Jeez, the combat in this game is fucking awful
Jeez, the combat in this game is fucking awful
Git gud.
fpbp
Did we play the same game? I thought the combat was fun as fuck in the hardest difficulty, it forced me to run away from shit and get creative with the environment, it felt like stealth combat done right.
You’re a fag here’s your problem
Making your ennemies fucking explode by sneaking on them with a shotgun felt pretty satisfying.
How did you deal with the Nightmare on Nightmare?
I just entered the Crew Quarters and was met by a Nightmare and four mind-controlled crew members in an open space. And the Nightmare is scripted to always be on high alert, so it's always knows where you are.
I had to use the recording once to make it disappear. But what if I didn't do the side quest to get it? I'd just keep getting stomped by the Nightmare after I loaded into the area.
Shotgun is seriously op. You don't even need to sneak and can just take on all the phantoms head on, because they get stunlocked with every shot. As long as you can kill them in a single clip you're untouchable.
Get agility and go at it with your wrench.
Dude, what? It'll just oneshot you in melee.
all weapons are pretty powerful when you upgrade them
this is why weapon degradation should've stayed
You know a game is good when people have wildly different opinions and experiences with it.
Q-Beam is powerful, sure, but it has no knockback power whatsoever.
So, say, Etheric Phantoms, who are listed to be weak to Q-beam, will always get a free hit on you, if you try to just fire at them without stunning them first.
I can't remember how I did it, haven't played in a while, but that was how I did it in Nightmare. I think I kept using Gloo to slow it down as well. It took a few tries, but it's pretty fun that way.
Should have stayed? From SS2?
It's a FPS. What are you even talking about? Gun handling?
How does System Shock 2 blow this game out of the water? The graphics are worse, combat is equal at best, etc etc
Maybe you had maxed out combat focus or something? The skill that slows time and reduces stamina consumption.
I'm honestly not investing much into combat yet. Mostly the skills that allow me to get into more hidden/locked places.
Speaking of which, I have a question: are there any places you HAVE to use Hacking/Repair to get into? I know that paths blocked with Leverage can be easily circumvented by dropping a Recycler Charge to clear the way.
The game has a lot of cut content, like survival traumas, limited fabrications licensing and a sentient rifle.
It would be game of the decade if they had more time to dev.
I'd like to know what compromises Arkane had to make to get the game approved. We all know how in Dishonored abilities were going to consume health originally so you wouldn't spam them willy-nilly, for example.
there are only a couple of places from memory that need mimic/hacking to get into and they arent not important at all.
>they arent not important at all
Not for the story maybe, but what if I wanna get that "find every person on Talos" achievement for example?
this game is so fucking good, no wonder brainlet redditors don't like it
definitely up there with the best immersive sims
I like to use Leverage 1 to mash leverage 2 and 3 objects out of the way. Takes a while and sometimes frustrating but I haven't had it fail me yet.
No the only places that have one way in only have regular loot like medkits.
But speaking of the find everyone achievement 3 of the guys in the lobby only actually turn up when doing a kill everyone run, there is a glitch to get into the room but I "found them" by pressing right up against the door.
What about computers and security stations?
Do you know if all of them have the password recorded somewhere? Or do some HAVE to be hacked?
some have to be hacked but like everything else if its important it can be done by multiple play styles.
at least to my memory, it's been a while since I played.
Big truth, I feel this with arkane games especially
