There was a point in time where this was the most revolutionary game mechanic ever
no it wasn't
Faggot OP.
Thats just a meme.
Nope. Also fun fact that guard is the only one in the game who sees footprints. Lead another guard over to the snow and he wont see them.
so many modern games still have footprints disappear after a couple seconds/meters
cinematics, story, drama, boss battles, top notch voice work. MGS1 brought it all back from the years of Nintendo days.
I remember when real physics was first introduced. That was amazing to me at the time.
Not true. The guards in the first room can see the footprints you leave behind after getting your feet wet.
Is 1998 still the best year in video games?

kek. sorry grampa, but 2017 dethroned it with botw alone
This.
*dabs on old man river*
There was a post 2000 year that came pretty close (2006 I think?), and 2017 was actually really good too.
None of those games are good though. Take off the nostalgia goggles.
You must be at least 18 to post here.
MGS has a lot of attention to detail considering the year it came out
I think almost all of those mechanics were in Metal Gear 2.
It's also very aesthetic
>(2006 I think?),
Literally nothing noteworthy happened in 2006
I assume you're thinking of 2004, which got us HL2, D3, FC1, GTA:SA, MGS3, UT2k4, WoW...
>2017 was actually really good too
two (2) good Nintendo games =/= "really good".
bump
Yeah MGS did lots of cool shit. Then MGS2&3 did lots of cool shit. 4 did some cool stuff and MGSV stopped doing cool shit. Overall cool as shit series.
