A Hub world where you can decide which area you want to go to. I really don't like that you have to complete Odyssey in a specific order. And you can't possibly argue that it's because it has a story, the story is literally nothing.

Reduce the star/moon count and in return make them harder to get. I fucking love 64 and Odyssey is right up my alley but at a certain point it feels like I'm going through a checklist.

Harder punishment. 10 coins isn't enough. It should be atleast 30-50 coins. I do understand why they did that tho. To encourage players to take risks which does go hand in hand with the level design. Still I was never hurting for coins...

No goddamn jump rope/volleyball mini games fuck that shit.

I want more of those tubes with the 3D World like platforming sections.
Best parts of the game desu.

Make it hardeeeeer. There is no life system, so they can make it super hard it would be okay.

Instead of ten coins they should do something like taking 10% of totals away per death

I actually want none of them and I want them to make 3D World 2. Mixing them together made me appreciate the open aspect less just as putting open aspects in 3D World would make me appreciate the linear design less.

The bullet bill no hat challenge was awesome. The last third of the game should all be that hard.

Oh and the bosses. God they are easy. Even the fucking gigantic dragon.

You shouldn't be hurting for coins. Coin grinding is a pain in the ass in this game to unlock all the cool costumes and there's no incentive to do anything other than the Bowser's castle grinding.
Making you lose a million coins for dying wouldn't make it harder. It would make the game more annoying. If there was one point in the game where it would reset your entire save if you missed a simple jump, it wouldn't be hard, it would be fucking annoying.

make it actually go to past places that marios been to around the world instead of a bunch of random shit that looks like they were cobbled together from failed IPs.

cut moons down to 120 and actually make them take effort getting

and boom you have a better game

Completely agreed, I never wanted to refight them and only did so for completion. I don't know how to make them harder though.

Nah it should be 300 or even 500 moons, I like just how many challenges there are, though I feel like about half of them could have easily been cut out.

Well some easy stuff like not doing the same thing to hurt them everytime, more attack patterns and they should have more life, make it longer.

the rematch with the desert boss was a fucking nightmare
adding a billion fucking mummy ghosts that spawn all around you while trying to avoid the statue's attacks made it pretty fucking hard

>should have more life, make it longer.
That's not harder at all. I can easily beat every boss without getting hit, why should I have to waste my time hitting them over and over again?

Oh, that's easy:

>much longer main game
>more challenging
>much, much, MUCH less filler collectibles that serve absolutely no purpose other than to pad the game
>more secrets that don't rely on rehashing the same shit

Odyssey was one of the weakest 3D Mario games and everyone will see that when the honeymoon phase dies down. Make the sequel tighter and more focused in its design and you instantly have a better successor.

It goes in a straight line to follow the homer's odyssey narrative

This

That's fucking stupid and you can't honestly type that without thinking it's stupid.

You mean 80% should have been cut out.

Literally only 20% of all Moons have anything even remotely resembling a unique challenge.

You are stupid.

Nah, just finding stuff can be fun.
The eel egg thing wasn't hard but getting rewarded for looking around is nice.

Do you think they just gave it the name odyssey for the fucking hell of it?

By that logic the Korok Seeds in BotW were good, and even those at least required a small puzzle and weren't just laying around or under some obviously shiny spot in the ground.

Was about to say this, but the requirement of moons to progress is so fucking low it makes this kinda useless.

Use the god tier air control mechanics to design platforming levels around it. The next game should be a platformer with collectathon elements not the other way around. We need much more verticality in the level design and consequence if we fail to platform well. Apart from the platforming there should be varied challenges that are more creative and less challenging to let the player relax before they get another difficult platforming section.

You don't even have to change the game that much to accomplish this. Just let the hub worlds with moons stay as they are and add in some real platforming levels that are unlocked to progress through the world. So you get all the casual fun of odyssey while progressing like the old games.

You realize like 90% of Mario 64's stars were "just get to that spot", right?

yeah, but if you add more attacks pattern to the mix, it become harder

Coin grinding? I am only missing the trans outfit and that's only cause i don't want it. I bought everything without a problem and without griding..i had the coins simply from playing over and over.

did you buy enough moons to get 999 after collecting all the others?

