The same reason why the ejection ports are also on the left side of the guns. It makes the gun much more interesting to look at apparently. A lot of old games used to do this.

Yes. I find it super annoying how Fallout 4s guns are designed. too many left handed bolts. They say it's for the sake of showing off animations but all the animations are lazy, just like their weapon design.

it's because you can make a stockless hunting rifle in the game, and the reload animation for it will only make sense if the weapon is left handed

Or they could make a second animation, but that would require effort.

Man I feel the same way. Finding a ballistic weapon that does laser or plasma damage really drags me out of the game. Even more so when I find it on a dead animal that obviously shouldn't have it.

They relied to hard on RNG. makes the whole game fell shallow

most guns in video games have the bolts and e-ports on wrong side if the weapon so the player can see brass flying out and watch reload animations.

Yeah. It can sort of work in skyrim because gods and magic and stuff, but in fallout it feels retarded. They also shot world building in the foot with leveled random loot, no longer can they tell stories with item placement like new vegas would

A left side bolt is better so you don't have to use your trigger hand to cycle the action

A consistent trigger pull is much more important
Doesn't matter how good your aim is if every time you shoot you're letting the muzze drift

Also you don't really aim with the left hand, it's just for support.

I give the example of the giant blank desert from prim to novac in NV I have a find memory of first going through there my first play through and damn I could almost feel the sand storm hitting me I was so fucking immersed but no in 4 every 5 feet is some stupid raider or event trigger never giving me the quiet peace of a true wasteland

Counter Strike Half life mod had default left hand. Wasn't until retail that it changed to right.
