>“To be honest with you, when Inafune left it was a difficult atmosphere with the company. It was difficult for somebody to step up and say, ‘I really want to work on Mega Man.’ Inafune-san was definitely a brand leader for the franchise. He helped pave the way for its success, and he had a lot of brilliant ideas. That’s an absolute truth. So when he left, there was a sense of emptiness, and a sense that no one was appropriate to pick up the mantle and pave a new vision for Mega Man.”
Inafune himself killed mega man by walking out on capcom. Mega Man 11 would have come years earlier if he just stayed. Inafune killed the codifier of run and gun games just to replace it with his own.
then why the fuck he started working on a clone megaman games shortly after
this sounds bullshit
Lincoln Mitchell
Megaman 11? I don't care about that. Where the fuck is MML3.
Jacob Miller
>he had a lot of brilliant ideas
Noah Wood
He probably wanted to take all the credit for reviving the Megaman franchise in spirit.
Xavier Williams
Except there were several projects that were all cancelled long before he left.
Tyler Cox
He whole reason he left Capcom was because he felt like he should have gotten more respect than what he was getting. Even though he was being treated equally among his peers, it wasn't enough for him. Basically, he's an asshole.
Brandon Gonzalez
>brilliant ideas. >Inafune
Benjamin Brown
I'd feel sympathy but this is both Capcom and Inafune we're talking about here.
Brandon Roberts
I sincerely think that Mighty No. 9 would have been a good game if Inafune didn't make the devs use Unreal Engine just cause he saw western games using it, because none of them understood how to use the damn thing.
Charles Hill
i cant believe how shitty mm11 looks. why didnt they go full hand drawn 2d? this shit looks like an upscaled ds game.
Robert Morgan
capcom is a bunch of assholes like most big companies. fuck inafune and I dont intend on defending him but it's a thing with japanese companies to use employees/ex-employees as scapegoats for their shortcomings. this statement isnt worth shit.
on the other hand there are faggots like OP who want to suck a company's dick so hard they just parrot bullshit without a second though.
Nathaniel Stewart
Animation is expensive. Like, really expensive. Models are way cheaper to use, and not in a "they're just being cheap" way, but in a "why the fuck would you ever animate this when you could use models" kind of way.
Lincoln Thompson
>JAP GAMES SUCK >OUTSOURCE EVERYTHING >AAA WESTERN SHIT IS SUPERIOR
Those were a weird few years.
William Richardson
I'm excited about Mega Man 11 but I do wonder how big the shit storm would be if they announced they're reviving Mega Man Legends 3 I think the internet would have exploded.
Luke Ward
>Capcom is just starting getting over the damage done by Inafune Why did they allow conman to JUST them so badly?
Jaxson Roberts
>begging this retard
Grayson Hughes
Wht did inafune ruin everything
Noah Hill
Because he knew he could get the funding and help further along Comcept.
Logan Rodriguez
I still await the day they actually revive the project. 2bh I'm not sure if I'd be happy or upset at this point.
Mason Lopez
Normally I'd agree with you but since we're talking about Conman I believe Capcom
Lucas Garcia
How is that Inafune's fault you fucking retard?
Luis Collins
The Legends titles are shit; the usual "we try to migrate a 2D series into 3D with garbage results". You cry for them because you played them when you were a kid.
Christopher Walker
yeah, im well aware. it still looks absolutely terrible. cuphead was basically an indie game, and look how beautiful that is. capcom have so much money, and this game looks like a joke compared to cuphead.
the 2.5d thing can look good, but this doesn't. mm11 looks really really poor.
Samuel Martin
That shit is expensive and in Capcom's case they likely currently lack the talent or the money to pay for it.
Gavin Long
They could have made better models and animations, it looks like a psp game. Hey at least it isn't mn9
Andrew Baker
Who cares about Mega Man I want Mega Man X
Justin Moore
well DUH
He set up Megaman Legends 3 to not be made so that people get pissed off at Capcom, then he left the company to announce the great comeback of the "original" creator of Megaman to cash in on the kickstarter fad.
Daniel Murphy
Why can't both franchises just fuck off? They should just continue story after ZX series.
