So, is there any ingame reason or explanation as to why the Consumed King's Garden connects to the Untended Graves? Call me a brainlet, but I couldn't figure out why. There's no clear cut like with the Painted World in DaS1 or the Giant Memories in DaS2, just seamless transition. It seems to exist in the far future or maybe the past, but you can still teleport to the rest of the game world without problem. So what was the deal here?

it's a metaphor
the homes of the lords converged into Lothric
this pretty much gives das3 the excuse to mash a bunch of shit together and call it a day
Short answer is time travel.
Long answer is time is distorted in Lordran/Drangleic/Lothric
I'm not really questioning the whole time travel thing, we already did that shit in DaS2. It just confused me that there was no real transition of any kind, you just go through that illusory wall, drop down a ledge and BAM, you're in Untended Graves
Ashen One is actually travelling through space and time in his odyssey. The flame dying is mushing together regions and messing up with time.
Firelink Shrine exists at a different point in time to all the rest of the game. When you warp to and from it, you travel through time.
Proof is if you meet the Shrine Maiden in the past (Untended Graves) before the one in the present (Firelink Shrine), she'll remember you and you'll get unique dialogue.
Oceiros, in his crazy obsession of dragons, was trying to revert the world back to the time of dragons but failed or only for so far before completely losing it. The dark Firelink is both present and past at the same time and the Firelink you start in is an illusion.
>time is distorted
only retards say this, time being distorted is the reason you can summon phantoms
>if you meet the Shrine Maiden in the past (Untended Graves) before the one in the present (Firelink Shrine), she'll remember you and you'll get unique dialogue.
Horseshit!
You get like one new piece of dialogue
Who gives a fuck about exact explanations in From games? I heard the whole "time is messed up" a couple of times and it could pretty much be applied to any and all discrepancies. I just like to think I am traveling backwards in time every single time I sit at a bonfire so enemies around me respawn, since technically I haven't even seen them "yet", and even if it doesn't make any sense "story"wise I don't give a fuck. It's all just a bundled mess from minimal cutscenes and item description that was never intended to be a coherent story. Just focus on the gameplay.
Cemetery of Ash/Untended Graves was originally located right there, after Oceiros' chamber. It is most likely a state secret of the kingdom of Lothric, which is why it's closely guarded and can't be seen from anywhere else in the game. It also seems to have been a project of the Queen of Lothric, since she left special items there to aid the Unkindled One.
When Lothric didn't link the flame, and Gundyr failed to take his place, the flame did fade. But Ludleth offered himself and managed to create a second version of the Firelink Shrine, which seems to be a future projection of the Untended Graves.
And yes, the homes of the Lords converge on Lothric, but it seems the farther they are from Untended Graves/Prince Lothric, the further in the past they are. The only place where you actually see the current state of the world is in the Kiln, Dreg Heap and Ashen Wastes. The Ringed City seems to be suspended in time because of Filianore, too.
Not really, it's actually true.
And who would be responsible for the illusion if that were the case?
>tfw i learned Oceiros was supposed to be holding a real baby in his arms and in his second phase he goes mad and drops it and tramples it to death
He throws it on the ground and it splatters
Ludleth, he alludes to it when you find the Eyes of the First Firekeeper.
> The eyes show a world destitute of fire, a barren plane of endless darkness. A place born of betrayal. So I will'd myself Lord, to link the fire, to paint a new vision. What is thine intent?
> tfw all the crossbreed dragon children like Oceiros' baby, Yorshka and Emerald Herald were failed attempts at creating someone like the Painter Girl
> tfw the painter girl only succeeded because she's part pigmy
FS wanted to use the same area twice and their retarded fanbase just eats it up instead of criticizing their laziness.
>Proof is if you meet the Shrine Maiden in the past (Untended Graves) before the one in the present (Firelink Shrine), she'll remember you and you'll get unique dialogue.
Wew is this actually true? Sounds like stuff "that kid" would say, but then again Souls games usually have a thing or two like that.
Nigga what? Haven't you gone there?
I have, I mean is it true that if you talk to the one in the Untended Graves before talking to the one in Firelink you get new dialogue?
