Bump for Golden Sun
Tell me, what's so great about this game?
The whole journey and a shit story at first that really, i'm mean it really does, grow on you. Playing 1 and 2 back to back as one whole playthrough is the best experience of the series.
colorful and imaginative sprite visuals that have aged well
Excellent music
Unique worldbuilding based on early modern learning: i.e. flat earth, alchemy, myths like atlantis
why won't they make a real sequel, Sup Forums
For starters, it's among the most impressive if not THE most impressive GBA games that pushed the hardware to the absolute fucking limit. It has spritework and animations that put many SNES games to shame, despite SNES being objectively, factually stronger and more capable than GBA ever was.
The story starts like a generic JRPG and is full of "filler" conversations such as restating things for you (basically insulting your intelligence) but it has that oldschool "going on a big adventure" feel and despite its narrative shortcomings is quite endearing as long as you can look past the flaws.
Also a completely original IP instead of being copypaste of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy like vast majority of JRPGs at the time.
>tfw the Megiddo hits just right
Pretty.
Music.
Fun magic and summoning.
Fairly simple yet thoughtful puzzling.
fun
So how old you all think Piers was?
I think around 400-500 years old.
These two gentleman, plus the class system in the game is very unique
>tfw you can gear yourself to get a 99% chance of meggido
I think it was more i put him around 900 years old
>tfw you don't have to gear yourself to get a 99% chance of meggido yet it's still happens like you did
Because they fucked up with Dark Dawn and it sold like shit, so they think nobody likes the series anymore
>class system
I had so much fun playing with different classes in Lost Age
>tfw realising you can use both +attack djinn in the same party to boost all your attack by 4 stages in 1 turn, then output multiple thousands of damage every turn after that
The better question is why do you retards want constant sequels, especially to a game that had perfectly closed and self contained ending.
Dark Dawn is what happens when you make an unnecessary sequel to a finished story, shitting all over it.
But that shit wasn't finish. How are you just gonna let a dude like scheming dude like Alex get exactly what he wants with no consequences? Not only that seeing a Jrpg work in actual sequels is something that rarely happens and Golden Sun does them in a way that's not overstaying it's welcome unlike the ff13 saga.
Dark Dawn wasn't finished since they intended for it to be a duology, mimicking the GBA originals, but since everyone hated it and since it bombed hilariously hard, they never ended up making a second game so it's permanently stuck being unfinished.
Please stop remembering me of this awesome game.
GS 1 and 2 are one of the fucking best rpgs ever made on this planet, and they had to kill them with a mediocre 3rd chapter.
Music is GOAT, really, aside from SMT IV, FFCC and a few others I can't name manyother rpgs with an OST like this.
Also the class system was really cool, and the battles were incredibly fun and full of cool summons.
Using Djinns required some strategy, where you could choose to use them to summon powerful attacks, but at the cost of lowering your skills, or keep them active.
The world map was splendid, especially in 2, rich of places to discover and explore.
Graphically it was amazing for the GBA and the art style is really nice, sadly it was lost in the transition to the ds...
Plot wise is entertaining and while it has some cliches, there are a lot of things that keep you wondering what will happen next.
>be a retard child
>only assign to adepts the djinn of the same element as them
When I replayed years later, my mind was blown
Can't wait for that 4th one! It's coming soon r-right guys? Right?
Should've bought Dark Dawn when you had the chance, now it's never coming because the studio doesn't even exist anymore. They got absorbed by Nintendo and are now making all those shitty Mario Sports games like Mario Tennis.
you mean you can add djins to others that arent thei type!?
fuck!
wait it can stacks?
The balance age. You can actually give a fuck about using buffs/debuffs in that one and it all feels fair.
Buffs in GS are really damn strong but no one really bothers with them because its too easy.
But I did.
>closed and self-contained ending
What is Anemos?
I wanted to see the moon people Sheba and Ivan came from
>Closed and Self Contained
>We never got to beat up Alex, everything to do with Sheba's backstory besides them heavily implying that she's from Anemos
Reborn is pretty good, makes some boss fights tedious tho
Hahaha, I only did that for most part of the story mode. I'd switch up the djinns with 2 characters at best. Around endgame, everyone's djinns were all messy, but their classes were so OP.
Well, I was a retard child too, but I knew you switch also due to having an elder sibling.
Who replays these games once every year/every other year?
Just another dead series like Advance Wars since it wasn't mainstream profitable to Nintendo and since they don't want to have two different IPs themed around same genre.
They killed all their RPGs for Xenoblade and killed all their tactics games for Fire Emblem and all their racing games for Mario Kart.
Fuck Nintendo.
>Killed for Xenoblade
But GS died like a generation before Xenoblade user.
Xenoblade and Dark Dawn literally came out the same year, 2010. Your memory is seriously fucked or you're a newfag trying too hard to fit in.
Star Magician was tougher than Dullahan
>everyone buys Dark Dawn
>does very well
>so they make a very similar game as the sequel
nty
Honestly it was a lose-lose situation. If it sold well they'd think we want more of the same, and if it bombed (and it did) they'd think (and they did) we simply don't want more Golden Sun at all.
Which is why they killed it and made Xenoblade their main JRPG franchise. It's sad, especially since Xenoblade is frankly rather poor. Combat is poor man's FF12 and the world and story are a VERY poor man's Xenogears dumbed down for widest possible appeal.
Star Magician was pretty easy, all you had to do was ensure he only had Spark Balls.
How do you pronounce "djinn" and "djinni"?
And how did you say that shit as a kid?
jin
jinn and genie
I said it di-gin
Pretty much the same as Jin. Not sure if I should say the "d" sound at the front would be more clearly pronounced.
>Dullahan
fuck
>Doom Dragon used Cruel Ruin
>Agatio used Meteor Blow
