I've died 66 times in this game and I've just beaten the second boss.
Is this normal?
Nioh
Ki pulse, my dude.
Yeah, I'm starting to get the general feel for it.
But still can't do it consistantly.
That's a little high but it's a difficult game if you're used to playing the cinematic shit that passes for games these day.
then get the skill that let you cheat and use ki pulse every time you dash / roll
Yea, I got that.
Certain enemy attacks are still way too fast for a perfect pulse.
That's why I said that I can't do it consistantly.
also dont go runing at enemys every time head shots whit the bow or the musket are extremely overpowered
Did they add M+K support?
yes actually
git gud faggot lol
Any tips on when to perform parries? I haven't found a way to pull them consistently
I probably died 66 times on the second boss alone. I got a lot better once I dropped the "Souls like" mindset. It's not a souls like, it's Ninja Gaiden ish with a loot system.
That's a lot. Better to get good at your fundamentals now, with Ki Pulsing and knowing when to double-dodge or block. Otherwise, the third boss will push your shit in.
how new are you?
Parry right before you get hit. I also think you can only parry humans but someone correct me if I'm wrong.
>miss a Kodama
>some missions lock out certain parts of themselves after progress
I know I can come back ad use a himagori branch but still.
Am I suppose to like finish Way of the Strong before starting the DLC because I keep getting murdered by everything in 2 hits in those campaigns.
Relatively new.
The only games I've played that were similar to Nioh are Furi and Dark Souls.
You're supposed to get full Divine equipment before the DLC.
I did and still do.
Shiet nigga. Who's murdering you so quickly? I haven't even started WotS yet, just got full Divine gear and jumped into the DLC because I wanna fight Hayabusa. There was a difficulty spike but I got used to it after a while.
That’s why I stopped playing the game. It was right after the ninja mansion and I noticed I forgot to find all the Kodamas.
Couldn’t be bothered to run through it again and the game got shelved.
The Bosses. the regular enemies don't kill me that easy but the Bosses kill me in 1-3 hits and I can't damage for shit.
>Enjoying Nioh
>Finish first area
>"Oh hay, a side quest to duel Tachibana"
>Get my shit repeatedly kicked in, not even coming close
>He keeps using moves I don't have access to and summoning that gay lighting doggo
Never lost interest in a game so fast
lifesteal talisman my dude
That's normal. Shigazane I presume? You will get your shit pushed in by him, most definitely. Use weakness and attack power down talismans on him to deal more damage and tank some of his attacks. He is a difficult fight so dying to him is normal. Just keep pushing.
I've finished Dragon of The North but yeah he mouth fucks me hard. Currently stuck on the ninja from the first level of the second DLC.
Just learn to dodge when he unzips his sword. Most everything else you can run away from and then whiff punish.
pleb
The tonfa guy? Fuck him. He's a tough one too but I enjoyed his fight, he's fast and aggressive as fuck compared to every other boss in the game. Haven't faced him in a while so I can't recall his moves, just watch for his grab, dodge it and fuck him while he recovers I think. And stay close to him, going too far results in explosive kunais everywhere.
Just use the rock to cheese him. It blocks the lightning dog, arrow attacks, and dashing slash. Attack when he whiffs and don't be greedy.
I hated that part too until I just let him chase be around that little rock and cheesed it the fuck out
How is it NG-ish?
>blasted through Way of the Wise only dying once
Once you reach that level you're almost unstoppable.
>get my ass whopped by the blue ninja bitch
>realize I have a bunch of magic points available
>get a bunch of debuffs
>hit her with all of them and slap on an earth buff on my weapons
>beat her down with ease because she's almost always out of ki
I usually don't fuck with magic in these games but I like it in this one
In the later difficulties almost every build imaginable pulls at least SOME skills from omyou and ninjutsu for buff/debuff reasons.
I use divination talismans on every run because fuck needing the 4 senses for the minimap on my gear. That's slots I can use for Equipment Drop Rate.
>tfw I had more trouble on hino enma then fucking oprhan of kos
Once you start running instead of dodging he gets way easier, just stay clear of him and when he's low on key hit him until you can grapple him.