Matthew James
I'd rather they remaster Mega Man Legends 1-2 before even working on a third game. Those games had interesting settings but the controls were garbage. Atleast update it and see if today's people like it before making Legends 3. It's a pretty niche series. The 10,000 strong for Legends 3 also had plenty of bandwagoners.
Ayden Murphy
amen. Legends 3 now!
Nathan Cox
The creator of X has been trying to lay it to rest since 5, leave it alone already.
Sebastian Nelson
depends on the scale/resolution you want them to draw it at if it was just like nes megaman games, like 9 and 10 were, then the question is pretty valid but you otherwise don't have a single talented dot artist onboard at capcom, and if you did, piling all that work on one single dot artist would be incredibly tasking for him for the crunch time they'd demand of him
you don't think you're paying someone just one lump sum for all his work, do you
that's not how payroll works
Sebastian Hughes
Why is it specifically Inafune that is an asshole for that and not Hideki Kamiya or Shinji Mikami or any of the billion other people that have left Capcom all claiming the company does not respect their employees and treats them like shit?
Oh, right. Because Sup Forums has invented this little fantasy where Inafune is a conniving spawn of satan who single-handedly destroyed an entire genre of games and stole money from orphans and drowns puppies in bathtubs and all that other bullshit you people just pull completely out of your asses.
Isaac Walker
the "creator" is Inafune and nobody cares about this faggot.
Christian Gray
I disagree with you, I think it looks really nice. It doesn't do that thing 2.5d games usually do where everything's at an angle so you can see the floor and stuff, it's just straight up flat like the nes/wii Mega Man games and I like that. Plus the backgrounds are pretty (the shitty looking ones from the Gameinformer interview are unfinished, in fact one of them seen unfinished in Gameinformer is already finished in the trailer.)
You're never going to get Cuphead quality animation out of anything like this. Cuphead was animated using old fashioned cartooning methods which were so expensive the guys making it had to sell their house just to keep making the game. You don't have to like how Mega Man 11 looks, but ever asking for something like Cuphead out of anybody, it isn't going to happen. You'd get something more like Shantae out of an animated 2D Mega Man game if anything.
Some people aren't gonna like it, some people will, some people aren't gonna buy it, some people will, life goes on.
Ryder Myers
This, but only so I can aim and move at the same time in Legends 1. I love the games to death as they are though and am curious as to how its artstyle would translate to more modern approaches.
Henry Sanders
Should've been laid to rest since 5 anyways since the series had little of note to say after the matter. I guess X8 was okay and Command Mission was a surprisingly solid spinoff.
Logan Turner
/thread
Chase Jenkins
Since inti creates went with conman we'll never see any more zx or zero games. That cliffhanger is forever now.
Luke Hernandez
I just want more Soul Sacrifice...
Dylan Evans
yeah, cuphead was asking too much. thats just the first thing that came to mind. i'd settle for something like guilty gear sprites. shantae would be great too. this looks utterly atrocious, though. not even trolling, the first time i saw the mm11 announcement and its accompanying screenshot, i thought it was a joke. it literally looks like a psp fan game or something. incredibly bad.
Tyler Myers
>Megaman X is by far the most interesting series of the MM franchise >It's never getting any more games ever again
Oliver Torres
He brought the idea and concepts of Soul Sacrifice to Sony, which are pretty much the only elements that people remember about it. Beyond the cool setting and world, it's just another MonHun clone.
Nicholas Moore
That's neither here nor there but I don't blame you. With as much suffering as there is to be found in that game, it ought to be the poster child of Vita games.
Jaxon Parker
Don't know about Mikami, but Kamiya is called an asshole all the time, only differance is Kamiya makes good games.
Gavin Cook
The story is over you fucking retard. Leave the series alone.
James Sanders
No retard.
Leo Watson
Eh, MonHun clone's a stretch. It lacks the nuance of chasing monsters through an ecosystem and instead plays out largely like a series of arena boss battles. You're right in that the ideas and concepts are what is chiefly remembered, though.
James Walker
Go see X8's ending you fucking dumbass. They could've ended it right there but Axl's existence tell otherwise.
Leo Green
Fuck you endless rehash swilling nintendo drone.
