo is allowing them all at the same time? Why else would they have held back Netflix?

lol

Source?

>Mario Odyssey has an Achievement system already
>Adding another one
>Outdated news on the Online features.
Monthly games have been replaced by the Classic Game Collection which is like Xbox game pass user.

When was that announced

Never link polygon again

>I pastebin it and link the article so it isn't just pulled out of the ether
Nobody says you have to click that link user, hence the pastebin.

>Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Skyrim will be the first games to have the stars system added.
>First using a , to list the games, but then changing to "and" to list the games
>clearly showing this was all improvised and OP lost track when thinking of games that would use his fake feature

>polygon.com/2017/6/2/15730702/nintendo-switch-virtual-console

this just says the program is different. not that there can't be both

Yeah, but there's no reason for there to be monthly games, classic game collection AND Virtual Console.

>$20 for online services in less than a month
Why is this allowed?

>first monthly NES title
Do your research. They got rid of this, announced it back in May.

So nothing intersting?

Everything sounds reasonable, but we all know its just unconfirmd bullshit

do they give you anything?

Hardware 2.0 when?

I really hope the switch gets hacked early and can run dolphin or nintendo in house gamecube emulator smoothly.

Because it was advertised as such before launch.

Classic Game Collection, previously linked in thread.

But the video recording is up to the developer to implement not Nintendo? Fake as fuck.

I hate how they're fucking around and vague as balls about the virtual console now that it would be on the most desirable Nintendo system yet to have it since it's also a handheld. If it never comes to the Switch, I will legitimately be pissed because I would have actually bought them this time. Wii U is confirmed by Nintendo as a failure and it was obvious the thing was struggling to sell after the first year and yet they still kept adding virtual console games. Let's hope it happens with Switch.

>still no menu music
This bothers me so fucking much.

>yay i get to buy the same ROM they downloaded from the internet over and over and over again on a new piece of plastic! thanks nintendo!

Media player when???

>nintendo doesn't develop games

Sounds believable.

>Nintendo Zone

Yay, now we can bait Nintenbro to bring their Bing Bing machines in public to one of those spots so we can then take pictures of them

Smaller UI elements for docked mode please

>All the video streaming apps
That looked believable right until this point.

why is this unbelievable? they already added hulu and its not like they didnt have these apps on the wii u. the only major one missing is twitch which i wouldnt be surprised if they dont add it till a later date or some shit so they dont want to add it now

Nice try. But Gamecube support was already confirmed and they publicly stated that the Switch won't get a Virtual Console. It'll be something else.

Delete and try again

>Achievements
As much as they mean nothing to me I do feel like the Switch suffers for lacking them. Don't think Nintendo will ever add them though as an OS feature. Sakurai will have his in-game ones still at least.

When the fuck are they putting switch rewards for Nintendo rewards? It’s been a fucking year

Yeah, I am sure Nintendo developed Fifa 18, NBA2K18 and Doom you autistic fuck.

My guess is with the proper online system. They have to do it before March 3 because gold coins will begin expiring.

Shit I’ve alrea had some of my gold expire just waiting

>just now do I remember switch is gonna have paid online
Anyone wanna buy my Switch?

probably music with themes like 3ds has
when they add this, not sure.
i'm impatiently waiting.

>being so poor you cant afford to pay 25$ a year

source: my ass

What's the point of selling it? Every console has paid online now and Nintendo's will be significantly cheaper.

This desu, WiiU menus having each their own theme was a cool touch

Depends what value they give with it. If you're paying for just online then it'll be shit.
They need to offer free games like other companies do, and I'm not talking just VC releases.
They better make it clear if things like Odyssey's leaderboards count as free online or not.

>It’s been a fucking year
No it hasn't.
It's been 10 months

>paying for online

As someone who played Online for a very long time on Wii U (Smash, MK8, Splatoon), you guys are going to enjoy to pay the online and play with all the lags & bugs.

I'm not gonna pay for something that's free on my computer
My computer doesn't

Oh shit, I've been waiting for an update this big since release. It sucks that they're doubling down on the terrible app though.

>Select titles will be getting a new achievement system called stars
Fuck I hope not. Achievements are so fucking pointless and annoying.

Pay for peer 2 peer access... Wait what?

>But Gamecube support was already confirmed

When? GC adapter support isn't a confirmation, just so you know.

>no gamecube vc

Hey it would be nice to introduce Smash Bros Deluxe for E3 2018 right guys?

Nintendo Zone is pointless imo.

i though the 20 dollars was for a years worth

>emulators are bad
whats in like living in 2006?

Because Netflix didn't make an app yet. Why the hell would they only allow Hulu to release theirs?

You mean the time before the only playable n64 emulator didn't give users literal malware?

This sounds real because it didn't mention Gamecube.

>It's okay when Nintendo does it!

They have already confirmed free games will be given.

It's half of what everyone else charges so yeah.

>My computer doesn't
>My computer

Your computer is not a console you carbon based waste of space

>everyone does it
>nintendo does it cheaper

hmmmm

>STILL NO SOURCE

Nah I'm not paying it
Nintendo will be about single player for me for this generation
The only reason their shitty online has been acceptable has been because it was free. Start charging for it and it's literally the worst

But GameCube and Wii emulators are perfectly functional.

And Breath of the Wild runs better on my PC, than it does on the Wii U/Switch.

...

n64 can be emulated multiple ways
through an n64 emulator or even through dolphin gamecube/wii emulator emulating the wii virtual console

emulation works great now

It's far less than half the value considering the free games are roms and the selection of games you can play on it is tiny

As long as you download the FPS++ graphics pack, you can play the game above 30FPS without the game itself speeding up.
youtu.be/rGn0e_gUC24

This is what it looks like when you don't have FPS++ installed
youtu.be/JdVwF10LEc4

So no sauce yet?
If that’s all false, then it’s surprising to me that Nintendo’s been very quiet about their paid online subscription for this long.

BotW is so gorgeous on Cemu
It's a shame Nintendo doesn't start publishing on PC
I'm getting really sick of buying their underpowered junk

>Best way to emulate N64 is through a GameCube/Wii emulator using Nintendo's own emulation
Kinda proving my point aren't you? When going through several levels of emulation has better results than a proper N64 emulator, something is fucked.

I honestly think Nintendo's N64 emulators cheat. Either high level interpreters or flat out native code to simulate the intended results. Only Rare ever figured out how to use microcode, Nintendo didn't even bother with it because it was that convoluted