Not him but yeah. Japanese developers use cool-sounding english words they don't understand all the time.

do you hate fun or something

Fix the issues
add a hub like 64, Sunshine, Galaxy all had
Add the stuff it was missing (like Boos)

Put more emphasis on the mission structure so the levels can change more like in 64/Sunshine. Shouldn't be too hard as the game already had it, just really minimally. Night time Sand Kindgom and stormy New Donk were cool but there's no way to go back to them.

Why do you guys want a hub? Literally what does it add to the game?

My only real wish for Odyssey 2 is that they make it more challenging. Odyssey has its moments where it's definitely challenging, but for the most part the game felt too easy for me, especially the post-game rematches with bosses. I think they should've had new phases and new attack patterns so it's not just the same boss as before but with a slight difference.

Anyway, all it really has to do is do what Mario Galaxy 2 did for the original Mario galaxy. Make it more challenging, add cool new elements to the game, more interesting level design. Not that Odyssey isn't a great game.

No I still enjoyed Odyssey immensely, it's my second favourite 3D Mario game right after 64.

Each world is a time period.

samurai world
sci fi world
pirate world
etc

And no fucking hat bullshit

Having a small space you can frequently go to is an intrinsic good.

why

The Odyssey itself is the game's hub world, how do you all not see this?

I'm fully expecting a DLC with Luigi playing the lead role to explain his absence in the game.

Hard limit of 300 Moons
Hub world
Reduce height on cap jump, too easy to come back after a fall
No easy moons just lying out in the open, have to complete platforming challenges to unlock

Hubs are comfy, you know when you're in the hub you're home
Plus they can allow for a bit of extra exploration and ways to cleverly hide more worlds

boy am i glad you cunts arent the ones designing mario games

I don't think there will be an Odyssey sequel.
DLC maybe, but it's not a Galaxy situation.

It contributes to the human feeling of being happy when you're home. Where is home in Mario Odyssey?

The Mushroom Kindgom technically.

But that's technically. It has as much stake to being home as the Luncheon Kingdom.

the whole fucking point of the game is that its a journey. there is no home.

You can't unironically fall back on the story defense for a Mario game.

I can fall back on the whole fucking concept of the game.
Fucking retard.

>Take Cap Kingdom
>Add paintings and more electric wires around it
>This is your hub
Happy now?

>make more worlds like steam gardens, Two themes mash together to make a level, not just "this is the water level, this is the snow level"
>remove some of the filler moons like "ground pound this shiny spot"
>Replace some of the "just explore" moons with half/quarter moons, Find more and you get a full moon

That's about it, maybe make Luigi playable in the post game so it feels even more like new game+

No that's stupid
Cap Kingdom is creepy and unsettling
Good examples of hubs are places that you feel you can relax in: Peach's Castle, Delfino Plaza, Comet Observatory
With catchy or soothing soundtracks

Not have 800+ fucking moons to collect that most are easy as balls to collect.

what a stupid post

The game needs to demand more from you as a player to learn the movement options. I didn't learn how to do long jump-cap throw-dive-cap jump-cap catch-cap throw-dive until the post game and once I did it was basically the only way I moved around.

There's a bell curve of enjoyment where you're either dazzled by the love and care put into the game's presentation with all its different capture abilities or you're getting the most out of the movement options. However there's a group of people in between who did things the basic way relying on capture, and found that it was more often than not the key to getting around obstruction rather than a tool for interesting platforming challenge. There's a reason why Pokio is far and away the most popular capture ability, because players got to think more about progressing to the next challenge gauntlet with it rather than just using it as the key to a lock.

It was only on my second play through where I really fell in love with the game. I think my extended play sessions and need to find all the moons in a kingdom before progressing soured my first experience.

>Second hint art achievement moon says I need to collect 5 more hint art moons
>Only missing 4 moons from all the kingdoms besides Dark and Darker Side
>None of them are hint art moons

The fuck is this shit?

dark side has a fuckton of hint art moons

You could have a mechanic where frequency of death ups the amount of coins lost.

Really? I thought it was just broodal rematches and some platforming challenges.

The rematches should have been the default battles. They still weren't hard but now they at least had the move sets to match their scale.

