Hi-Rez did what Hi-Rez does best, make a good game and then ruin it.
What do you mean what happened? This game was never anything more than a direct ripoff of Overwatch.
>hirez
Good might be a stretch. Its not shit but not quite good.
The only good game they ever made was Tribes.
So do they have a good dev team and a bad live team, or is it all the same fuckers?
>Those dislikes
Another Overwatch clone gets killed
Long live the superior product
the same thing hi rez does to all of its games
Why are people mad at the trailer?
they fucked with the card system. made it grind to win.
>woman presents
>being this new to hirez
something to do with a change that is not mentioned in the trailer, like you have to level up every character now somehow similar to battlefront 2 or something
They fucking ruined it for no good reason. It makes no sense. Either they have literal retards giving the development team orders or it was intentional sabotage. It's just so frustrating because the game was fine before and didn't need this change at all.
Who would have thought they would make questionable decisions?
There's nothing wrong with what's in that trailer, Hi-Rez actually does a good job releasing a massive amount of skins and characters for people to buy and unlock through gameplay. It's the fundamental gameplay changes that are bad, and NOT mentioned in that video for obvious reasons.
Basically before all this you start with a predefined loadout of weapons and skills (4 cards unlocked out of like, 20 or so I think) and as you play you gain "essence" (in game currency) to unlock other cards if you want to switch things up. You also got to define which cards had a stronger effect out of a base pool of resources, like say you make card 1 5x strong then with your remaining points cards 2-4 are only 2x strong to compensate. This way even if you're just starting there's customization available and it's all fair.
In the new update, all cards are unlocked from the start. No more essence, so people that paid real money to get essence right away and unlock everything are fucked over. Not only that, but you can't choose card strength anymore. All cards start off as 1x strong and to level them up it's RANDOM drops. There are hundreds of cards in the game, and no guarantee the card you get from a random drop will be for the one you want to level up. This obviously favors whales who will pay to roll lootbox after lootbox until the card they want is max level. EVEN WORSE is that if your card is max level, you can still get it as a random drop, which converts to a small amount of gold now instead, which you can use to buy, you guessed it, lootboxes.
I don't play this game, what's so bad about the trailer?
>so people that paid real money to get essence right away and unlock everything are fucked over
HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA
Tencent forces them to make it p2w because it works in china where kids spend hundreds on f2p games. It doesn't matter to them that they are losing players on steam.
yeah but it played so much better
also you say that like thats not how life works. do you think people are constantly inventing things out of thin air?
I've heard that the steam version is much more unstable compared to the client available on the homepage.
Time to try out Gigantic now
The game is being made incredibly P2W so it'll make mad bank in China from all the loot box shit that's now in the game.
dead game
It's what they didn't include in the trailer. They're changing a fundamental part of the game into a loot box gamble fest when it wasn't one before. Basically the same kind of ability level up card system that SWBF2 has.
Actually a lot of Paladins players have been trying out Battlerite for some reason. I mean I don't mind, Battlerite is cool but it's just weird that they would go from Paladins to a game that isn't even remotely similar. A Paladins youtuber named Joshino is helping that along though.
>new battlerite players
>Overwatch clone
>implying overwatch isn't a shameless TF2 clone
I don't play Paladins but what's the problem with this? Why are the extreme dislikes?
Read the thread.
What Hi-Rez does to all their games eventually
They're turning Paladins into pay2win which will kill the game.
reddit spacing saying paladins played better then anything period lol
the games was broken cash in with shitty server people who like it are retarded or BRs
Cry more OWtard
>This game was never anything more than a direct ripoff of Overwatch
And Overwatch was never anything more than a direct ripoff of Team Fortress 2, yet I bet you fellate that game considering you talk about it like it was the source of these type of shooters.
Overwatch came out 7 years after TF2 while Paladins came out within a year of Overwatch, so even making that comparison shows how downright stupid you are.
>playing sub 30 tickrate fps games.
I'll explain as simply as a I can.
Current system:
You create decks of cards to customize your characters to your liking. You can strengthen or weaken cards until they fit within the 12 point limit. You earn cards buy opening chests.
New System: Everyone has all the cards, but now cards have levels from 1-5 which you can only increase by getting duplicates of that card. For each successive level a card requires double of the previous one (2 cards for 2, 4 for 3, 8 for 4, 16 for 5). This means to level a card up to level 3 for one character you'd need 6 duplicates.
Here's where it gets worse: The chests that give you cards only drop 3 items at a time.
These chests also contain: Skins, voice packs, poses, emotes, sprays. You can potentially open a chest and receive not a single card but worthless shit for characters you do not play.
Paladins youtubers actually tested OB64 with hundreds of dollars worth of crystals and found this out themselves. Even people PAYING get colossal amounts of shit.
It gets better: In casuals (now Quick Play) it is a free for all. You can be teamed up with teammates stuck with Level 1 cards while the enemy team has decks of 4s and 5s. As predicted, the PTS has been an unfun stomping ground of broken cards and mismatched teams.
Hi Rez thought giving a high DPS character like Lex a card THAT LETS HIM DO 72% OF YOUR MAXIMUM FUCKING HEALTH IN 3 SHOTS was a good idea.
They're sticking to their guns and rolling this shit out. The community is rioting and heading off to other games like Battlerite and whatnot.
It's a free to play PvP game with a better monetization scheme. That's all.
They announced a few weeks ago that Gigantic was done, the studio's been shuttered and the parent company is ending the game next year.
When it comes to characters, they copied more off of Overwatch than TF2
>new seris skin
Guess I'm going back in the visually please my teammates and bless them with a support
Wait, what?
Paladins is older than Overwatch, retard.
>playing paladins
fucking poorfags you're pathetic
get a fucking job
>game still in beta is older than game that released in 2015
Are you having brain problems?
stop with these cancerous titles!
but most of the "copied" mechanics were already in paladins when the accusation started in 2016/7
sorta hard to refute right now though
>will kill the game
probably wont but atleast it will hurt it
Some people never learn.
The hero shooter fad ended too quick, didn't it?
>Paladins was always average, now gone to shit
>Overwatch was always garbage
>Gigantic is dead
>Battleborn and Lawbreakers were enormous failures
The hero shooter genre was a mistake, and now it's being replaced by an enormous amount of half assed battle royales.
And you niggers criticized SWBF2.
It's okay paladinbros
Most of us are jumping ship to Battlerite
They have deer pussy
you are subhuman I won you lost keep crying and projecting paladins was never good enjoying dying cold afraid and alone fucking loser
This bitch is the cause of many of my lost games. Ridiculous Mal'Damba heals and support.
There is nothing wrong in that trailer. Sprays, skins and lore quests.
Wtf are people mad about?
Paladins turned to shit after ob34
Overwatch had a beta back in 2015
...
