There are a lot of Harry Potter games.

There are a ton of hurty pooper games they just all suck.

>why arent there any harry potter games?

>why arent there any harry potter games?
theres a lot of them you turd. open world, duels, fucking quiddich spinoff, you name it.

That's a mighty strange opinion you've got there.

The turn-based RPGs were stellar for their time, and really faithful to the books.

And why would I want ANOTHER Game set in one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises? Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though r-right
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

You have to be 18+ to post here, kiddo.

>Tolkien
>Shit-tier
>The Stranger
>God-tier
I accept Tolkien's position, but fuck The Stranger, that deserves nothing.

im gunna make a porn game called cockwarts

>"No!"

>Ayn Rand and Les Mis in God-Tier
>Babby's first Edgy Philosophy and Paragraphs Describing the dust on the filigree of the wallpaper: The Book

>Mein Kampf
>Fear mongering hate speech with no scientific backing, written explicitly to push an agenda
>High-Tier

>Brave New World and Shakespeare in Low-Tier
>Brave New World, which could and is happening, being lower than 1984, which would never fly for long

>All of that highly successful, critically acclaimed literature in Shit-Tier

We get it, you're an edgy, self-educated, self-presenting "literature connoisseur" or whatever. But get your head out of your ass. I ingest a shitload of Theatre but that gives me no right or weight when I say, "Arthur Miller is repetitive, formulaic, self-involved theatrical garbage." It doesn't make Death of a Salesman any less of a masterpiece, and it doesn't make it sell any less tickets by name alone.

>he hasn't gotten his Harry Potter Online invite yet

lmao

Apparently J.K. Rowling hates video games or somethink.

For the record I love Arthur Miller, and while All My Sons is a bit of a train wreck and formulaic as all hell, I someday hope to direct it and act out both the son and the father across my theatrical career.

The first 2 books were good

You are a dumb dumb who likes the smell of his own farts

1, 2, and 6 were fantastic. 1 and 2 still had a lot of whimsy and real magic to them, while 6 was a great breath of fresh air from how heavy the series had gotten. It was borderline the most normal year at Hogwarts. I just wish there was less of a Draco focus and more just Harry enjoying a stress-free year.

Then again I ate up The Wind in the Willows, and that's ultimate low-stakes cozy, so I shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Brothers Karamazov is literally the only smug/lit/ book that deserves all the praise it gets tbqh.

Joyce is garbage. Most French authors (Camus and Sartre in particular) are absolute fucking trash.

But Brothers Karamazov really is both entertaining, deep and genuinely satisfying. Likewise with Anna Karenina. Anyone who puts Joyce on that level is just a bullshitter.

Wasn't 6 the one were Ginny got b l a c k e d

It's the other way around with HP. When the focus is on the whimsy of the world, it is at its best - that's because virtually the entire appeal of the novels is the fact its a world you would genuinely love to inhabit.

The problem is that after Goblet of Fire she starts to attempt serious world-building and the whole thing just falls apart. Good example: Voldemort is not a believably powerful antagonist, he's more like a mafia boss than some General of a world-threatening army. The books also never coherently convey _why_ he is so feared, because the magic system doesn't really seem to require much skill, it's just stock spells you learn by rote.

If you guys want to read something roughly similar to HP but with a bit more believable world-building, try the Gentlemen Bastards series.

I remember the PS1 games being pretty good too, if a bit abstract at times.

how nu

>he doesn't know its Sup Forums pasta

I'm not a pedophile, why would I use Sup Forums

Rowling is a hack fraud on a level few can ever dream of reaching.

...

Witch trainer

harry potter just isn't popular anymore to justify spending money on videogames on its universe.

Plus there are tons of harry potter games out, I only played one (pic related) and actually liked it a lot, had a lot of zelda vibes on it, with dungeons and the school to explore

I remember reading good things about one that played like a rpg on either ps1 or gba, but I never played it

...

Is there really that big a difference in quality between two of Hitler's books?

jk rowling molested emma watson and infected her with the molestation and feminism virus
don't tell anyone

Sup Forums is literally the best board. Plenty of cryptic memes, no alt-right stormfront weenies, no virgin neckbeard gaymers, no lgbtaqq$++ horsefuckers.

Not that you would know. To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Sup Forums.

I think OP is underageb&.

I had the gamecube version of this, played the hell out of it. Tons of collectibles and shit, probably still not too bad of a game, the only parts I remember not being big on was anything in the dark forest area.

>there are anons ITT that have never played the best game ever made, Harry Potter Quidditch World cup

Man I wish I could by that shit on steam and play it again. Faggot EA doesn't have any HP games on there.

Thanks for reminding me why I don't go there. People like you who think this shit unironically post there.

it was an actually not bad ocarina of time clone

I used to play it at my cousin's on the PS2. Don't remember shit about it, though.

Your fedora's fedora fell off.

You could do special moves, unlock cool shit, the voice acting is amazing, characters look cool, it's as hype as in the movies, different teams have different moves and stadiums and shit, there are meme teams like Bulgaria.

Man I wish they'd make a sequel, but not fuck it up.

imagine reading that old copypasta and taking even longer to right up your own original wall of autism to counter it

Fuckin' A, listen to this guy, I love that series

Why hasn't a sp or mmo RPG Harry Potter universe game not come out yet? There's been a LOTR and other movie games that let you explore the cinematic universe past what the movies showed. When will we be able to create our own characters, go through hogwarts school and other parts of the universe, learn spells and pick wands/gear...

