How did CS become the main competitive FPS? It's movement is so shit compared to pretty much every other FPS since forever and you're forced into super low meme tier sensitivity because of it. No sprint or aim either? HOW?
How did CS become the main competitive FPS...

because there is no council of esports to award the best game a scene
people play what's popular
CS was popular
LAN/Internet cafes
CS was the dudebro's shooter before COD4
>wanting sprint and iron sights
go back to COD u faggot
There was a time when not every shooter tried to be CoD, but you wouldn't remember that
CS is the easiest game to understand and ridiculously hard to master. That essential for good esports.
Personally I think Rainbow Six Siege is a superior game because I like the chaos all the gadgets bring to the table. But good luck trying to explain to an audience all that can go on in a Siege game. Even I don’t know everything there is to know in that game and I have 100+ hours. Whereas in Counter Strike you can learn everything in a weekend, then it all boils down to skill and communication.
because poor eastern euros can run it on a toaster
all my cousins played it on their toasters
Aim down sight takes down the skill ceiling.
Totally agree, vanilla CoD is shit that's why I just played promod and haven't touched a CoD since 4 but that is not why I made this post. CS movement feels worse that pretty much every other FPS yet it's popular, just doesn't make sense to me.
It can run on a potato and has a cult following, that's it really
People are just more attracted to shooters where you do nothing and then the fight is over in a split second (see PUBG) than an actually fun game where you speed around the arena and fights take longer to solve requiring constant track aiming and prediction with projectiles.
Do we have any better FPS to look forward to? one that might make some small LAN tournies or something? I really need a FPS to play competitive again and CS:GO / Overwatch I just cannot play. It's depressing that these 2 are the current FPS being played yet they so shit.
Explain? because that doesn't make sense at all.
>competitive
Unfortunately you need a player base for that.
I'm the wrong dude to ask though, I haven't enjoyed a mp fps since A.V.A
>I really need a FPS to play competitive again and CS:GO / Overwatch I just cannot play
Try something more fast paced like Quake Live/Champions or Dirty Bomb.
I don't think you understand. It is because there's no sprint or iron sights. It's just plain shooting. That is what makes it a proper competitive shooter, it is entirely aim and reaction time with no arbitrary steps to bog it down.
It's popular and extremely simple to play.
No ults, no extra skills, just guns and items (grenades etc)
i hated all the gadgets. maybe a few, maybe small drones and some shit, but all the lethals and majority of the placeables need to go. also, the map is too stiff as it is, if you're gonna do destructible environments, go all out and make damn near everything destructible, and give the defenders breaching tools as well. i think as it stands, operators are too pigeonholed, especially with specific available weapons. bringing back highly customizable loadouts and operators would be awesome instead of trying to go for the boring-as-bricks "hero characters" that has come to plague modern games. the game should be a lot more about breaching and high-intensity action, rappeling through windows, etc. THAT is when i feel like im playing rainbow six, not peeking through an inch-wide hole watching memorized paths. as a whole the maps are built around predetermined angles of fire and gadget placement, it makes the gameplay sterile and boring for me. defenders should even be able to move the objective, like picking up a hostage or maybe a two man bomb carry or something. it would also be interesting to see higher player counts, like a ten on ten or more, with a much larger map, and dynamic map entrances. maybe the defenders actually storm a bank and pick a hostage or two a la payday, and then the attackers decide on a van breach, or maybe fastrope onto the roof, or maybe they show up in police cars and actually have to make an assault to get to the front doors under gunfire, maybe with player snipers on either team in strategic locations, and so on. there's so much cool shit that goes on in real world ops, and to see rainbow six go the way of the boring hero shooter with gadgets as a crutch for dynamic and explosive gameplay is almost heartbreaking. fuck the heartbeat sensors, fuck the rifle shields, fuck the drunk drone, fuck the zappy walls, drop all that bullshit and get back to the core of operating. maybe its not esports streamerbait, but it would be better.
Its very popular in South America too
This. I rather have a more bare bones experience where all operators are equal to each other. It feels like I'm not really doing a siege anymore with all those different gadgets and other crap.
siege is garbage because all the gadgets and meme walls make it a game about knowing mechanics instead of knowing how to aim
Because it was the most casual, whatever is the most mainstream, Pokemon, Star Wars, Harry Potter, is always casual as fuck.
Movement in CSGO is perfect. The reason you complain is because you are bad at the mechanics. No you can't sprint and gun. Needing to stop and take shots or lower accuracy while moving adds a skill ceiling.
Dumb thead
>How did CS become the main competitive FPS?
Lol, no, maybe in the past. Overwatch is the new king.
TF2 > the rest
It's to slow and boring. Needing to stop to take shots takes more skill than someone moving, aiming in and hitting his target? nope.
>different characters, with different playstyles in different games play differently.
Good combination of tactics and raw skill. The short rounds are similar to possessions in athletic sports.
Shit like sprint, prone, and ADS are casual mechanics for roleplaying army men and don't belong in a competitive fps.
>stopping
>not counter-strafing to cancel momentum and have a perfectly accurate shot while still moving
Pharah is just OW's Soldier.
Esier and female, like many things in OW.
>you have to press more buttons so it's a better game
Uh, they're shooter games, shouldn't you focus on, you know, shooting your enemy instead of shooting your legs to move? TF2 gameplay is so archaic.
It's like people forget that this game still exists
If people have forgotten it, it means that it doesnt exist.
Have you tried to run with that outfit? The outfit is heavy, you can run, but not so long. And some weapons make you slower too.
In games like COD, you can sprint all day and never feel tired.
And don't forget: Sprinting in real world would be very loud too. CS plays smater.
The amount of game knowledge you need just to spectate the game let alone play it means it's shit for competition. Also the flow of the rounds is dull with everyone locked into a certain role compared to csgo's fast and loose style.
Fun game but every league game I've watched was boring as fuck.
yeah nah that was halo you dumb cunt
>he was born after Quake and never played it
>MUH SPRINT
you need to be 18+
Its not big because of skill or how it plays. Its big because the game got popular so there were more people to watch it. Although retarded things like recoil system can make for some exciting plays every now and then.
I actually enjoy the esports scene for this game.
Quake with godmode on, because it was too spooky and I didn't know how to aim with the mouse was the first FPS I've ever played.
Since when did we have to be realistic in a game? thought it was about fun lol
OW thread?
>Quake and Unreal Tournament didn't make it
>Tribes managed to snatch defeat from the Jaws of victory in 2011
>TF2 was killed by Valve in order to pocket some change
I got nothing against CS but why did Arena shooters haver to die?
OP right here boi. No local servers, no buy. Cannot play a FPS seriously at 180 ping.
Still, I think that it's the best alternative for a competitive FPS until Bethesda finally fixes Quake's rendering problem or when Epic ends developing UT4. Until then, the only other competitive PC shooters that I can think of is S6 and planet Quake 1
Whatever makes you feel better about your hat simulator.
So, I don't see why you don't like the play style.
Rocket jumps need skill, you can move fast but you will "loose" bullets and HP doing this.
In Overwatch you don't loose bullets, they are infinity and you can just press one bottom to fly.
newer games with newer mechanics and gimmicks killed simpler death match games
Because I'm a single player casual, even if I replay Q1 today on Nightmare, I still have no idea how to rocket jump. I just run around and shoot monsters, the way it was designed to be played (according to Carmack). OW is a casual FPS game and I enjoy it for that aspect.
CSGO movement takes skill you brainlet
Because it's popular and has multiplayer, plain and simple.
