Zelda is pretty much a tech demo. So little content, laughable story, repetitive as fuck. It's as barren as a generic open world can get.

Mario odyssey has many flaws but it's certanly the best candidate.

It's a shame because I really like BoTW, but it is pretty much a tech demo. It feels like they put all their time into the engine and geography and didn't have time to build a finished game. I haven't played Odyssey, so can't compare.

I honestly cannot bring myself to enjoy BoTW. The large empty world that is a pain to slog through, tiny dungeons with no enemies, a pointless durability system that adds nothing to the game beyond constantly forcing you to use a menu. The dungeons especially, how the fuck do you have a Zelda without dungeons?

I get the modern Zelda fans are like the Metroid fans who go hurrr durrr 2d is bad we need muh 3d games, but slogging though a tedious empty overworld isn't really content.

Persona 5, but Zelda is better out of the two and I was 10x more hyped for Mario than I was for Zelda.

Why is there sudden hatred towards Odyssey, it's easily GOTY imo and was the most fun I've had in a video game in a long time.

They are both amazing games, but it has to be Odyssey. BOTW does the open world thing so much better than pretty much any game I've seen (not counting really old CRPG's but that is sort of a different beast altogether). The problem is that it is such a step forward even in spite of having noticeable flaws, that it is a great game but one I imagine will be vastly improved upon in the sequel. Odyssey is nearly a perfect experience and I could see Nintendo adding more content but not nessecarily better content in a sequel. I feel like BOTW will be the more influential game when it is all said and done, but Odyssey is the more polished and complete game. Have to give props to any game that let's me do stuff like this.

I stopped playing after I beat one of the main dungeons in 10 minutes. Wtf man.

There is roughly 1/7 the number of Nintendo Switch consoles out there than PS4. Sony fanbase is cancerous and always has been. For the past three years they haven't had any other console that was stealing the limelight since Microsoft dropped the ball. Now that there is another console out there that is getting better exclusives they have been having a meltdown.

Don't worry. Neither are even close to being eligible for GotY.

Sorry for the sort of incomplete thought, he number of consoles is important because even though about 10-30% of the Nintendo fan base are disgusting man babies, 50-70% of the Sony fan base are the absolute scum of the earth and with their being more PS4's they tend to wreck a lot of conversations. They did it with Cuphead too, though to a lesser extent because that was on PC as well.

BotWfags are incredibly insecure. Why do you think there were so many threads shitting on classic Zelda games after it came out? My theory is that BotW was the first "Zelda game" that a lot of them played, so they've almost formed a cult around defending it and shitting on better games.

Those threads are mostly people shitposting and bickering though. BotW is mostly discussed these days because of its controversial gameplay changes, and over how disappointing it was to some people. Odyssey is basically just a good 3D Mario game that did very little to piss anyone off, so there's less reason to discuss it. As you know, this place thrives on negativity and shitposting, so not seeing too many Odyssey threads shouldn't be that surprising, if anything, it's proof of why it's a much better game than BotW.

Here are my choices for GOTY. Rate them.

I think it's up to personal preference, but BotW clearly left a bigger impact on the people giving out the awards, judging by how many it's received so far.

BOTW is the worst zelda game, Oddessey is an amazing 3D mario game and perhaps the best one.