The fact that they haven't done a Harry Potter themed RPG where you create your own character and do shit and quest is pretty sad. It would sell like crazy, and as decent as most of the Harry Potter movie games are (including the Lego ones) people are dying to explore more of the hp universe and experience things deeper than the characters in the movies and the classes and experiences they go through.

I can't be the only one that wishes that such a game existed..

I wish Emma Watson didn't lose her looks.

Keep an eye out, WB own the rights to make a harry potter game.

It's literally free money, I want one too. Dude magic and shit? Best game ever.

>reading vidya news on my phone
>"New Harry Potter RPG announced"
>oh shit
>not a lot of details, but talks about creating a character and experiencing life at hogwarts
>get all excited, it's finally happening
>"coming soon to IOS/Android!"

There was also passing mention of a new console game happening but I ain't gonna get my hopes up

>tfw don't give a shit about HP but love Sup Forums's HP threads

>hate speech

>google this
>user isn't lying
>we're finally getting a game that lets you attend hogwarts
>on mobile

What the fuck I hate this reality

The GBC ones are very good, but nearly impossible if you're playing without a guide.

>Voldemort is not a believably powerful antagonist, he's more like a mafia boss than some General of a world-threatening army

This is very true, even more in the movies. Hubris is being obsessed with killing a kid but not having enough firepower to invade a school? Really? And wrecking havoc in a school of all places? Furthermore I'm pretty sure, after all the hype and being the strongest, if Voldemort went all in, Harry would not be able to win, doesn't matter if the ELder wand was disobedient, a wand less magic like throwing a debris on him or two will harm harry. Also that cheap "Harry disarmed" Draco

Nearly impossible? Every fight is "cast Mucus Ad Nauseaum and then try every spell until you find a weakness."

>why arent there any harry potter games?
Imagine being this underage

Jesus fuck, neo/v/ was taken over by nu/v/ and then newfag/v/ apparently, because people are falling for a pasta older than themselves.

Also, OP, why would you want to have a tie-in game to a franchise that ended what? 12 years ago? 11? Target audience for Pottershit is in their mid 30s and late 20s right now.

>a franchise that ended what? 12 years ago? 11?
The last entry in the franchise was last year. With a sequel next year. Before that was only 7 years ago in 2011. Thanks for playing though.

But it's WB who holds the righs to making vidya in the verse.
And they are EA of the movie industry.

>Sequel
So we are still pretending this happend and anyone outside dwindling Potter fandom from the original run gave a fuck?
I can't think of a franchise more dead right now, unless we go straight for capeshit

Open world ? The fuck you talking about? Nigga things finishing the mage academy in Skyrim makes him ride brooms n shit ...

These are all good.

Don't you talk black to me.

>399886442
As are these.

>try the Gentlemen Bastards series.

Probably my favorite fantasy series of all time after LotR, when is that nigga gonna finish off the Thorn of Camorr?

What's the Harry Potter game on PC with the best free roam?

Chamber of Secrets lets you throw yourself off the top floor and die.

To understand this, you need to understand the social order and relationship of social groups.

--upper middle-class ppl:
- reads books in the upper middle-classes view(harry potter!)
- does not play videogames
- has ppl working in areas of distribution or publishing (the guys that analyze where to aim sales at) or game design (the guys that ultimately decide what to produce)

--middle class and below
- is akin to videogame culture
- plays videogames or at least ascribes value to it as a form of art
- does not read books & uneducated (in the view of upper middle-class men)
- may work as game developer (the guys that make games, but don't decide what to make)

People in the upper middle class mostly don't even like or acknowledge games. And the few that make money with it as a profession do it because there is a high demand for it.
And they don't see the typical harry potter reader among people that play videogames. It's a majority of snobs that can't put 1 and 1 together.

There HAVE been a few early harry potter games, like on PSX and up to PS2 if I remember correctly, when games weren't nearly as popular as they are now and the games did sell, but apparently not enough to motivate another one ever since.

That's the only HP game I have played, I had it on PS2 and the free roam was fantastic.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINCENDIO

My favorite was prisoner of azkaban on GBA

The GBA games arent very good honestly. The GBC turn based RPG formula works better.
Dont really know why they made 3 an RPG on the GBA but then went back to generic adventure game

>no alt-right stormfront weenies
Nigga, Sup Forums is pretty much Sup Forums2.0 at this point

Didn't Rowling pull the rights after the movies because she thinks video games are stupid?

I think EA still hold the licence but she gets the specific go on any ideas.

>says nothing about Mein Kampf

Why is this the one everybody played? I did too.

It's the one that's posted because it's arguably the best. More refined than 1, but not as restricting or boring as 3+.

It was also the First Hp game on the PS2 which was arguably the biggest console at the time.

Whenever I try to remember those games, I can easily imagine first four ones, but after that, it's gray mass of nothing. How were 5, 6 and 7, anons with working memory?

I'VE BEEN POISONED I NEED SOME ANTIDOTE

5 & 6, good. Open worldish Hogwarts and other areas. Deathly Hallows was GEARS OF POTTER.

>GEARS OF POTTER
That sounds amusing but not amusing enough to actually put in the effort to pirate and play it.

Makes sense. I should play it again, it was so good.

avclub.com/a-bunch-of-new-harry-potter-games-are-coming-beginning-1821222174

You have to be joking that Harry Potter is read by upper class of people. In fact this series of books is known for getting kids that hate reading to start reading.

You aren't. I thought maybe when hardware got more powerful we could have an open-world HP game, maybe even creating your own witch/wizard, going to class, playing quiditch, fighting monsters. But it never came, its such an obvious idea. Its too late now I think, the time has passed for one.