>I use divination talismans on every run because fuck needing the 4 senses for the minimap on my gear.
this sounds like a good idea actually, I haven't tried it yet though because my capacity is maxed out and my shortcuts are full
Yep, trust me it is
her attacks have so many weird delays that it fucked me up over and over until I memorized them all. The paralysis didn't help either
same, everything else in Nioh is pisseasy by comparison though apart from optional shit
I literally cannot beat her.
I've died more times to this bitch than any other dark souls/bloodborne boss
The paralysis one shot combo is bullshit
Uh, what are these?
Did I miss something?
you can craft talismans that make you immune to paralysis. also the game gives you some items too.
pleb
money and glory
Is the Kusarigama + Spears a good combo? Or any other good Kusarigama build that uses medium or heavy armor?
Money and souls basically. Money is for upgrading gear. Souls does what you'd expect.
You are using 265 out of your available 500 item spaces. You have 385 glory which you will be able to use after a certain mission in chapter 3.
you get a set with resist paralysis in this level
Oh fuck, I thought that / was a 1
So did I for an embarrassingly long time.
Get Sloth Talisman at Onmyo. There, you've beaten the game.
You know you can just leave the area and change to a mission that isn't a bunch of bullshit.
You've beaten way of the samurai. Sloth lasts like a fifth of a second in way of the nioh.
I thought this game was a Witcher 3 full overhaul mod or reskin when I first saw it
what
The top one is item count. 500 is the limit, the one beneath is Glory.
>People struggle on Hino-Enma
>Beat her second try
Do none of you try lightning or what
They did and it's great
I think I beat her my tenth or so attempt.
Doesn't matter though, still had fun.
>He isn't spear hopping master race
dual swords best
Advice for everyone in this thread: DON'T JUST DODGE, BLOCK YOU RETARDS
if you like getting hit then they are GREAT!
>never spec in toughness
>get your ki bar blasted from every attack
Second boss is easy once you realize that using sprint is far more effective for avoiding her attacks and then running in to get a hit then using dodge rolls
>throw one shiruken at her at the very beginning of the fight
>she's on the fucking floor immediately
but nearly every boss just can't manage when you dodge through them
How do I not forget to use my spirit weapon thing?
Make and run with a build that has living weapon up almost all of the time. So when you're running without it you're constantly thinking about what you need to do to get back into it.
Then when you go back to a normal build every time you hear the chime you'll know you can step on the fucking gas and you'll know exactly what you can get away with once you have it on.
Come back to that mission when you are a higher level. That guy is actually piss easy.
>do side missions
>entire game becomes easy
>hit Way of the Demon
>cause no damage at all
>meanwhile, get face fucked as much as a lowly enemy coughs at me
>severely undergeared and underleveled
>chronically out of money due to soul matching and reforging
I've officially reached the no fun zone. Just fucking kill me.
Pick Suzaku and it will automatically activate whenever you're supposed to die.
Tonfa is fun
>using soul matching and reforging before hitting way of the demon
You fucked up
Sounds to me like you're making a lot of bad decisions with your build and being inefficient with your gear. Way of the Demon should feel easier than Way of the Strong with the exception of red enemies.
I highly recommend looking into what affixes pair well with other affixes and learning what affixes stack and which ones don't. A little knowledge can mean the difference between doing 500 damage a hit to 2500 damage a hit with very little changes.
See
Tell me how many times you die to Muneshiggy
>tfw was prepared and got my soul matching discount to 40% before reaching way of the demon
>Have no problem affording constant soul matching
>level 300 weapon has 90% soul cost reduction on it
Sounds like bad gear choices if you're feeling that underpowered. This did NOT happen to me when I first went into WotD with the prior level's gear.
Only if the spirit guage is full.
Just find them whenever you do the twilight version of the mission.
About halfway through the first run of the game it becomes noticeably less effective on bosses and wears off so quickly that the risk of doing the cast animation is not worth the payoff
It becomes even more useless once you go to higher difficulties
I exclusively just use it on regular enemies I don't feel like dealing with now, like when an onyudo or flying bolt is accompanied by other shit
Weakness Talisman is the most useful onmyo debuff
Any recs for gear and bonuses to look out for? I'm rocking 1kat and 2kat.
>1kat
Hayabusa set
Hayabusa is decent for 1kat because of Dragon Sword Truth, but you need to either use a kusarigama or yasakani magatama to get the full bonus
You'll also die in one hit since it's light armor
>Only if the spirit guage is full.
