Is this the best controller of all time?
After using it, I'm having issues going back to the DS3, Sony really got the weight just right with the DS4. Also having the audio jack is really convenient for using headphones while playing

>this is the best controller of all time because its better than one of the worst controllers of all time
no
i think im in the minority here but i loved the dual shock 3, the sticks were better for fps games for me, the ds4 either feeling like im moving through butter or are all over the place and no inbetween.
I like everything except the analog sticks.
>dumbass lightbar and touch pad that eat battery
>ruined placements of start and select
>share button completely unnecessary, that shit belongs in the quick menu
>terrible rubber quality on sticks
>sticks are some fucking stupid combination of concave and convex
>you don't get less input lag when playing wired
You Sony shills sure are in full campaign, aren't you? Is that cause you don't have anything to play? Sorry, kid but the DS4 sucks balls.
>builds $1000 pc's with gay rgb lighting everywhere
>is upset when sony does lighting right and classy in its controller
>I'm having issues going back to the DS3
no shit
But seriously, yes, it's the best controller available right now.
One doesn't make my PC have a 7 hour battery life :^)
Aside from the lightbar and the share button it's fantastic.
Using it on PC with DS4Windows makes it the best controller available.
>no light
>share is select
>touchpad actually works as a touchpad, which is really nice when you want to pilot your PC from the couch
First of all, I don't do that shit. My pc isn't a fucking christmas tree.
Second, our pc's won't die in 5 hours.
Excuse me, can you please provide your proof of purchase of a Sony Playstation 4 and Controller so we can know you have actually have experienced the Dualshock 4 and are not just blindly posting negative messages about Sony?
DualShock will always make better controllers than Xbox's. Am I the only one who enjoys the symmetry of a controller? I really hate when both joysticks are on opposite end of the controller
You have great taste
Sony took 20 years but they made the perfect controller
Analog, d-pad, buttons, triggers, everything is perfect about the DS4
well... maybe the battery life but I use USB cable so it doesn't affect me
Yes it is the best. Watching the new Dreams gameplay convinced me this is the best controller ever made.
No, gamecube or 360 is probably the best.
It’s a decent controller but light bar drains the battery too fast even on dim settings (should be able to turn off completely) and it feels like a light plastic bootleg pos. Other than that it’s fine.
Do you remember the first PS1 controller? in a way it was better than the Dual Shock 2 in my opinion
1) better d-pad (it was smooth)
2) The buttons were extreme comfortable to press and no sensitive bullshit like the DS2
3) not only DS2 had sensitive but the quality of buttons weren't good as the PS1 controller (pic)
4) it had the perfect size for everyone. If you had small hands it was good, big hands it was good, medium hands it was good.
See the square, triangle and circle buttons? they are smoother and more responsive. That was lost with the DS2 and DS3. Sony only fixed it with the release of DS4
>light bar is a single led just like every other controller ever has had
>touchpad doesn't even get used unless its TOUCHED so how tf can it eat battery
>battery is literally free and lasts a decent time, you'll literally have to play for 24 hours straight for it to die and cause a "problem"
>share button is not used a share button pc
>one bad batch of rubber sticks and everyone loses their minds, xbox has been doing this for years no one bats an eye
>talking shit about a stick preference
>input lag with bluetooth is considerably less and range far superior than microsoft's shit wireless or the horrible joke of switch's joy dildos.
That shit is GOAT.
Wins at Evo too.
It's honestly a horrible controller. Everything from build quality to not being able to swap out batteries so if your battery dies, so does your controller. There's also way too many gimmicks for a controller and none of them are ever put to use in games.
>Also having the audio jack is really convenient for using headphones while playing
it was more useful when most bluetooth headsets worked fine with the ps3
what controller isnt better than the DS 2 and 3
>lets add concept controllers in the picture that never even saw the light of day other than a glass case
Alright useless scale alert
It has the best d-pad since the saturn and probably the best quality
I have one for 11 months, use every day on PC and it's brand new. In 2014 they had issues with the analog rubber but it's fixed now
It is truly the best. I especially like the d-pad, I never liked how the d-pad felt in previous DS gamepads. The touchpad is a smart way of using the available space too.
>Is this the best controller of all time?
Who could be behind such an asinine and autistic baiting post?
what's the problem with the what were they thinking category? it's self-explanatory. They are horrible, look horrible.
Stop being a contrarian just to start useless wars
>>>>>>
>i can't undo 4 screws mommy
Nigger what? Are you that inept you cant find a philips and buy a battery off amazon/ebay to do a quick swap?
fuck yes it is. bought one for black friday
prior to this, I played controlller friendly pc games with a 360 controller
I'm never going back and sorry I didn't get one sooner
>dumbass lightbar and touch pad that eat battery
Doesn't eat that much battery
>ruined placements of start and select
Improved them you mean
>share button completely unnecessary, that shit belongs in the quick menu
Much easier to take screenshots now. Improvement.
