Western audiences aren't put off by dating simulation. They love that shit. Dating mechanics have been in major western franchises to some degree. Some more focused on the aspect than others. But Fable, Mass Effect, Witcher, and Dragon Age have all been focused on dating.

Shipping in general is MASSIVE right now. The more romance in a RPG, the more mass appeal it has.
