Fuck, I've not done this since like 2008. Mind if I beg for some handholding?
>got ROM, works fine on my PC and even on my fucking phone >Supercard is pic related >copy ROM onto card, it's just an nds file so obviously it didn't work >delete ROM, install Super Card V2.71 for Micro SD Pro Version to my computer and update the firmware by replacing my sd_185.bin with micro_eng_185 on the SD card >put ROM into Super Card V2.71. >there's four possible configurations for the ROM position Patch and the Saver patch, two of these result in an unreadable dsi file and the other two result in a file that my DS can read but just turns in to two white screen >all of the ROMs that were already on the DS work fine, so it's not a firmware issue >either I've got the wrong software or I'm fucking it up Any ideas guys? It's clearly just me being retarded. A fucking 8 year old can do this.
stop using an outdated slot-2 card from like 2007 and get a normal slot 1 card like R4 or Acekard
Jayden Johnson
Why would I care that it's outdated? If it works it works.
Isaac Gomez
the point is that it doesn't work, does it?
Zachary Taylor
True, but it used to work and all of the games which are already on the card works. All I want to do at the moment is get a game that's even older than all of the other ones currently on the card to work.
Charles Fisher
>slot 2 card >2008 are you sure about that?
no, it doesn't. They stopped being updated long ago, and newer SDK games likely won't work because of that.
Jose Reed
To tell you the truth, I'm not. The newest game that I've got on it is Yugioh Spirit Caller, which was what? 2007 at the latest?
Tyler Lee
Yeah well nobody here is going to have that obscure knowledge for this shitty card. I'd try GBA-Temp wiki and look at all the NDS flashcards they have documented. Or look at old forum posts from like 10 years ago on how to get games to work on this thing.
Here is the only page on the internet that cares about this thing. Hope it helps.
Oliver White
Shit, that's the page that I already had up.
Andrew Lewis
DSi files cannot be started from Slot 2. Slot 2 compatibility is extremely spotty due to no one developing it forwards. Often the hardware is what causes the compatibility problem itself.
R4 clones are technically crap but as most modern ones are just Acekard clones they're usually good enough. If something, they're so cheap that it doesn't even matter if they break since you can get more for nothing.
Samuel Evans
Yeah the only cards that are still in production are those "R4 Gold+ Deluxe" etc clones. However if I've read correctly they still use the R4 firmware so they should be the same. If you search around you could probably find an AceKard 2.1 or 2i (exact same except 2i also works in the dsi) which was one of the best cards imo.
Grayson Bell
acekard 2i won't work on a fully updated DSi these days
Owen Nelson
I think that I'm out of ideas.
Jordan Jones
This, main reason I had to upgrade from AK2i that still worked years after. >they still use the R4 firmware so they should be the same They don't. They use the name for marketing reasons but they actually work even on the newest systems and R4 never could. Try other roms and see if you can get them to work. Some games can never work with a Slot 2 device and this is the most likely case for whatever you're already trying.
Charles Ross
>Some games can never work with a Slot 2 device and this is the most likely case for whatever you're already trying. I've had what is essentially the sequel to this game working for years now, if that works then I see no reason why this one shouldn't.
Logan Miller
OP if you give up I can link you an R4 for less than 10 bucks.
Kevin Gomez
As tempted as a I am, I'm committed to getting this working. Waste not want not.
Easton Gray
I respect that.
I would do the same.
Isaiah Barnes
Why did slot-2 cards fall out of use? Always felt it such a waste I wasn't using the second slot for anything.
Would've been great to just have a separate card for gameboy vidyas
Justin Martin
Because they're shit. Slow, more expensive to make, and inherently lower compatibility. For GBA games only, the EZ Flash 3-in-1 (and one other cart whose name I can't remember) exists as a companion to a DS flashcard.
Jack Morgan
Yeah man, that would be awesome.
Landon Smith
Because cracking slot 1 proved more reliable and DSi didn't even have it. Slot 1 cards are also far less expensive than 2 though that's most likely due to requirement of fast memory for GBA games. If you were doing this on GBA already you would have a slot 2 card anyways, but it really wasn't the ideal way to play. And since you would already need a slot 1 device to play games from slot 2 anyways, as that's not possible on DS that's not hacked, why not just make one card that does it all? Slot 1 devices designed to load something from slot 2 in DS mode and did literally nothing else were the real waste.
Gavin Clark
Supercards suck. They have really shitty compatability. Where did you buy that card if its 10 years old?