>terrible rubber quality on sticks
Only on the first generation of controllers
>sticks are some fucking stupid combination of concave and convex
Half agree. It isn't bad but it isn't great either.
>you don't get less input lag when playing wired
You do with slim ps4 and ps4pro.
You done?
This is literally the best controller ever.
youtube.com
xbox fat and joycons are more comfortable than the dreamcast controller
dreamcast controller had the right idea for its time but it was so fucking unergonomic it should probably be in its own tier of 1/10
>y-you j-just have to unscre-
Yeah, nah
Okay, so what about the dual analog controller and the first dual shock?
My only problem with the dual analog controller is that the sticks are made from plastic and not rubber
Best d-pads of the past 10 years
1) DS4
2) Switch pro controller
3) Wii U pro controller
4) Wii Pro controller
5) any logitech
6) Xbox one
......
.............
400) 360
Best analogs:
1) Xbox One
2) DS4
3) Switch Pro
4) Wii U pro
5) 360
6) third party/logitech
anyone agree? I'm using systems that were released in 2005/2006 to today
Switch pro controller is better imo
sonybros btfo
You're a special kind of autist are you and the bone controller is better
>he plays for 5 hours straight
you need to calm down and go outside and socialize bud. you need help
Switch pro analogs are above DS4.
Isn't there a problem with its dpad though?
How do you wash your hands out of curiosity?
Yes. DS4 is the most comfy controller I've used. Only flaw is the options and share buttons.
Xbox One S is better
>we can finally use these again on the switch
>lost mine in a move
>authentics are 90+ bones and even some of those are third parties
fuuck I wish they would bring these fuckers back
>DS4 D-pad above wii u/switch pro
>having a GF that bought you the most comfy controller I'v ever used
Im gonna have to marry this one
>Okay, so what about the dual analog controller and the first dual shock?
I got a PS1 in 1995 and I had all these controllers except I don't remember the one at the botton. I don't know if I had one or if in 1997 I simply bought the top pic(dual shock)
My opinion on the dual shock 1 is it's amazing but you can see they changed the d-pad and the quality of circle, x, triangle and square weren't good as the original playstation controller
but in the end I still prefer the DS1 over the DS2.
This and it's not even close.
I'm with you, though I'd personally go back to the DS2 over that even. They were perfect in my eyes.
>faggy touchscreen
Nope, its dualshock 3/2
setting them on fire works for me
>I got a PS1 in 1995 and I had all these controllers except I don't remember the one at the botton
It was released just before the dual shock was released
>Is this the best controller of all time?
Battery life is trash and the rubber wears out on the sticks. I agree the weight and feel is superior to the DS3.
I hate the share button, but I don't blame sony for it's existence. Fucking social media share everything culture.
Boo hoooooo you don't have to use it.
Switch d-pad is almost a tie with DS4 d-pad.
I prefer DS4 because it has a mechanism that push your finger back after you press. It makes so much easier to do combos
The Wii U d pad? nah
The first DS1 had rubber I assume you didn't like the one before the dual shock
The D-pad at first was exactly like the original controller but then they went with the same design of future Ds2 and DS3
The sticks are a little further apart, which I love. My thumbs very rarely touched on the old DS, but now they never do.
look at the thumbsticks on the bottom panel (known as the Dual Analog ontroller)
as someone who personally owns that controller, I can tell you they are made out of plastic and are not rubber like the dual shock (which was released after)
however, the size of the controller is longer and the idea of concave thumbsticks is a much better idea than the convex ones we got; they just needed the right material
that could work. Another question is why they changed the original PS1 controller d-pad when they released the DS1. Why they changed the quality of buttons on DS1, DS2 and DS3 when the first PS1 controller was perfect
I think japs have some obsessed views...
see this: twitter.com
"NO"
Thankfully the DS4 is good and hopefully they will use the same controller on PS5
I actually liked the DC controller - the VMU screen was super cool - but man, that cord coming out the bottom was way too short. Like so short it was actually kind of a big deal short.
Pro controller made for midgets, ds4 all the way baby
If you would combine the switch ergonomics with the ds4s triggers and headphone jack you would have the perfect controller
The VMU was cool but my wrists felt like they were arched up the entire time of using it, mainly because of the placement of the triggers the cord didn't help at all.
i held them both, ds4 is more comfortable to rest index fingers on r1 and l1, xbox 'feels' more premium
Switch pro controller is bigger actually
The Wii U d-pad is the best out of all them you tremendous faggot
UNGA BUNGA ROCKSTOP
The Switch pro is 100000x better. The d-pad Wii pro controller is also better than the wii u
In that list I fucked up the wii pro is above the wii u
I use it on my PC and I agree, it's pretty damn good. You can turn off the light bar and do all kinds of customizations if you download DS4Windows. Also, on V2 controllers you don't get any input lag if you use it wired.
