Personally I think the game is mediocre as a Dead Rising game but I still find a lot of fun in killing zombies, Capcom Heroes is such a fun addition but I would've preferred another "Super Ultra Dead Rising"-like mode instead

Based on the OP video, I wouldn't doubt the devs watched this and those members of the team who didn't kill themselves out of embarrassment, actually listened and worked to improve the game.
Those are some good news, although I'm afraid the update+DLC might have come a little too late.

It's a damn shame it turned out like it did. I was really digging the Christmas theme and the return of Frank.
But then they showed the gameplay, the dialogues and the story.
After DR3 I didn't think the franchise could lose more of its identity, but they managed to pull it off; and with the unburied corpses of DR1's setting and Frank no less.
I really liked Dead Rising 3 as a more casual action game, and Dead Rising 4 was a shitfest even compared to DR3. I don't know how they could fuck it up when they already had a good base, there was so little content and it was all so unpolished compared to the previous game, it was an insult.
They kinda have to overhaul the game to make it even half as good as DR3.
Is the game hard again? I don't care about zombie moving when you shoot them on the floor.

I'm glad they are listening to the fans and are making improvements. My only hope is that this series doesn't die, and that if they make a 5th game that they learn from their mistakes. Also if Frank does come back, get the original VA. He IS Frank West.

It was basically Dead Rising: casul edition meets GTA. I still liked it.
But the story was a letdown.

Other than the dead zombies reacting did they fix anything at all? No. Because we all know reworking the entire physics engine to DR1 levels requires an unrealistic amount of work and may not even be possible withoput building the game from the ground up.

Why in the fuck do they keep insisting on making Dead Rising a Saint's Row with zombies? DR1 was never a comedy, just campy. It was actually quite serious.
Separating the districts by long roads full of ojects and weak cars (early on) was a terrible idea but otherwise it was fine.
Too easy in co-op though.
It's okay. It's mostly like 3 with very little bits of OTR. My main gripe with it is that using anything but combo weapons is mostly useless. And since you're showered with combo weapons you'll rarely run out of them.

in dr1 you just ran around, find survivors, and bring them back to your base, however I regret having the wii version so my experience was handicapped.
Number 2 was more of the same but with a larger open area and the big draw for the games was the weapons.
I would more willingly compare it to dynasty warriors, fuckloads of enemies and some simple objective running along side, story is B grade at best with either game because gameplay is the important thing

It was a failure on the XB1, so they ported it to the PS4. I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole, it's a genuine abomination.

The Wii version was a reskin of Resident Evil 4 and so divorced from the rest of the games it might as well have been completely different.
The staying power of DR1 was the accessibility and balance of everything in the mall. Even DR2 threw that out to make combo weapons inherently more appealing.