Sebastian Miller
either way i do like that all the x games are gonna be brought to the main systems, if only for longevity's sake and for the convenience of having all the games on one system, especially the switch
i'd argue that if inti knows anything its how to make a good mega man engine, and they're keeping it up with mighty gunvolt burst i can't speak for zero and ZX, but i can say that an engine emulating them is entirely out of the picture
Tyler Green
>Likes Megaman >Complain about rehashing Lol
Ian Kelly
X's intrigue had long been exhausted before it was abandoned, and I say this as someone whose first 2 Megaman games were X4 and X1.
Ayden Gutierrez
>sonic mania threads were filled with hype and hope >MM11threads are filled with shitpost and arguing about serious worst than classic v. modern v. adventure fans for the sonic series >/mmg/ dies before the announcement It’s not fair Can’t you guys just be happy that after 7 years we’re getting something That this isn’t a cash grab but people, veterans and new are putting all their efforts into a Megaman revival I mean if this succeeds then I know Megaman legends is around the corner Megaman X9 as well Hell maybe we’ll get something like Megaman Universe If this isn’t the Megaman game you’v been wanting or waiting... then ok please wait and hope that this game succeeds so the Megaman game you want becomes a reality
>caring about story Is it too much to ask for more gameplay that good
Chase Hall
Let's compare to the actual PSP Mega Man
They're releasing an X collection and attempting to fully revive mega man according to the gameinformer interview, so an X9 is probably down the pipeline.
Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they just made a new entry for every series, culminating in a new series entirely. Actually I would be a bit surprised that seems like asking a bit much.
Alexander Young
If Capcom, by some miracle of chance, is being sincere with this statement of theirs then Megaman might legitimately be back for good. That's being really optimistic, though.
Nathan Bennett
Just go find the /mmg/ discord link, we have hype, hope, and porn of Ray from Mighty No. 9
Matthew Scott
>Megaman X >most interesting In what way? Gameplay it's the weakest by far (only X is a standout title) and the games' plot is the same rehashed shit over and over again. Rogue robots! An evil virus! Doesn't leave itself for much interesting lore. X8 isn't really that different, just a new face on "Robot who becomes evil for no reason other than... because he's evil" shit.
Joseph Evans
>Animation is expensive. Like, really expensive. NOT MY FUCKING PROBLEM
When will you cucks start demanding for better and stop making excuses for these companies?
Ryan Phillips
Not that user but fair point. It looks like New Super Megaman Bros.
Nathan Martin
There’s an X collection coming out?
Isaiah Jackson
>Gameplay it's the weakest by far What the fuck? Are you telling me wall climbing and dashing are "weaker" than MMC's shitty slide and inability to move up or down without a fucking ladder?
Luis Ortiz
Fuck him. Guy wanted a franchise on day 1.
Blake Gutierrez
There is nothing wrong with the new super mario bro series Hell it has the most experimentation desu >ray I prefer mighty no. 3
Samuel Robinson
well its vague, but they do say all 8 x games are coming to modern consoles they don't say in what form tho
Anthony Cox
Something like that. Capcom's being intentionally vague about it however.
Mason Collins
>the games' plot is the same rehashed shit over and over again. Rogue robots! An evil virus! Doesn't leave itself for much interesting lore Original megaman is "Wily's gonna take over the world!" over and over. Also, MMX has ALOT more lore than any other series. Go read up on the wiki.
Easton Bailey
>4G: As you mentioned before, if Rockman sells because Inafune made it, it won't make it out. But if Rockman sells because it's Rockman, the project will survive.
>KI: That's exactly right.
>For Capcom, it doesn't matter whether a game has the Inafune brand or is made by some anonymous producer. That's ultimately why I made the decision to leave. It's sad to leave, proving that point. It was really sad.
>4G: Was the Inafune brand really treated that way?
>KI: I got the impression that the Inafune brand was the worst-handled within Capcom. Say you had a beautiful younger sister, and of course other people would say, "Your younger sister is pretty. It must be nice to live with her." But then maybe you look at her and think she's rather average? It's kind of like that. (laughs)
>4G: I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I think I get the point. (laughs)
Andrew Roberts
lol
Ayden Hill
>X more lore than battle network
Anthony Cox
Yep, summer of 2018, X collection for all current platforms, being handled by Capcom proper and not the company that handled Legacy Collection.
