Yeah it essentially breaks the game when you can have 30+ full heals, basically having 1000 hearts. It's sad because they could have at least limited cooked food slots like with weapon slots. There isn't even a "fullness" bar like in other games with food for health to limit you from eating 20 turkeys in the same 20 second period.
This is why good action games like Dark Souls have you do an animation when you heal, you essentially have to be good enough to judge when you need to heal so you can access the rest of your healthbar from the heals.
>It's sad because they could have at least limited cooked food slots like with weapon slots.
It is limited, but I partially agree with you as 60 meals is still a lot.
>There isn't even a "fullness" bar like in other games
What other games have that?
You can always get gud and not get hit so you don't eat 20 meals in one fight. Hero mode also exists
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
>get hit
Fucking casuals go back to whatever normalfag hole you came from
literally what
I bet you’re a save scummer from way back, learn how to play games and you won’t have to heal so often
>make an eating animation
>play it in the menu instead of realtime in game
Nintendo seal of quality
>Shitpost, pause, eat
>Shitposr, pause, eat
>engaging in combat ever
what the fuck are you doing?
You have to be 18 to post here
BOTW is a casual exploration game, not a skill based combat game
Literally Skyrim lite
>get hit, pause, eat herb
GOTY
You weren't showered with herbs in RE4, they were very limited.
There's active and passive game breaking mechanics. In botw you have to actively break the game. You chose to pause the game after every hit. You have no right to complain.
>skyrim lite
BoTW is far more challenging, interesting, and well developed than fucking skyrim of all things
please don't ever shitpost with a bethesdrone game near me ever again
play the game again
>Just stop using game mechanics lmao
>xxD if I grind healing items the game is easy LOL
Okay? Who the hell is forcing you to stuff yourself to the brim with food? Why are you grinding healing items and then complaining about healing too much?
Are you retarded?
>grind on some RPG
>oh man this game is so fucking easy LOL I kill everything in one hit
>You chose to pause the game after every hit
It's a central aspect of the game retard and the only way to heal outside heart containers.
>user lacks the restraint to stop eating
Sounds about right.
>Implying you have to grind to get a fair amount of food
>hit enemy with weapon
>weapon breaks
>pause
>pick new weapon
>repeat
> Git gud
> Don't pause
> Keep playing
>get hit, drink, flex, get hit
>git gud, don't get hit, no need to drink
cooked food slots should have been limited like weapon slots
If you were awful enough that you needed more than 5 foods at a time, you could've just used seeds to upgrade that limit
Having 60 from the start promotes an awful play styles, especially when you get reloaded almost exactly where you died.
Well of course the GOTY is a shallow mess designed to appeal to retards. This has been the case every year since... always.
newfag
Needing to set self imposed challenges to not break the game in your favor just highlights how bad the design is.
>cooked food slots should have been limited like weapon slots
They are
Exactly, it's Nintendo's Skyrim
just because you can eat after getting hit does not mean the game design is bad though
The limit is yourself.
You decide how much food you want to carry. Game isn't forcing you to gather every single food. You are deciding to make the game easier for you out of your own free will.
Don't blame the game on your lack of self-control.
"like weapon slots" means you start with 5 and are upgradable with seeds
NOT FUCKING 60
BOTW isn't praised for the load of garbage mechanics that Nintendo adopted from the stinking heap of open world fodder. Without the WiiU's unique interface, the game menus couldn't be much more fluid. I think the overall execution and a thoughtful interactive engine are what make it stand out.
Correct, but not having eating be realtime like literally every other action in the game is 2002 tier game design.
but food is one use items that include elixirs.
Get over your bitterness, kid.
who are you quoting
doesn't make it bad
Sup Forums sucks Dragon's dogma's dick so why not
I just don't want the next Zelda to adopt these awful mechanics, that's all.
what awful mechanics?
Try reading the thread
They should have made the eating animation occur after you un-pause, so if you're in the middle of a fight you'll get smacked and interrupted. It would make using food as a preparation tool much more important because you wouldn't be able to spam food in fights.
Hmm if only there was another game that actually did this
*cough* Horizon *cough*
Hero mode is stupid because
1. You gotta pay for it
2. Enemies regen like crazy so if you get knocked away you can take forever to kill a camp
3. I swear durability is worse, if not more glaring an issue
KH1 came out in 2002 and had real time item usage.
Yes, a core mechanic completely breaking the game does make it bad.
So pic related is bad now? You retards can't even keep your arguments straight.
Okay...? Good for them, but I'm just talking about Zelda here and what would improve it, not asking what other games did that.
The fact that you can eat as you're getting ragdolled by an enemy is extremely retarded.
I got too bored of the game after 2 divine beasts, the combat was just awfully boring and easy, the shrines were meh.
Yes, DMC3's item system is bad. The great core combat (which BotW lacks) makes up for it.
You cant call it easy if you need to spam heals. That means youre getting hit constantly and relying on a crutch.
Darkest dungeon
Thats the point .. a flawed healing system isn't some colossal flaw that ruins the combat, especially when it's so easy to ignore.
>You cant call it easy if you aren't limiting yourself because otherwise it's literally so easy a toddler could play it
>a flawed healing system isn't some colossal flaw that ruins the combat
It is because it renders you untouchable. DMC3 ranks disallow items, and the combat is lightyears ahead of BotW, which compensates.
Exactly if it was easy you wouldn't need to heal at all , you probably got shredded by Lynels and had to spend most of the fight in a menu like the shitter you are
>It's not like muh Dark Souls waahhhhhh
Srsly you fucking retards are the worst thing to happen since graphics whores. Zelda is built in a way to be compensating for players of every kind and all skill levels. It's not filled with the childish git gud, or muh hardcore video game mentality. It's fine as it is. If want a challenging game, there are many others, go play them.
I hated this in MGS3 and I hated it here. Really breaks the flow of the action
the game's item system was tailored to your needs. if you were showered with healing items, it's because you were getting hit a lot you fucking scrub.
It's probably a series of bad design decisions.
>make huge open world game without any limitations to where you can go
>only using one armor in a 200 hour game would be boring so add an armor system with stats
>first Zelda game with stats so they're all fucked to shit and completely imbalanced because damage and defense is calculated additively for some reason
>players can take anywhere between 1 and 20+ hearts of damage from the same attack depending on clothes
>bottles are too limiting and would be complicated to distribute well over the world
>instead give players 60 slots for food because "eh, they'll have a bunch of 3-heart meals and shit filling out"
>1 (one) hearty ingredient is a full heal
>inventory is the same menu as saving and reloading and also the game is targeted towards children, so the game has to be paused when browsing through items
This. Adults can play the game without healing items, kids can get through it with healing and upgraded armor. Its a good way to design a game that appeals to everyone.
Neck yourself you brainlet. Read my post again, because you clearly don't understand it. Fucking nintentoddler sub 80IQ shitter.
Outside of Dark Souls, don't most action games do this?
I did and I fail to see any
>Exactly if it was easy you wouldn't need to heal at al
It's easy because healing completely trivializes combat.
Food spawns are completely independent of your performance.
>first Zelda game with stats
This was such a retarded fucking decision.
It doesn't break the game though?
No, they don't.
Sounds like you're just bad at the game
>completely making all damage that doesn't kill you outright irrelevant
>not breaking the game
Choose one. Only one.
Dark Souls is the best video game ever made sorry cry harder
HAHAHA nostagia cuck SEETHING.
Why does it make all damage irrelevant?
realtime item use animations were not invented by dark souls
nu-gamer twitch watcher
Personally I think this problem could be fixed with a simple adjustment, make food items heal over time. This way you can't just eat 100 apples to beat an enemy that you are shit at fighting.