Kind of redundant to point that out, don't you think?
>hey fight these revenants that have perfect block strings and hit you everytime
>oh you are near death? Now fight Nobunaga and his black weeaboo
Fuck this game
66 times at the 2nd boss is a bit much but generally yes that;s how it will go.
As someone who bought, played through, and beat Nioh on just the PC version this is my assessment of the game. It starts off incredibly bullshit. Ignoring the tutorial section of course forget about that, i'm talking the first actual level. The level itself is not so bad but feels a bit unfair, you have zero skills at this point, as a player who barely have a grasp on mechanics and the playstyle of the game yet, and you have no gear. Even mook enemies can kill you in two hits which is definitely retarded for the first fucking level. You slog through that shit then you fight the first boss. Holy shit what a retarded first boss i have ever seen in my entire life. This fucker is a big guy, in a small room so you have little mobility, and he has two gigantic chain balls that can reach 80% or more of the room at any given time. Considering like i said you have zero skills and little understanding so far this is incredibly bullshit.
2nd level is even worse. You're still learning basic mechanics, at this point you probably don't even have ki pulse dodge which is monumental unless it's the first thing you grabbed but chances are you didn't because the tooltip is broken english. Hino enma is full on retarded, cunt has hyper armor so no hit stuns, she paralyzes on every attack and move which allows her to instantly kill you with any follow up attack. The level is terrible design with a ton of big guys which are very intimidating at that point in the game so exploration is minimal, even if you do explore you only have a limited number of paralyze needles. As a second boss she is complete bullshit.
Game gets much easier and more fun after that. Now you're learning the playstyle of the game, you have decent gear by now, you start getting a few skills, it feels a lot better. It stays good and fun for a while then towards the end of the game it becomes bullshit again and you're expected to cheese.
>have 99 stamina
>some heavy armor is still too heavy to get into the magical B agility range
>reforge for weight reduction
>burn through my resources in minutes
>it never fucking drops
Shit like Kato+Izuna to reduce ki consumption makes C manageable anyway, obviously B will be better still
Really depends on whether you're fighting mainly human or yokai enemies. It's generally a good idea to get as many changeable affixes on your gear as possible, so that if there is an extra slot you can inherit an affix onto it for an extra boosty boost. This usually means finding or making a piece of gear without an inheritable on it.
Secondly you should always put change attribute scaling A+ (before max familiarity it would be A or A-) that matches whatever attribute you have maxed. The damage you do with a katana with A+ strength and 99 strength is identical to the damage you would do with a katana with A+ heart with 99 heart.
Thirdly, A scaling in familiarity is the best in slot for damage of that kind of affix, +15% close combat damage (20% with max familiarity) is the best is slot for that kind of affix.
Fourthly, avoid weapons that have elemental damage on them if possible. You can add elemental damage to it with living weapon or talismans without taking up a slot on your weapon.
Fifthly, certain affixes on your ranged weapon can increase your melee weapon damage. Namely Bonus to Agility with A scaling. This bonus does not stack, so you would want to put this on your ranged weapon and definitely not your melee weapon. Agility bonuses you get from spirit guardians also do not stack with this, so as long as you have Agility A on your ranged weapon you can basically ignore that stat from any other source.
Sixthly and something most people don't know, the "+Luck while using living weapon" you find on some accessories is actually incorrectly displayed. The amount of luck you get from this bonus is actually TEN TIMES larger than what it says. So if it says you get 90, you're actually getting 900, and it makes just about everything drop at max rarity when you spec out for it.
I only just started the game, getting used to combat on the beach and trying weapons out when i get them.
Are tonfas good - they seem fun, same with that axe on a chain.
Remember folks: receive firearms damage reduces almost all RANGED attacks. Get it to 100% and you'll be laughing at a huge deal of shit thrown at you.

Got a source for this?
Not that I don't believe you, there are lots of mistranslations and incorrect tooltips in the game.
>stack elemental damage resistance
>Umi-Bozu's laser hits for 0
I have to disagree about the second level.
The demons are intimidating, but they didn't limit my exploration at all. Especially when 9/10 fights with them were 1v1.
The only thing that felt a little bit unfair about the second boss is the "hyper armor" you're talking about.
Much appreciated, user.
>Navi gets kidnapped within the first 15 minutes
This game is awesome.
