Can someone explain to me why this game should be an esport? It's a casual shooter that takes barely any individual skill (unlike something like cs), it's incredibly difficult to watch and the only reason it's successful is because it's made by blizzard.
I don't see any reason why this game is even considered as an esport other than blizzard throwing shitload of money on it.

Low skill ceiling
You'll probably get some poorly thought out reply about skill ceilings, but there's a load of videos out there of pros and high ranking players solo carrying against lower levels so I'm not sure where that comes from.

less aiming and positioning skill required, yes, but game sense and logical thinking is assloads more important in overwatch, which is why koreans dominate it
CS:GO is casual as well.
its low skill ceiling is the whole reason it's a succesful esport. just look at regular sports.
you don't have to memorize any complex combos or understand the game's unique physics. everything becomes about positioning and timing. that's what makes a popular sport, it has nothing to do with complex or challenging mechanics.