I'm not making an excuse for the company I'm just flat out telling you why they aren't doing it.
You're right that it isn't your problem, it's their problem and that's why they're not going to do it.
Dylan Lopez
Gameplay-wise, sure. Artstyle-wise, they're mostly indistinguishable from one another with perhaps the exception of U.
Christian Brooks
>only X is a standout title You mean that's the only one you played right? Fuck off you fucking little nigger. X2 was fucking superior.
Ian Gray
Youre a pathetic being
Ryan Morris
Inafune always did a good job at getting games made. He was also the reason why Onimusha got off the ground and was made into a game. Same with Dead Rising. I will give him credit for that. But like Kamiya said he is not a creator.
Jason Perez
i think i would be cool if they tied up all loose ends in MM then just started a new series
Lucas Clark
I replayed X2 relatively recently and I'm not sure if I'd call it outright superior but it's at least 1's equal.
Juan Myers
I’m also talking about how the “new” stlye has been used for the mobile game and the puzzles x dragon cross over Not to mention super mario maker
Caleb Clark
How did Inafune trick people for so long into thinking that he actually created Mega Man?
Luis Green
Mega Man threads on Sup Forums around the time Mega Man 9 all the way until 2012 were fucking legendary. We had Ruby Spears to look forward to, Protomen discussion (whether you like it or not) and the threads were just all around a good time.
Amazing how much can change in just 5 years. I hope someone else remembers the RVA threads.
William Cooper
Yes, Megaman Classic and X have way more lore than a bunch of fucking kids running around with Megaman Pokémans.
Wyatt Jenkins
I didn’t get his analogy can someone explain it to me?
Lincoln Sullivan
>remaster you mean Remake. Legends really can go for a remake.
Brayden Collins
>Megaman Pokemon Die
Nathan Thomas
>spoiler Then you have excellent taste my friend
Alexander Rivera
Yes you fucking are
I am sick of this "it's expensive" bullshit The most it could cost to make a Mega Man game with Cuphead-tier visuals is like 5 million dollars(it wouldn't even have to be 24fps they could do it in twos cheap anime style instead) and at 20-30 bucks a pop digitally they would make that money back 5 times or more since Mega Man is a guaranteed million seller. With a new visual style that looks good it would attract more new fans to the series too. But Capcom is just lazy.
Isaac Barnes
It's what it is, and it rips off a bunch of designs from MM Classic and MM X. Prove me wrong.
Anthony Evans
Says the one that defends jap businessmen in his spare time instead of criticizing them for making games with ps2 graphics in this day and age.
Grayson Perry
i wonder what kamiya meant by that comment, specifically
Chase Rodriguez
Kamiya loves Capcom and openly praises them all the time.
Evan Rodriguez
>We had Ruby Spears to look forward to Until the rest of Sup Forums had a collective fit and threw RVA out.
Dominic Bailey
The sheer age of the games notwithstanding, I wouldn't mind them just being remastered. The artstyle holds up and while the gameplay is simple it's also pretty smoothly handled. All I really want is to be able to move and shoot in Legends 1. Everything else can stay the same for all I care.
Asher Torres
I think he was trying to say that he's the shit but Capcom doesn't treat him like he's the shit. Hence that "Inafune Brand" nonsense.
Dominic Adams
>rips off
More like reinterprets. Honestly, it's pretty cool to see a subseries so far down the line look back on the series' roots like that.
Camden Baker
>all of the megaman fansites are shells of their former selves
it hurts, Sup Forums.
Matthew Reyes
But they don't want to spend that much money and there's nothing you or I can do about it.
Jeremiah Lewis
I've never seen one man with such absolute dreadful taste. Well there was the guy who said pizza is better cold, but you're like, second place to him.
Grayson Ortiz
Kamiya is an ideas guy so to him he is the most important part of the process. Someone like Inafune knows that there a lot of people who go towards making games and that the ideas guy is not nearly as important as the ideas guy thinks he is. Especially a one trick pony ideas guy like Kamiya. Of course he's not going to like him, he's a arrogant snob and when he looks at Inafune he sees a suit.