Opinions of nu-gamers get discredited instantly as they have no merit behind them. Classic Zelda formula was objectively better sorry redditor
being this retarded
they weren't but the 'gamers' here at Sup Forums wouldn't know that. It's literally the only game they have to reference.
>This was such a retarded fucking decision.
To be fair, Zora armor in TP made you take more fire and ice damage iirc. It's not an awful decision, it's just implemented poorly.
Not a single aspect in BotW feels finished, but almost all of them are good ideas and work in the sense that the game doesn't outright crash.
The worst offender are korok seeds
>main filler of the world
>reduce in value as they get scarcer
>removes a problem intentionally put in by the devs just to make you feel like you're progressing
I don't know how they managed to make a game where the main idea is exploration but the world filler isn't fun to find.
...
>>damage that doesn't kill you outright irrelevant
On normal mode nothing but falls and guardian lasers can instantkill you.
Any damage that would 1shot you just leaves you with 1/4 of a heart.
Another safety net Nintendo added for casuals
keep crying
it is fun to find because of how fun it is to just go out and explore the world. I can see how an autist who is expecting and requires a rigid set of rules and direction to follow would be disappointed though
talking about resident evil 4, please learn to read thank you
That doesn't mean damage is irrelevant though. What if I only want to go out with Elixirs?
also this is still probably the least casual Zelda game in a while
Not an argument nintenbro

Zelda has always been a casual game though?

Great game design.
>calls others numales

Nice try, soyboy
Healing within battles should be completely eliminated.
Healing should be more like pokemon without potions and you should only be able to heal in pokemon centers
I'll take Nuzlocke for 300, Alex. Fuck off you autistic faggot.
