You have to farm them. Anangham #2 Dock is a good spot to farm. The crab rock things will always drop a core crystal, if you don't get a crab rock dude when you scavenge you can just run away from the area and try again. Normal cylinders are all you need, no need to get any fancy silver or gold ones.
