What's the point of playing a social deduction game with random strangers over text? As someone who has played literally 400 games in-person, I couldn't ever play shitler like this.
I can just barely manage the Tabletop Sim version, since at least that has audio (but it has sperglords who only want to play based on math and card counting)

It's a league of difficulty above playing the game in real life or with normal people. You have no confidence in whether you're playing with retards or with the super intelligent when playing with Sup Forums. People are also way more likely to try outrageous strategies here or make mistakes due to the relative inexperience of everybody.
Playing with a dedicated group sounds like it gets a lot more boring since consistent tells and characterization becomes a lot more easier you play with any specific person whereas with a bunch of random internet strangers, only the most spergiest of sperg retain a consistent image.

Sup Forums doesn't seem used to taking strong positions unless specifically taking a role to do so. There's a bunch of Sup Forums players entirely willing to go into hard mindgames and vocal accusations when a facist, but are entirely benign or disinterested when playing liberal whereas you need to be 100% vocal as a true liberal to gain any significant headway with your actual peers.
I got conflicted 1st turn as a liberal and then immediately investigated another facist and had to 100% stick to my insistence that they were facists. Facists dogpiled me instantly with my conflicter trying to sound reasonable, but I kept my insistence and got instashot when a facist got the first bullet. But then a liberal got the second one and chose to shoot the person I investigated who was Hitler.
The key to being facist is seeming reasonable. The key to being liberal is being loud to the point you're so suspicious it'd be unrealistic if you were a facist.

You basically need to watch out for people saying people are suspicious including themselves. People who present the facts straight, but calmly are also a good chance for shadow Hitler. But there are also Hitlers that are vocal and argumentative to the point of seeming like a true liberal. Incredibly good for getting people to believe they're at least not Hitler for calling so much attention. Facists generally try to suggest 2 relatively benign players which include Hitler as well as a lib. The actual lib then feels more trust in the other suggestee slightly as well as the person who suggested them when in reality they're getting bamboozled into voting for Hitler or nominating him when they're president.
