Even though you're insane for saying that, in motion is where it makes all of the difference. That face is cropped out of a much larger screen and zoomed in. When playing normally you wouldn't notice anything being too sharp.

its because there's so little detail despite the high resolution, resulting in a doll-like uncanny valley look. with the muddy resolution your brain fills in the blanks, at high resolution you realize how empty and devoid of expression the face is.

Most people are going to be looking at a 20 to 50 inch screen from 2 to 10 feet depending on computer or television. Most of that range would be in the 1080 & 2160 resolution "full benefit" area.
