How the fuck did they get mario to look excellent on portable mode with 60fps yet have xenoblade running at damn near 360p with dips into 20fps?? What the hell is going on here?

Different teams and different games.

Why is Moonlight Blade playable on a HD 4400 but BDO requires a 650 to even start up?

Different priorities

Time and budget, too. There was a 2-year turnaround from XBX to XBC2, and I bet that Nintendo was floating ideas around for and working on odyssey since 2013

>have xenoblade running at damn near 360p with dips into 20fps
Because the 360p dip happens in very extreme cases and just for a while, while the 20 fps dip looks like a bug.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was obviously rushed to market. I expect patchs all of 2018 alongside the DLCs.

Nintendo is always amazing on their own hardware. Even Wii titles looked pretty good.

XBC2 was rushed. Simple as that. People were doubting a huge RPG would release before 2018 but here we are. How do I know it was rushed? Because there's an inexplicable bug that slows down the game and you can make it faster by reloading the game. Obviously there's a memory problem.

So is Xenoblade 2 actually as bad undocked as people are saying? It's not really make or break for me since I rarely leave my house with my Switch anyway, but I'm curious.

They underpower the game to save battery. For all the complaints about 2 hours battery life for BOTW, that was because it wasn’t underpowered for handheld mode.

Honestly, you won't notice it.

Xenoblade 2 entered development in 2014. I don't think time and budget had anything to do with it, anyone can look at the characters and see that they are significantly more detailed in Xenoblade 2, and there are at any given time 6 of these highly detailed characters on screen, environments in Xenoblade 2 are also much more expansive and detailed and are far more seamless than odyssey.

> You won't notice the difference between 720p and 360p with half the textures missing
Retard

Yes, see, I wanna know if this kinda statement is an exaggeration.

Isn't Xenoblade 2 a gigantic open world RPG? I imagine they had to make compromises because of that. Probably bigger than Super Mario Odyssey.

That didn't stop Breath of the Wild from looking and running great undocked. In fact, didn't Monolith Soft help with BotW?

Once again - no, you won't notice the drop in resolution in portable, no matter what Sup Forums tries to say. Yeah, the resolution drops a bit, but I never think I saw anything that would make me stop and think about the performance. I honestly think the ~360p thing they mentioned was some really extreme case, because the game looks great in portable. Like, seriously, once you see it all move, the world looks great, no shit.

Why exactly cant it run the same undocked? last I checked the dock didnt have any hardware in it?

Lurk more if this is seriously your question

Memory leak bug

>the most popular video game character of all time gets more effort and attention put into the game than some random JRPG
Shocker

Yeah its bad. I took screenshots in docked and looked at them while undocked to compare and it's night and day. The fact that it's not 720p makes it look like dog shit.

Nah fuck off. It's completely noticeable.

Riddle me this, does it still look better than Xenoblade 1 even undocked? If so, I probably won't give a shit if there's a slight drop in visual quality.

Yes, definitely. I mean, it's an expanded version of the XBX engine with higher resolution visuals. Check some videos of someone playing it undocked, the game runs and looks perfectly fine.

Stop shilling for Nintendo, holy shit. If you can't notice how bad the game looks undocked you're fucking lying. It is VERY noticeable when the native resolution of the switch screen is 720p and the game never hits that resolution undocked.

Better yet - here you go, found this right now:

Xenoblade is not "random", maybe to normalfags I guess.

Also, Jrpg is not a genre.

what the fuck

Why? It's not noticeable at all. Only games I ever did notice could've looked a bit better was Doom, since it is blurry, and Rocket League, since it's low resolution and could easily be better. XB2 actually always looked nice.

It looks good docked, but undocked even xenoblade 1 looks better (not the 3ds one). Until you actually hold it in your hand and play it you will not understand how terrible the game looks.

No, what the hell are you talking about? Compare it's resolution to botw and you will see how blurry it is.

nintendo magic

Fair shout. I'll pick it up within the month and check it out myself, then. As long as it looks good docked, I don't particularly care if it looks worse undocked. I'll get to enjoy it regardless.

Is resolution the only thing you care about in how a game looks? If I put in front of you Grandia 2, but in 1080p, and next to it Final Fantasy XV, but in 500p, would you say Grandia 2 was clearly better looking?

>replying

I like Grandia 2's combat, but I could never get into anything else regarding it.

Shut up, Eric.

Dude the game dips down into 360p. Why can't you admit that it looks like shit? Game play is important but if all I see is a blurry mess of pixels how the fuck can I enjoy the game?