Definitely a god tier controller.
As someone who owned every Playstation to ever come out, I gotta say the 360 is probably the best one, just fits great in your hands. The PS4 one is definitely an improvement over the PS3 one.
>that hand
What's good Paco?
DS3/2 Were perfect, the DS4 fucked it all up.
>that’s no Mexican hand that’s clearly the hand of a canadian
I more meant the placement of the buttons; I never use the share button either though.
The x1 controller is just better. Better stick config, I like the rounded buttons, better moulded triggers, clicky dpad and shoulder buttons, better analog grips, works natively in Windows for every modern pc game which supports and controller and has Xbox promts too.
Etc etc.
d-pad is an abomination though
better than the 360 but not by much
Literally no ones ever used it so how can you judge how well it was or not? From reports the banana style actually felt good in the hands other than that no solid evidence. Its was a concept and it was never released. Every company has concepts.
I'd take a lesser d-pad if I got all of the goodies here
Literally the size of a tiny finger
Yeah. I remember constantly putting my elbows on my knees and leaning forward a lot to play. Dumb cord.
I did the wrist thing too, but I thought it was due to big hands.
Go to bed ruggarel
>autism post of the decade award goes to-
Congrats user! You've got to be fucked if you have a problem with the battery. I still have launch ds4 controller and I can get a 4-5 days use before needing to plug it in.
>he didn't watch the crowbat video
Fuck man for something so expensive I feel sorry for those who purchased this pos
playstation d-pads were never that great either.
so maybe you guys can help me.
Anyone else having problems when using a 2nd gen ps4 controller in COD WW2? I have both one 1st and one 2nd gen controller. It is almost impossible to sprint when using the 2nd gen controller, the avatar just slightly moves forward and jerks as if it was running on mud. This seems to happen only on COD and only on that particular controller.
I really doubt it's the controller, I have used it on other games with no issues and the sprinting problem persists even when changing controller layout so srpinting is no longer done with any joystick.
Which ? DS1, DS2 and DS3 were pretty bad I agree
Too light and holo, It doesn't feel cheap< but It doesn't feel like it's worth $60 either, not tho mention the atrocious battery life. Xbone controller is the best by far, best controller created period, and I will physically fight those who disagree.
DS4 is a decent controller, but I wouldn't call it the best. The joysticks are brittle and break really easily. One of the fatal flaws of most dualshocks though, is that after a certain amount of time they become really uncomfortable to hold. The claw position cramps the hands. Oh, and the springs give out in the buttons really easily, at least in the case of DS2. Dualshock has some really nifty shit going for it, like the diamond position and bumpers, but the d-pads have always been sort of meh. I would say that there is no single controller that is objectively the best because all of them possess enough flaws to prevent that. You're always compromising with one or the other. Not to mention the fact that everyone's hands are different.
>reading comprehension
>only playing 5 hours
When a new rpg comes out I usually go 8-10 hours a day until I beat it
Mine works perfect, and even if it didnt I live in a country with great customer laws, so it wouldnt be a problem.
The Switch Pro's d-pad can be a little finicky, but other than that I think it's quite possibly the most comfortable controller I've ever used, alongside Gamecube. The buttons are gigantic and have a nice feel to them, plus I really dig the control sticks, they feel smooth and just glide. The only complaint I have, besides the d-pad, is that the shoulder buttons are digital. Not a big fan of that. But holy fuck, I can handle this controller for hours without cramping up. I love my Wii U Pro, but after about 3 hours it hurts to use. Same goes for my DS3.
>best d-pads
>missing the Vita
I'd argue it's dpad is roughly #2 on the list
You got lucky, but for the price of them people shouldn't have had the problems they had.
the problem is that i'd have to include handhelds and they aren't basically controllers
I just got my PS4 a few days ago. How the fuck are you supposed to hold the Dualshock 4, lads? My thumbs wind up resting on the outer rim of the sticks; it feels awkward to precisely move them and it seems like my thumbs should be resting right in the middle, but they're not. I have normal-sized hands and it feels like the sticks are just too far apart.
If only cuphead was on vita... I'd buy it again for that.
>touchpad doesn't even get used unless its TOUCHED so how tf can it eat battery
imagine being this retarded
>alongside Gamecube
what's the deal with v obsession with one of the worst controllers ever made?
but yeah the Wii U pro I could never use more than 2 hours. for some reason the trigger position was hurting my hands and finger
The analog wasn't good it was too far from the center
