they literally did

Played Nier? If not play it that game involves them a lot more than Automata does

Yeah that could be cool.
All of the incestuous yuri art could become a problem but I think I might be willing to put up with if I have to. I mean that's the price you have to pay for a D&P game so it's fine. I mean it's worth it. To have to tolerate that.
Did they though?

I have. I just like the idea of exploring them more as characters, and naively wanting a story that gives them a chance of a happier ending.

What if Popola survived after Nier, and Devola survived after Automata, and they eventually meet up?

That'd be awkward and depressing on like six different levels.

But I'm intrigued by the premise.

I wouldn't swallow Nier's Popola ever surviving Emil's explosion, but the idea of a not-originally-paired Devola and Popola meeting is very interesting.

It's hard to picture there being any backups left of Popola 1.0 after that explosion. But weirder things have happened in this franchise.

IIRC Nier's D/P were #21 and #22 (I want to say the designation was Observer), so there are at least 10 other pairs.

What would be even more depressing is if two Popola models ended up together. Or two Devola models ended up together.
They needed each others because they were different. Put the same models together and they'd be miserable together and constantly remind each others of how much they miss the other one so much.
Maybe she could have been nearly destroyed but her memories still salvageable. Devola could dig her up, recover what she needs and revive her.
I doubt she could have survived alone without Devola this long anyway.
Interesting.

>Interesting.

Dug it up for autism's sake.

I doubt there are many left active after robo-racism kicked in, but I'd wager that Automata's pair wasn't the last duo left in the resistance if the android higher-ups still wanted a scapegoat for everything that went wrong with Project Gestalt.

I could understand Taro not wanting to reuse too many coincidental cameos in another Nier game if he wants to make something new. But I really like the idea of there being these recurring factors in new games that are familiar but still take on a completely different forms every time we see them.

So we keep seeing characters like Emil, and the twins, or traces of Kaine, but they always look different and carry new meaning.

Cool.
Automato's D&P were different units but still had the same code names?

Yes. Think of it like Devola/Popola models. Each set made was put in charge of shepherding replicant villages until it was time to force-merge the ones that couldn't/wouldn't make nice with the shades. Then the D/P pair closest to the Shadowlord's location had things go tits up for no (known to anybody but the player) reason.

I just want a hint of what the next game will be like. I know it's early, but I keep seeing teases about them already hiring scenario planners.

>Weeb trash
Not even them could redeem the trash gameplay

I liked Drakengard. You know nothing of true trash.

My ideal game would be a prequel game with Emil, Tyrann, and Kaine's grandma Kali. Things proceed normally/as we know them through the materials until about halfway when Accord+multiples show up. Nier 3: Drakengard 4: The Fuckening.

Reminder: 5 was the best.

So, an alternate timeline of what happened, with cameos of every character thrown in, or Accord literally rewriting the whole series?

Go play pubg or ass creed casual

Hisui and Kohaku need their own game.

Filthy secondary

>incestuous yuri art
>problem
What are you, gay?

I feel like we have enough unanswered questions without Accord making an entire alternate universe of new ones.

I just want to know who her/their employer is.

>Tyrann
I can't remember, was Tyrann a higher-up at Project Gestalt before he got blacklisted, or was he with a completely unrelated group?

If Devola and Popola units were assigned regions to supervise, was there a higher authority supervising all the regions?

what is their fucking purpose anyway?
i am route c

I imagine that there were other androids left in charge of Project Gestalt as a whole after the last humans underwent the Gestalt process.

Someone had to go on and start the resistance and blame the twin units for everything.

Why do you want them to suffer op?
If they get their own game all that happens is that they will get shit piled onto them nonstop
Can't you just let them rest in peace?

There's something to be said for that, considering that Taro admitted that he's emotionally invested in Emil, but he feels like more appearances would inevitably mean more troubled times ahead for him.

Automata showed that Taro is capable of happy endings in some regard though.

Play the first game

It would be really nice if they did a remake of Nier to make it less of a fucking eyesore, but knowing how these things go, the code to the game is lost.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet: some important guys at Square Enix were asking Yoko Taro if he could make a game just about the twins a while back, apparently it was a joke but you never know

OK. What is pic related? Is this a Nier android on the moon?

I don't know much about the whole Nier timeline I just have an overview of it.

I often think it would be cool to have a game set in the present days during the WCS pandemic and the war with the legion. Dunno if that would be a good setting for the sort of games that Taro does though. Maybe it's better left as backstory.

Now I was thinking about what could be done with a Popola and Devola game. They were at their jobs for hundreds of years. They could make a game that seamlessly spans hundreds of years. That's potential to do something special with the game. Was the Legion still there for some of the time? Dealing with them could take a long time. There could be actions that have consequences in decades or hundreds of years. And quests that take just as long to complete.

Devola and Popola took care of their "cattle" for such a long time. A lot of stuff must have happened. And they must have felt very alone.

There might be opportunities to mix together different kinds of games. Taro loves doing that. Maybe action/adventure and management/4X/RTS. As opposed to 3D action, platformers and bullet hell.

It's easier said than done though. It's often been tried and it often comes out a game that's no good in anything it tried to do. But they might succeed where others failed.

It's from one of the novellas.

>the WCS pandemic and the war with the legion.
I feel like there are a lot of details in the timeline that are specific enough to sound like potential standalone games. Like the whole backstory of original Kaine's grandmother going to war against the Legion.

Hard to say what he's interested in going back to. Though I guess Drakengard 3 was a prequel in its own weird indirect way, so it's not impossible.

Damn there's a lot more side material than I thought.
That moon thing was a spoiler apparently. How the hell did she not notice that gravity affected other objects differently when they fall with a different acceleration?

>All of the incestuous yuri art could become a problem

Only problem there is that there isn't enough of it.

And yeah, I would totally play a full-length spinoff game starring these two dumb incompetent traitorous sluts. I love them.
