Why do people jerk off obsidian but hate Bethesda? Obsidian is honestly overrated. Bethesda makes a far superior Fallout product in almost every way. Obsidian games are just walking through a desert and visiting empty casinos. Meanwhile Bethesda games involve killing mutants and raiders, exploring bombed out cities and completing engaging, immersive quests and storylines.
So tell me again why people say Obsidian is better? Obsidian can't even get the lore right.
Tyler Green
At least put effort into your bait next time.
Evan Wright
...
James Phillips
Ok, give me one reason obsidian makes a better Fallout.
And no, don't say "muh immersion" or "muh 200 years later" excuses. Give me a legitimate argument.
Jeremiah Gray
What makes player immersion not a viable argument among others?
Jeremiah Turner
>Bethesda makes a far superior Fallout product in almost every way. I don't know which notion is more sad: the fact that someone thinks this constitutes good bait or the fact that somewhere out there might exist a "sentient" being who thinks this is true.
Charles Gonzalez
>give me one reason obsidian makes a better Fallout. Here's one: some people who worked on Fallout NV also worked on the original Fallouts. Obsidian Fallout is canon, Bethesda Fallouts are fanfics.
Nathaniel Roberts
Because some farms don't equal immersion.
Also don't you think, that in a nuclear wasteland, people would have more important things to worry about than gambling, bars and music? Bethesda fallouts actually have a sense of struggle and poverty. New Vegas is just normal life with a fallout paint job.
Connor Lee
They don't actually like Obsidian. They like the fact they worked on the same franchise with the same tools as Bethesda and get to claim victory. As proof all of Obsidians games not named NV sell like shit. The Stick of Truth did all right but that was the IP selling not Obsidian. Everything else sold like a bible at a strip club.
Colton Hill
Here we go again.
Cameron Morris
Being part of the original group of an IP that died is not the ringing endorsement you think it is.
Jayden Sullivan
>Obsidian is honestly overrated. yes >Bethesda makes a far superior Fallout product go fuck yourself xX_BaItMaStEr_Xx
Luis Sullivan
Shit bait. kys OP
Ian Foster
>all of Obsidians games not named NV sell like shit. >he says this while PoE was crowdfunded from zero and sold a million copies >he says this while PoE2 received twice the crowdfunding funds PoE1 did
Jose Morris
Well obsidian doesn't sell me mods and 6 year old games.
Zachary Brooks
So Shady Sands and New Reno are also bad ideas for Fallout universe?
Kayden Perry
>nuclear wasteland Its no longer a nuclear wasteland all around when its been stated that a functioning state thriving and existing. One that can project military assets, economy and industries.
Christopher Allen
>IP that died Baldur's gate died. NWN died. Icewind Dale died Bloodlines died. Arcanum died. PS:T died.
The fact that a franchise died doesn't mean it's bad, you fucking mongoloid. Obsidian employees were part of the dev team that made original Fallouts, Bethesda shitters are fanfic writers who are fucking the reanimated corpse of Fallout in the mouth.
Adrian Fisher

Kayden Diaz
Obsidian has around 170 devs working for them. Only selling a million is the reason the sequel had to be crowdfunded as well. Tyranny not pulling its weight hurt.
If you go with a smaller studio those sales are sustainable. Obsidian has not gone with a smaller studio model.
They need to start the next round of layoffs or hope to get bought.
Blake Hill
Actual RPG elements.
Landon Mitchell
>Bethesda makes a far superior Fallout product in almost every way
Anthony Cox
>nuclear wasteland This is 200 fucking years after the bombs fell where most effect of radiation have worn off by now. People are trying to rebuild and actual towns and cities are turning their small factions into massive empires in whats left of the United States.
John Morgan
In fallout 4 I can create my own NCR, they don't just hand you an army of robots on a platter
Juan Gray
Post yfw many current Obsidian devs have worked on all those series.
NWN was one of the IPs Obsidian killed themselves.
They aren't overrated they are freaking dangerous.
Logan Miller
You have no clue what you're talking about. Obsidian made pure profit from PoE with next to zero investment. PoE saved them from bankruptcy as NV almost fucking ruined the entire studio. PoE2 has already proved to be more profitable than PoE1 as long as the release something. Tyranny was a game developed for Paradox where Obsidian were contracted to get paid regardless of sales, so Obsidian received pure profit from that as well and used the funds to further invest in POE2. Obsidian is doing financially better than it ever has, all it took is for them to start their OWN IP that they can do whatever the fuck they want with.
Michael Barnes
>Arcanum died it still fucking hurts.
it was such a buggy game, but it had so much potential.
Easton Martin
>NWN was one of the IPs Obsidian killed themselves. By making Mask of the Betrayer aka the second best D&D videogame ever made (the first was PS:T, which Obsidian also contributed to). In other words, you are retarded.
Aiden Anderson
Who needs to hand you anything when you can just somehow make settlements, deathbots, fertile soil, specialized power armour parts, weapons, ammunition and water purifiers like magic.
Lincoln Rivera
We just need bethesda to purchase the arcanum ip.
Brandon Long
How is it realistic that entire nations form after only 200 years? It took humanity 8000 years to get to where we are now, there's no way some radiation monkeys can do the same in only 200.
Henry Rogers
>he thinks he's actually in charge of the minutemen
I bet those settlers laugh their asses off at you after you've dealt with those ghouls on the other side of the map for the 5th time.
Wyatt Cooper
People didn't just devolve during the nuclear apocalypse.
Oliver Perez
Humans are going to try to rebuild civilization no matter how bad things get. Getting nearly blown off the planet wont change this.
Landon Morris
When they came from the vault, had used the Geck and had the advantage of hoarded knowledge from the Vaults, BoS, Enclave and the Qu. They had technology pieces to pickup from the highest point of humanity. Are pretending to be dumb or just desperately grasping at shit to try and have point?
Xavier Parker
I get being popular does not equal being good. Having every IP you work on die is not exactly a ringing endorsement either.
Justin Jones
Still unrealistic that they can build entire societies only a couple years after being nuked to shit. East coast is way more realistic
Doesn't mean they'll succeed so quickly.
Anthony Baker
Sup Forums doesn't like Obsidian that much. I'm one of the few people that actually enjoyed Pillars of Eternity. It's usually shat on pretty heavily around here.
Luke Price
It is not even their IP, they were contracted. >I get being popular does not equal being good. In this case it does, MotB is popular exactly because it is so good. it is proven to be a single person or a handful of dedicated shitposters.
Jason Peterson
I enjoyed pillars tho
Jose Baker
considering how much salvageable tech is lying around and with the whole idea of ghouls lasting hundreds of years may help accelerate the rebuilding process, and lets not forget the existence of GECKs. So its very much plausible that rudimentary civilizations can start up. But that theme isn't just in the obsidian fallouts. FO3 and FO4 had the brotherhood with working vertibirds and a fucking giant zepplin.
Leo Diaz
>Bethesda offer immersive quests and storylines >Don't say "muh immersion"
Great thread
Camden Ramirez
fuck off todd.
Jace Morales
>Obsidian is honestly overrated. Unfortunately, Obsidian are some of the best writers in the industry. They can't code for shit. Their products are buggy and clearly unpolished, but writing stands head and shoulders above the others,
>Bethesda makes a far superior Fallout product in almost every way. Fallout 3 was Oblivion with guns. The main story line was a complete joke that got demolished time and again. Bethesda's writing and side quests are full of contradictions and inconsistencies.