Having Mario get married. Doesn't matter who.

Hint art out the ass. Sends you on a fucking worldwide scavenger hunt. Hated it since I had gotten all the moons in the other kingdoms already.

All the kingdoms are a part of one map but they're locked GTA-style until you progress to a certain point

How would a traditional 64/Sunshine hub world even work in a game like Odyssey?

64, Sunshine, and as well as the Banjo games could get away with having traditional hub worlds because they all took place in one location (Peach's Castle, Isle Delfino, Gruntilda's Lair, Isle O' Hags). The Galaxy games are about traveling to many different galaxies and planets, and Odyssey is about traveling throughout the entire globe. A proper hub world wouldn't really fit in.

>make the hub an airport or something
Wow, that was hard.

Then they could do cheeky shit like a trick room haunted mansion which is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside and is its own kingdom within a kingdom

Make the hub world Mario and Luigi's house, and I'd be all for it.

The worlds are in a specific order so that the difficulty of each world can increase; if each world wasn't in a certain order you would complain about the lack of challenge (whether the worlds were all the same difficulty or various difficulties)

What is this obession with a hub. Jesus heres what they could do. Just make the Odyssey a huge spaceship that you can travel around instead of one room, kinda like Hat In Times hub. Theres your pointless hub world.

BECAUSE MENUS ARE FUCKING BORING AND HUBS GIVE THE GAME MORE STYLE AND CHARISMA. SOMETHING THAT NINTENDO CLEARLY LIKES AND TRIES TO DO.

they waste your fucking time, that's a lot more boring

>Cap Kingdom is creepy and unsettling
How much of a fucking pleb do you have to be to think this? Do you dislike Rogueport too?

make it like Galaxy 1 or 2.

Or sunshine.

or 64.

Or Mario Bros 1, 2, 3.

Or Super Mario World 1 or 2.

Really, make it like any other Mario game. Odyssey was the most shallow, boring, and casual of all the Marios. It was funny and had cool settings, but that's it, really.

Shit like Mario doing an animation when he gets a moon also waste time, Do you want to remove that too?
Are you one of those "this game does not respect my time" faggots?

You can play as Mario or as Donkey Kong.

That doesn't mean I think it's bad, it's just a description

beating the different levels unlocks playable characters

>people ITT want a greater punishment for death.

Nintendo was right to remove the life system out of 3D Mario. It is an outdated concept that doesn't actually add difficulty.

>Japanese developers use cool-sounding english words they don't understand all the time.
this only information came from a weeb's armchair analysis with little research involved

they're not brainlet as you think they aren't for stuff they do

Super Luigi Odyssey when?

Galaxy's hub was garbage

if the only similarity between Mario Odyssey and Homer's Odyssey that you can come up with is "they're both linear" then you have a very flimsy argument.

This but Metro Kingdom

The dragon was so fucking disappointing.
>see giant dragon
>"holy fucking shit that's awesome"
>drops me in a kingdom that looks straight out of dark souls
>Get super hype
>kingdom is just walking to an arena
>"what the fuck"
>at least the boss will be cool
>expect to ride around on his back and shit
>You just fight his head that has standard Mario boss shockwave attacks
>completely neuter what could be a cool fight

Most disappointing part of the game IMO. Most of the bosses were boring as hell. Make them multi-phase or larger in scale, and they'll be better than the trash we got

are you ACTUALLY complaining how easy bosses are in a mainline MARIO game?
i mean Phanta Manta was hard because all the microscopic shit you had to clean up then kill, but it's not even tedious either

Did you read my post? I don't care that it was easy, I'm upset that they didn't take a risk with it and make it more exciting. It was boring as hell! They could have had you jump in clouds, ride its back, capture it, anything instead of just lay its head in the ground!

Keep Crazy Cap but make outfits for Peach as a reward for collection all the Kingdom's Moons to incentivize replay value

I prefer the odyssey to the hubs in 64, sunshine, and galaxy. Hubs are feel more magical, but they can get very tedious. Also, they are also absurd, especially in Galaxy. If it's a spaceship, why do you need to go the a galaxy through a door. Why not fly to a galaxy?
