>mfw Mass Effect will never be again
janky game
Than, remake it.
this, the sequels are fucking Gears of War in space.
AH YES THE REAPERS
>completely fresh original IP with a lot of new ideas
Let's not go overboard
What can you tell me about the Reapers?
Just wait for 5-10 years and you'll get to see what new depths the series can reach.
Can you really go any lower at this point?
We thought the same about ME3's ending, didn't we?
2 and 3 were good other than the rushed ending in 3.
The gameplay was good if you like shooters, but story-wise they're both shit.
because the series was deliberately planned as a trilogy, but it was going to take 10-12 years to finish it, and EA said fuck that let's cash in right now.
I genuinely wonder if we'll ever see another Mass Effect game again.
Feels like there are a lot of stories they could still tell set before the Reaper war with any ragtag group of characters on any planet that they're interested in expanding on.
But I guess it'll be a long time before anyone thinks about touching the series again.

>brilliantly written mysterious species went down the shitter by explaining them
Nope, its dead jim
>fresh original IP with a lot of new ideas
Come on now. It wasn't bad for sure, but come on.
I can't believe how many promising and good game series has been killed by publishers, and how they can get away with it. If done right those series would bring both joy and money for consumers and devs/publishers accordingly. Just why this keeps happening.
Greed.
>Reapers
>brilliantly written
Danke. Jetzt weiß ich wenigstens, dass es eine gute Entscheidung war beim englischen Original zu bleiben. Wrex klingt im Grund genommen ziemlich gut, aber die Frauen gehen ja gar nicht.
>Not brilliantly written
They depend on their shareholders so they always have to go for short term profits to stay afloat. At least the devs have a choice whether to sell out.
>shittier version of Gears of war with autistic speech wheels with BAD and GUUD options
lol rpgfags, you gay as hell, your taste in vydia is that of a retarded child
That's why we have new vegas to play instead
Dann spiel als Mann.
That whole conversation is garbage. It explains nothing beyond an apparent need to brag about being higher beings.
Nothing about that is compelling or interesting in the least.
>Why did you kill everyone fifty thousand years ago
>You wouldn't understand
Honestly this one wasn't even ea, as much as it pains me to say. This was bioware through and through.
That's the fucking point of being something out of the usual existence that we know.
this is literally every bioware game ever
they've never had good writing
>le ancient unfathomable evil awakens
"dude you are like SOOOO special"
Want it explained? play ME3.
Why wait for your golden goose to push out an egg once a year when you could gut it for one right now and then go look for another goose?
They don't explain it in ME3 though at least not in a way that makes sense
Reminder that Mass Effect 2 is the best game in the series with the biggest cast of characters, best dlc and most content. Getting rid of "2% better at assualt rifles" level system doesn't make it a bad game.
Nothing would make sense. That's the problem.
>sidequests the game
>best
lol
Ah yes, """reapers"""
I SHOULD GO
>Getting rid of "2% better at assualt rifles" level system doesn't make it a bad game.
No, but being completely irrelevant to the overarching story of the trilogy makes a bad entry in the series.
>replay ME1 to the point my inventory is completely full
>anything I get is immediately turned into omnigel
>worst stuff is at the bottom of the list
>have to scroll all the way down to delete it
>deleting it sends you back to the top of the list
>HURR DURR MUH PLOT
mass effect was the best trilogy ever made, and the pinnacle of gaming. you cannot disprove this.
We're talking about Mass Effect here. You wouldn't play it if you're only priority is good gameplay.
>you cannot disprove this.
ME3 can.
It was more enjoyable than what came after. A story that focused on a big cast of individual characters and getting them ready for a suicide mission against a foe they can fight with guns. The reapers are the worst thing that happened to this series they were better off in the shadows.
you can make a story about foot soldiers that deal directly with the reapers though. mass effect 1 set up a story like that. mass effect 2 just ignored the set up and went in a totally new and irrelevant direction.
ENEMIES EVERYWHERE
>A story that focused on a big cast of individual characters and getting them ready for a suicide mission against a foe they can fight with guns.
That's one of ME2's biggest problems though. How did they know they could defeat the Collectors with ground troops? Just imagine they would've had 2 ships at their base (and we couldn't say otherwise beforehand, because we justs didn't know what would wait for us on the other side of the Omega 4 Relay). Or what would've happened, if they had an entire planet there and not just a normal base?
Was it... dare I say it... thee... Joooz?
I WILL DESTROY YOU!
You go to Horizon and kill a whole bunch of them so that's how they know they can defeat them with ground troops. The whole mission was a gamble but they knew it was a sort of organic alien race they were dealing with.
Our ground troops fought their ground troops, yes, but that doesn't mean we can defeat their race as a whole with a single stealth ship and a handful of soldiers.
Would spectres suits have cameras built in so that they could see how missions went? This would've fixed everything because Sheppards first encounter with sovereign would've been recorded.
That's why it was a suicide mission, they were going to a black hole hell and might not come back. No one in the game knows what to expect from the omega-4 relay.
Ashley does mention them having audio recorders on them. ME1 also had it's fair share of plotholes.
Then why didn't they try to collect data first? Shouldn't we try to increase our chances even if we call it a suicide mission or would that be too reasonable and boring?
>"dude you are like SOOOO special"
Yes and no. Shepard is special in that he's an exceptionally good soldier, but that's it. Being named a Spectre was done purely because it was the Council's only way to deal with Saren, otherwise he wouldn't have gotten it. And even then, he wasn't the first human to be considered for the position.
>Mass Effect 2 is the best game in the series
It can't be best anything with the abortion that is Planet Scanning and that you're forced to do every playthrough.
The Council dismissed the existence of the reapers after we straight up went to war with one of them. I don't think physical evidence was really an issue when everyone was in total and complete denial.
who is Than? why would you trust one guy to remake a game as massive as ME?
The council and rest of the systems alliance straight up refused to believe Sovereign was a Reaper and decided he was some kind of Geth warship and everything they'd heard from him and Shepherd's reports was propaganda or just straight up psychological warfare.
No amount of footage or recordings would change their mind, only another attack.
No, the gameplay was "meh" if you like shooters. ME2 was even worse, with its uninspired teleporting waves into small arenas. They were farther behind 3rd person cover based shooters than SOtL.
ME 2 and 3 just weren't good, period. At best they can lay claim to mediocrity.
Blame Disney for pushing copyright retention to absurd lengths; IP hoarding helps stifle competition.
That looks just like the last level in Halo 3
>Am I cool yet Sup Forums?
Nothing will ever beat the feeling ME1 gave me back in 2007. It defined next gen for me. Everything about it made me feel so hopeful for the future of the industry. I was absolutely floored. ME1 is magical as far as I'm concerned. I'd love to replay it specifically right now during this month if I didn't have a damn backlog.
ME2 really let me down when they got rid of the unique cooling system and replaced it with generic ammo.
>implying me3 wasn't the perfect end to the series
How does one person
acquire such a shit opinion?
Excuse you?
bump
>implying Shit Effect was ever good
