Does anyone else think that the Xbox Play Anywhere program is the most retarded thing a gaming company has done in decades?
They LITERALLY threw away all their exclusives in order to virtue signal about how "pro-consumer and nice" they are by letting people play the exclusives on PC. Now Xbox technically has zero exclusives while the ps4 is killing it and getting new exclusives constantly.
Microsoft is acting like that "nice guy" who buys girls cars and shit in the hope that they''ll date him, but instead they just get taken advantage of.

1. People who buy Xbox games and PC games don't overlap. PC gamers forget that we're a large minority in the game industry and most normies buy whatever gaming box MSFT/Sony are selling. 2. Play anywhere typically means Windows 10 store exclusive. Microshit is profiting, it is getting you to invest in their platform(s), no matter which system you buy it on.
I'm sure Micro$oft has thought this out very well. In the end, consumers gets more choices of what platform they want to play their game on, and Micro$hit gets your money and your investment into their platform.
Remember, Xbox was literally pitched towards higher up execs as a way to get the Microsoft platform into peoples living rooms. I don't think hardware sales are important, It's Windows users.

xbox one s is pretty cheap new, comes with a 4k blu ray drive (the ps4pro doesn't, you can't watch fucking 4k blu rays on it) and the games are pretty cool, but the fact that I can just play them on pc is the reason I'm not buying a xbone

Your premise if false since console sales are a secondary concern. They don't generate profit as they're generally sold at cost. what microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo actually care about are Licencing fees for games, subscriptions for online services, and revenue from micro transactions.
Microsoft wants you to play their games on their network, that's really what they care about. now they just need to invest more in first party development(which they're doing) but not be surprised when those titles are Xbone/PC as well.

That difference is completely arbitrary and you know it. Windows 10 is their platform. That is the only way to play Play Anywhere titles. Xbox (Windows 10) is their platform. That is the only way to play Play Anywhere titles.
Play Anywhere titles are not multiplatform because "PEECEE" isn't a platform per say. Linux gamers are "PEECEE" gamers but that's a completely different platform that just happens to be extremely similar to Windows. Mac OS gamers are "PEECEE" gamers but that's a completely different platform that just happens to be extremely similar to Linux and Windows.
Breath of the Wild is not a multiplatform game because it's on two seperate pieces of hardware assembled (not manufactured) by Nintendo. It's on the Nintendo platform.

Play Anywhere is the "buy it once, get it on both systems". Putting all their games on PC I believe is a bad move, but since their doing it the play anywhere stuff is nice. Really how many people buy a game twice? They're not losing much but they're gaining a lot of good will and extra sales from people who get pushed over the edge by this.
